Okay, but you can't set up a system where actions can't earn your salvation but they can lose it. That's contradictory. If works are things you do because of your salvation, then you already have it before you start, as evidenced by Jesus taking on all sin. I don't quite understand your last sentence. If your salvation is already there, what exactly are works counting for? Everybody's equal to God, which leads me to: I differ with you here. She IS my sister regardless of what she believes. There's no hoping. Atheist, Jew, Wiccan... even if they've got something wrong they're still my brothers and sisters. And ultimately the only justice is either acceptance into heaven or some place which purifies the soul or reincarnation... turning away from God is the biggest of sins but it's a sin nonetheless... which the Resurrection took away. I can't see God placing someone in hell, only the person choosing hell. Oh and I don't question your service, SP, I was incorrectly sensing a lack of perspective re: living the message. IDRM, care to elaborate how Catholic practices change the big picture?

I agree with that. God, obviously, is the judge and has to give me the chance. But I have to take it... and not just with beliefs but with actions. Oh, you're absolutely right when discussing the nature of Christianity. But when it's time to live, the spirit is more important than the letter. Haha, good show.

Well, you guys had me up until you denied the value of works. Grace is extremely important but works are also crucial to salvation. Your model of predestined, grace-only salvation is unjust. You'll tell me I'm going hell, and that's fine. But you're wrong. And you rely too heavily on pouring over the minutia in the Bible, telling everyone why they're going to burn, instead of living out the message of Jesus. No, it isn't love when you arrogantly determine someone's fate, and say the only way to save oneself is to believe exactly as you believe.

Yeah, that's justice. Two people I've never met separated me from God? You realize of course that allowing two individuals to determine the nature of billions of people raises them to a level of divinity... there's no way around it. How can you say this after saying we do not define God? Ah, but that validates carrying interpretations beyond a Biblical basis. Using what, the Bible they put together for you?

    The New World Order

    1. I'm pissed I got left out of those winternet.com pictures. 2. NCM, in this thread re: Iraq, we're beyond the "we were sold on wmds" crap and into whether or not removing Saddam was a good idea. It was, yet you still oppose it. 3. C-Bacon, global leadership doesn't refer to literally governing the world. Think of it like sports ... hypothetically, it's like the Bucs setting a goal to make Cover 2 the predominant defense in the NFL. The Bucs want to be global leaders and inspire other teams to play the same type of defense. They don't, however, want to literally take over every team in the league. So they identify trouble spots, the good offenses that threaten Cover 2: the Colts, the Patriots, and the Rams for example. In order to show how great Cover 2 is, the Bucs need to defeat those offenses and be the global leaders. Just like fostering the spread of democracy and freedom by defeating tyranny. There's nothing wrong with what I saw on that site.

But who are you to explicate God's plan? God is distinct and definitive but he's also beyond your comprehension. You even just said we do not define him. Therefore you cannot tell Nanks he's going to hell. As far as I'm concerned, he's one God no matter what name is used. It's more important how you live... your actions. If we all go hardcore conservative in our belief systems, then everyone's going to hell. You're going to hell because you've rejected the mystery of faith in Transubstantiation, as well as the Viccar of Christ from apostolic succession guided by the Holy Spirit. I'm going to hell because I worship graven images and false gods and I practice heresy; and I forgot to use a capital "h" in my 2nd and 3rd sentences. We're all screwed. Interestingly enough, the Catholic priest at USC doesn't even believe in hell.

Bush, Cheney concede Saddam had no WMDs

THE RIGHT TO VOTE????!!!!??!! Are you insane? NOBODY had the right vote under Hussein. I'll be damned if you tell me otherwise. Oh, they had the right to vote. Well, as long as they voted for Saddam. -=Mike For sure. Didn't he get 99% of the vote before the war? ...... Jesus H. Christ on a popsicle stick ... I just saw C-Bacon's NWO thread ...

College FB Programs that were once elite.

USC and OU are perfect examples of righting the ship. Penn St. is in a downward spiral because of loyalty to Joe Pa. UCLA is down big because Toledo screwed the program and they hired a horrible coach. ND needs to competently carry out their coaching search and shoud see success down the road, especially with Malloy leaving.

  15. I'm amazed the Post actually criticized pro-Kerry morons, and didn't somehow find a way to bash Bush ... unlike certain message board posters.

Jennings, Brokaw go to bat for Rather

Right! When I want unbiased reporting of the issues I go to this folder! If you come here to get information on current issues, you need a severe beating... Evidently my subtle, Gore Vidal-esque, wit was on you, my friend. As wit, obviously, is lost on you. -=Mike Hey thanks man ... I try, I try. Boy scout, I was referring to our nation's 3 lovable anchors not to CE.

Bryant Claims O'Neal Paid Off Women

Right. And I'm not excusing Kobe's adultery, btw. But he is/was innocent and the sheriff and d.a. got away with a lot of shady stuff, they spent a lot of money, and they failed. Remember, this is an alleged comment that Kobe has yet to comment on. I think it speaks volumes on Shaq's character the petty way he has responded. He seems to have forgotten that they have a BASKETBALL feud.

Bryant Claims O'Neal Paid Off Women

Beyond that, it's an alleged comment that happened to be made after the tape recorder was turned off. It was deemed inadmissible. Obviously, the state has been embarassed in their unfair attempt to go after an innocent man. If they can't get Kobe in prison, they'll tear down his image and character.

    The Bible is literally true.

Honestly, I think that without God, our actions are either causally determined or random... neither option is free. The only thing that would somehow be able to know our future and somehow maintain our freedom is a god. After all, if you're going to believe Jesus was both fully human and fully divine, reconciling free will and omniscience shouldn't be a problem. And the idea that freedom is only possible with God, makes it easier to accept the ideas about Jesus... which leads us to that oh-so-lovely philosophical circle.
