City of San Francisco sues State of California
Spicy McHaggis replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Marriage got state recognition when it was made a Sacrament. If you truly favored Separation of Church and State, you would support the privatization of marriage and the use of civil unions for all. -
Our achievements? What exactly did YOU achieve?
-
I'm interested also to see the reactions of Protestants as the film is said to feature very Catholic elements like Transubstantiation.
-
When you use that phrase, you have to come up with some, you know, EVIDENCE to support it.

T-Mac is fuckin' awesome.

Spoilers.... My Vice City ending was intense because my life meter hit 0 but my killing of the dude registered first. The screen went blank... just as I thought I would have to do it over, the final cutscene came up.

I didn't know being so loathsome that record numbers of people turn out to vote for someone else was considered to be a positive quality.

There IS a difference between a marriage and a civil union. Marriage, defined by the Catholic Church as an indissoluble union between a man and a woman, was not recognized by the gov't until the Church made it a Sacrament. That is why it doesn't belong in gov't AT ALL. A civil union, obviously, is a state-recognized union of two people.

I knew this as soon as they moved him to Raw. Honestly, I wouldn't be watching if it wasn't for Eddy and his upcoming Angle match as well as my desire to watch John Cena's rise to Rock-esque popularity.

What rights does Alcatraz violate?

My stance: Privatize marriage from the gov't. Each church can decide what it wants. Civil unions for both types of couples.

I've seen and experienced enough unbelievable things in both my life and in the world to make believing in this stuff very easy. By "stupid", I mean scientifically unprovable. Well... I'm gonna try and pick up going to Mass regularly again for my Lenten promise.

Yes, because a man, both fully human and fully divine, dying for our sins isn't a conceivably stupid thing to believe in...... If I didn't read anything else that you've posted, I would've guessed that you were an atheist. Well, the point was to show how moronic it is to criticize one particular part of Christianity because it's "stupid". From a purely scientific standpoint, the whole thing is "stupid". Once a week, I'm eating and drinking the Body and Blood of the Son of God who died for my salvation. Everything about my faith should be called stupid from JotW's perspective, not just one, non-central belief.

John Kerry: Shredding documents and abandoning

Neither is John Kerry. You've posted that twice now. And he's ignored it both times. Huh. -

Hi there. Believing that God takes all the good people and places them in Heaven, leaving their Earthly stuff on Earth (i.e. everyone in Heaven has no clothes), while he and everyone else watches as the rest of us all sit and boil in agony as hell breaks out on Earth? Stupid. If you think free will = agony... Sure.

alf, your sig is friggin' amazing.

Yes. I'm buying No Way Out because of it.

ABC News website admits to liberal bias
Spicy McHaggis replied to The Robfather's topic in Current Events
You're absolutely right. I am a social liberal on almost everything except abortion and gun control. But media coverage puts me in this staunch Republican mood. -
Sure. But don't blame me if, after my third Guinness, I knock you on your ass.

But can you tell me beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the reason there have been no dictators from the US is that we have the right to bear arms? I would say it has much more to do with the strong will of the American citizens. Strong will means absolutely dick without the ability to physically back it up. If I wanted to take this country over, the first thing I would do is take away the average citizen's ability to defend himself. So would I, but I'm not naive. When that world actually existed, I would give up my gun. But I wouldn't give up my gun in a foolish attempt to create that world. Which is precisely why law-abiding citizens should have the right to bear arms.
