I voted for #2. "Marriage" is a term that has religious roots and they should be respected. However, there should be no benefits associated with it. Civil unions should have the benefits and they should be open to both homo- and heterosexual couples.

Public Schools Cannot Discriminate....

right before this inexpressibly funny. I don't know Marney. This one's pretty good: The claim that Catholics worship and put their faith in Saints and in Mary is one of the biggest myths perpetrated by Protestants today. I'm sure SP will now quote the Hail Mary without its proper context. And the "zero biblical basis" line is laughable, too. -
Despite their level of creativity and earnestness in taking the major, most film studies majors are lazy, stupid drunks. And once they get their big hit movie... with proper investing they can live the rest of their lives as the lazy, stupid drunks that got them into the major and career in the first place.

I'm a Christian too (Catholics aren't heretics, btw) but I preach by example not by saying Jesus this and Jesus that. He knows I believe in him, and that's what counts. Other people, religious or not, don't wanna hear it. Use your biblical expertise, your spiritual experience. Just don't spew crap such as "Not if you know Christ" like your shit doesn't stink. -
Which explains the favoritism to Florida St., one of the worst traveling big name teams out there.

But free speech is not contingent on people feeling good about what is being said. -
Yesterday, I turned in my take-home final and 8-page paper for English 262. We had to write a mini-anthology using 1 quote each from the Romantic, Victorian, Modern, and Postmodern eras. I did my essays on The White Hotel and Mrs. Dalloway. My paper was on gender inversion in Dracula. My Philosophy final on Death and Personal Identity is Tuesday and then I'm out!

Too damn bad. Heisman winners don't accept excuses. I guess it just goes to show you, when the going gets tough and the odds are against you... quit.

If there were no conference championship games at all, USC would be in the Sugar Bowl. That hurt USC. First, a good team should be more prepared as the season wears on. Their attack should be tighter, more streamlined. Late-season games are when a team should be at their best. Second, it wasn't simply a close loss late in the season. The Sooners got ROLLED, flat-out dominated, in the Conference Championship, their most important game of the year, when they should have been best prepared. Also, why can't you carry this over to the National Championship? "Well, LSU won the game but Oklahoma's overall season was better so they get the trophy."

Not trying to flame you, but that type of statement is why you get attacked. The rest of your post was fine. But that first sentence was alienating... Jew, Christian, Catholic, atheist, pagan... simply alienating. -
He's still just as good or better. There. Just to crush your happiness. Hell, he IS better than Kobe Bryant. You're out of your mind.

I'm revising my rankings... I was ready for a big rant on Sproles not playing anybody and I found out K-State's SOS is better than Michigan's. My NEW rankings: 1. Larry Fitzgerald 2. Darren Sproles 3. Chris Perry 4. Jason White 5. Eli Manning Fitzgerald has the numbers and streaks against some quality opponents. Sproles kicked White's ass in a head-to-head matchup of both teams biggest game of the year. Perry gets the nod ahead of White because he carried Michigan in their biggest of the year, with the conference championship on the line. White's numbers were superb. But, again, White choked in his most important game. Big players make big plays in big games. White didn't do that (Texas is overrated). Manning rounds out my list, definitely the best pro QB but this is a college award.

The One And Only 24 Season 3 Thread
Spicy McHaggis replied to Spicy McHaggis's topic in Television & Film
My theory: During the three years between seasons, Nina was broken out of prison by the same terrorists that funded the Drazens (S1) and were behind the oil companies (S2). Mandy is the common thread between both seasons, signifying a terrorist mastermind group. The Salazars are now tied to this group. Nina was spotted with them after Ramon was imprisoned. So Jack & Tony (CTU), Gael (CIA), and the President came up with the plan to get Jack back undercover. That way they can get close to the virus (if their is one) and Nina & the terrorists. -
Jason White SUCKED in OU's biggest game of the year. Notwithstanding his superb numbers, real Heisman players don't choke like that. My rankings: 1. Chris Perry 2. Larry Fitzgerald 3. Darren Sproles 4. Jason White 5. Eli Manning The fan in me wants Fitzgerald. The sportswriter in me wants Perry.

Man this ep was fuckin' awesome! -
1. Yes. Legalize it all. 2. Absolutely not. It's very likely the fetus is human, and science will never completely prove otherwise. For every case, there's a better alternative. Also, actions have consequences. 3. No. 4. Yes. 5. Yes. 6. Yes. 7. No. I see a very important distinctions between Church (which implies a specific religious institution) and religion. In terms of the Establishment clause, I take the strict literal interpretation. An endorsement of "God" is not an endorsement of an establishment of religion (i.e. a specific religious institution). If there's no indoctrination, it should be allowed.

My system: 1. 10 regular season games (5 home/5 away, no exceptions) 2. 7 conference games/3 non-conference 3. Conference championship game for all 11 conferences- either division winners or the top two from the conference. 4. 11 conference winners get automatic bids/5 at-large bids- 16 total teams. 5. Higher seed hosts 1st Round and Quarterfinals. 6. Rose/Sugar/Fiesta bowls host Semifinals and Finals- alternate each year. 7. Semis on New Year's Day; Finals a week later. 8. Keep the other bowls for non-playoff teams.

Frankly, if the Trojans play the way they can, Michigan will get rolled. The Wolverines must: Offense: --Run Chris Perry --Rushing game needs consistent 5-yard gains --Break big weakside runs --Mistake free passing game; no interceptions from Navarre --Get 2-3 big receptions --Win the field position game Defense: --Watch Steve Smith/Keary Colbert deep and middle with their safeties --Check Reggie Bush with a linebacker --Stop the combined rush of Hershel Dennis/Lendale White --Get significant pressure on Matt Leinart --Double Mike Williams The Trojans must: Offense: --Protect Leinart --Get the ball to #1; no Williams fumbles --Vary the passing game by throwing to Colbert/Bush/Smith --Run up the middle Defense: --Stop Perry with front 7 --Pressure Navarre with D-Line and occassional blitz --Set up pass coverage to stop deep routes --Be patient, wait for Navarre to make a mistake I don't think 11 players on defense is enough to effectively stop enough facets of SC's offensive attack to have a chance. Michigan will have to match USC offensively, which will be difficult considering the strength of the Trojans D. Prediction: USC wins big, 45-17.
