This logic is unbelievably flawed. Why? Because you can't argue it? You've argued everything else. Tell us why this logic is so flawed. He's saying that studying the facts of history fosters racism, which is categorically wrong. By recognizing these atrocities, we become much less ignorant of what allowed them to happen. Non-gangsta rap is its own artform. I like Outkast and J5. But any "rap song" that has a melody is misclassified. It's actually Hip-hop. And incorporating rap into your music is different than rapping for rap's sake. That's why The Roots, who I've seen live btw, are so badass. They're such an awesome blend. That's exactly what I mean. People need to be smart enough to realize when and where to do the things they like to do. And I live in a place like L.A. Racism is no longer cost-effective. The economy requires the best, most qualified people to be hired. And any hint of discrimination becomes a PR nightmare. The NAACP is a joke and hasn't done anything worthwile since fighting segregation. It is just as ideologically motivated as the ACLU. "Black leaders", with quotes, implies figures like Jesse Jackson who make a living by cultivating the very racism they claim to fight.
