If Marvin would ever attempt to talk, and we got along well (which would be difficult since we're both quiet and stubborn), it would be possible over time. so diplomatic of you, Leena. Fellas, I'm not so sure this is a sound strategy for getting Marvin laid. I certainly won't speak for Leena, but I can't imagine petitioning a woman on a messageboard qualifies for buttering her up.

Ari missing the straw in his drink at the strip club was priceless. Drunken Al Swearengen singing to his deer... awesome.

USC in the national title game? yeah right. Did anyone see the piece they did on Sportscenter where they showed how much of their offense they have to replace? Like 90% of their yards and points came from Leinart, Bush, and White. 2002 USC Trojans Passing: Trojans lost 3942 of 3988 yards = 98.8% Rushing: Trojans lost 1737 of 1852 yards = 93.8% Receiving: Trojans lost 1608 of 3988 yards = 40.3% Touchdowns: Trojans lost Passing: 33 of 33 = 100%; Rushing: 23 of 25 = 92%; Receiving: 13 of 33 = 39.4% 2005 USC Trojans Passing: Trojans lost 3815 of 4157 yards = 91.8% Rushing: Trojans lost 3008 of 3380 yards = 88.9% Receiving: Trojans lost 1297 of 4157 yards = 31.2% Touchdowns: Trojans lost Passing: 28 of 32 = 87.5%; Rushing: 47 of 50 = 94%; Receiving: 5 of 32 = 15.6% -

No shit, and what's with the September release for Season 2 on DVD? It shouldn't be too bad. Look on the bright side... I plan to rewatch Season 1 in August, pick up Season 2 and watch it in September, and then be ready for season 3 in October.

Middle East Tensions Exploding

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060726/ap_on_...zkxBHNlYwN0bQ-- I've had it with that Kofi Annan, to stoke a potential fire like this. The UN clearly is full of a bunch of racists who hate Israel. They said it was an accident... then it was. I'm so angry over the UN's response I can't tell you. It's time for Israel to take the gloves off! -
You can ignore it all you want, but this should really be taken as a strong sign. I'm sorry, is the free and democratic government we wanted to exist not agreeing with us like it was supposed to? EDIT: And oh, you right-wingers sure are touchy. Always with the "you're stupid"s and so-and-so "is an idiot" and all that jazz if you don't like something. I wonder how many people here (on all sides) would be able to express their beliefs without insulting hyperbole attached to it. 1. I am no right-winger. Watch those assumptions. 2. EDIT: pretty bad time to have a double post, eh?

That's stupid even for you, Kotz. Some long-winded speech by Iraq's Parliament Speaker does not equate to a referendum voted on by the citizens or a resolution drafted by their government. And you know that.

2006 Bored's College Football Pick 'Em Sign Up Thread

I'm back as ASU. -
I was just thinking the other day how much I could use a good Benoit match... basically I miss one of my old hobbies. So, the question is should I get back into wrestling? Give me your honest opinion. Also, I've been out of it since the late, great Eddie Guerrero was about to win the title. Is there any place I can get a history of what I've missed without having to read all of the weekly recaps? As for whether or not I should get back into it... I realize there is no possible way for the crap that drove me away to be completely gone, but the question is whether or not there's enough good stuff to make the bad stuff tolerable. I was hoping, seeing the recreation of ECW, that they may have brought back competition to the various products. If there is that competition, and some good workers, as well as a good presence of guys like Benoit, Angle, Cena, etc... That would be a good sign. Basically, am I missing something and if so what have I missed?

If you pull your head out of your ass and look at it in an honest, objective way, you can clearly see that the Iraq war did not have to be spun as being a part of the War On Terror, it was from the beginning. The people that say only Afghanistan was acceptable show a fundamental lack of understanding as to why we were in this position in the first place. The whole point of the War on Terror was that we were not going to simply respond to the act committed on 9/11... we were going to root out Islamofascism for good. Successful democracy in Iraq is just another phase in the defeat of terrorism, because you cannot defeat it simply by killing all the terrorists... you have to give young people another option.

The beginning of a statement referring to the link between Iraq and Al Qaeda: This is patently false. The study is correct about the misperceptions regarding the degree of involvement Iraq had in 9/11... but there WAS a link between Hussein's regime and Al Qaeda. Another quote: By technicality, yes it is correct Bush did not have a document stating, "we support you starting the Iraq war." But in essence, he DID have approval. There were no less than 15 resolutions, including the final one, that stated force would be used if Iraq did not obey the requirements set by the resolutions. Iraq failed to meet the requirements in every single one. Interestingly, if you read the last link, the primary issue the researchers used to assess the news media was whether or not there was a link between Iraq and Al Qaeda. Firstly, the researchers are wrong in saying that there is no evidence. Secondly, they admit that respondents were given two options, either there was a link or there was not. I don't even think Hussein was directly involved in 9/11... but if I had to choose between a link with Al Qaeda and no link, I would choose the former. Because there was one.

Middle East Tensions Exploding
Spicy McHaggis replied to Danville_Wrestling's topic in Current Events
I know you brushed off intent earlier in the thread, but like it or not intent IS the entire crux of the issue. Israel/US are not TARGETING innocent people to accomplish their goals, whereas it is an AIM of Hezbollah to kill innocent people. I can't speak for other people, but do I really need to type a paragraph lamenting the loss of innocent lives EVERY SINGLE time I post in this thread? For me, losing innocent lives is very sad, but if it's a necessary byproduct of rooting out terrorism as opposed to a stated goal, then in this case it's something that unfortunately must be done. Intent is everything. -
King, that's pretty cool. I'm friends with Desmond Reed, and he introduced me to the Ting twins once. When SC is in session, I usually eat lunch where the athletes eat. Not only can you see many of the football stars in the fall, but the food is the best on campus and the prices are great.

Speaking as an Alias fan who saw the show's quality dip in later years when Abrams' attention went to other projects, this is potentially damaging. But Lost has something Alias did not: Damon Lindelof. With as prominent as his role is in shaping the show, I believe he'll be more than capable of leading the show to its grand conclusion... especially with Abrams giving 100% to Season Three, the show should be set in a good direction.

For the record, I do NOT consider Cena to be in the same league as Angle or Benoit. Well, I guess this is a resounding "no!"... maybe I'm better off going the DVD route and reliving my favorite moments.

King, which Trojan players do you know?

Can someone explain this garbage about players signing with other teams in order to "take care of their families"? If Ben Wallace stayed in Detroit for the mid-level exception, he could take care of his family. If you're an NBA player and you have a moderately good contract, you SHOULD be set for life.
-
Depends on the importance you place on character development. One of my favorite parts about Lost is that it is a character driven show... and I'm including the island in my list of characters. In my opinion, that Sawyer subplot was pretty big, if you remember back to Season 1 when he spared the boar. To me, killing the frog signified his complete regression from the end of Season 1 when he had started on a path to redemption... and it was a great foreshadower of Sawyer taking the guns. He bottomed out at that point and began redeeming himself once again, and obviously he was helped by the two deaths near the end.

Season 2 was not a bad season by any means, the writing was not poor or anything like that... it was a good season. It was simply worse than Season 1 because Season 1 was so excellent... there were no expectations and it simply blew the lid off anything on TV up to that point. Season 2 was still one of the best things on. And I still don't understand how "slow moving plot" is being used as a criticism. It's one of my favorite parts of the show. So little time has passed, so much has happened, and the evolution of the characters has been superb.

From what I've read of your environmental views and support of what the courts do... yes.
