I saw them in January and James' voice was fantastic, about as good as heard on their S&M live album. His voice may have deterriorated since then, but I know that, when I saw them, I was surprised how well James' voice had improved since hearing it on St. Anger. UYI

Ah, it all makes sense now. I was trying to comprehend how Mileena could be in Deception and not have Kitana there to mess around with, as Kitana has really been the only character Mileena has had any real purpose to kill or track down. Whoever writes the main storyline for this game is brilliant. UYI

Bummer. Better than nothing though. I recently read that, as a result of the Deadly Alliance succeeding, Sonya, Jax, Kung Lao and Cage (and which ever Earth realm kombatant I'm forgetting) were killed at the hands of Quan Chi & Shang. I also read that they also handed Raiden his electric ass. If that is canon, then I'm happy - time to kill off some of the mainstays like Sonya & Jax, at least for a while. UYI

I hope not. Watching enraged 14 year olds throw tantrums and spit out random hacking threats is great.

He's not that bad. Every fighting series has their cheap comedy act for some light entertainment for the easily amused, Bo Rai Cho is that for MK. However, for someone who has trained the likes of Liu Kang and Kung Lao, you'd think he'd be portrayed as an unstoppable martial arts machine. I guess they were going for the 'eccentric mentor' angle. I'd of preferred them to take the Pei Mai(sp) from Kill Bill route though. UYI

Without giving away too much, can anyone tell me if video endings are back (like MK4, for example)? Or are there just images with a narrator reading the conclusion, ala Deadly Alliance?

I'd of thought the 'change' to 3D would've been done to appease Sony, who have a strong distaste for 2D fighters.

I find season mode gets old really quickly. I was running around in circles, covering previous storylines on my SECOND run through season mode within HCTP. I certainly am welcoming the 'different storylines for each brand' idea they've incorporated into this one. However, it will be interesting to see if the same problems arise as soon as they did in last year's title.

Quan Chi's leg rip in MK4 had me in hysterics for weeks. It's so friggen brutal and nasty that it's hilarious - it is those kinds of moments that make me love Mortal Kombat. I'm also a pretty big fan of watching Sub-Zero tearing out Scorp's skeleton when he is in his alternate costume (flaming skull). His skull remains, meaning Scorp must've had a 'skull to protect his skull' deal going on. Great stuff. UYI

To be honest, I'm *really* not feeling it this year. I'm seriously contemplating just not bothering with this title at all. I mean, what else is there that is added outside of a few wrestler updates and a shitty 'backstage fight' option that technically could already be done in previous games? Think I'll just save for Metal Gear. UYI

I thought that was Stryker who was the most hated? Why did you hate him since MK3? Quad Throw? The thing I hated most about MKII was the computer's throw abuse, and thus Jax was even worse--don't get me started on MKII Jax in Trilogy. Although, I never really hated playing *as* him, exactly. That and the fact there wasn't anything remotely interesting about him or his story. His 'giant stomp' fatality is probably the worst of all time, as well. And, like you said, actually fighting against him on any significant level of difficulty resulted in an insane amount of crazy throws that tore your health bar to pieces. Almost broken many controllers over that guy.

No, I think severing Eddie's head is a much more reasonable alternative.

You like Jax? From just about all MK players I've encountered, Jax is public enemy number one. I despise the guy, and have since MK3. UYI
