To people with multipule characters.....
Ed Wood Caulfield replied to Patty O'Green's topic in Brandon Truitt
Since I use him the most, I think it's obvious that Tha Puerto Rican is my favourite. And since I have the spotlight for this one brief moment, I'd just like to say that Colombian Heat is my favourite character to lend out to other people. I always enjoy reading other people's takes on his way of speaking. IMO, King Cucaracha is the best at writing Colombian Heat, and when I say best, I really mean even better than me. He's the one who "gets him" the most. He can write in ebonics better than I can which is ironic considering that I am the one who's (50%) Latino! -
Okay, some of the people who hate on John Cena still use "He tries to act black!" as a reason to hate him, even though Cena hasn't rapped or done anything even remotely hip-hoppish in almost four years. If you're gonna hate Cena, fine, but don't say it's because he's a wigger because that is simply not true anymore. Online Onslaught still calls him a wigger and Homey The Clown and it's like enough already! That part of his character is gone.

Okay, so maybe my knowledge of American history isn't as great as I thought it was, but was there some sort of issue between the U.S. and Japan that led to Vince captializing on it by pushing Yokozuna? There's gotta be a reason why Vince had the guy be Japanese instead of Samoan, right?

WWE General Discussion - April 2009

It'll probably change by SummerSlam, like it has for the past four years. -
I believe it debuted at Backlash 01 when Shane faced Big Show in a Last Man Standing match, although it sounded abit different at first (a diff mix some diff words) I have the home video vhs of the show, so I remember that. Yeah, The Chris Warren Band (or another Zach De La Rocha soundalike) did the original version which debuted at Backlash 2001. The one we all know performed by Naughty By Nature didn't debut until the RAW IS WAR after Judgment Day 2001 when Shane returned to interrupt Kurt Angle's Olympic Gold Medal ceremony (which then set up their No Disqualification Match at King Of The Ring 2001).

I can't believe that segment happened *5* years ago! Time is going by too fast.

Elijah Burke was a really outspoken Obama supporter on his WWE.com blog too. Hulk Hogan is another Obama supporter, brother! When Batista was on Hannity and Colmes last year, he also hinted that he was, in fact, a Democrat. When The Rock was on The Jimmy Kimmel Show recently, he mentioned that he was an Obama supporter. He even got to have a telephone conversation with him! Turns out that they have alot in common. -

That would be the greatest segment in the history of professional wrestling. I thought the dancing was a nice little throwback to his heel days (the dancing was a HBK trademark back then). Shawn is definitely the heel in this feud, so I didn't mind him bringing it back for one night only. -

Ha, Shawn brought back the dancing stripper routine again. I didn't expect him to do that. Did Shawn go into his wife's closet again? -

Whose dog tags does Cena wear when he comes to the ring? It must be someone that meant alot to him because he always kisses them before handing them to the ringside attendant. -

Was Chris Kreski's run really that great?

Was it the beyond horrible screwjob in the Mankind/Rock title match? That finish killed the crowd so dead they were silent for Austin's match that followed, and an Austin match with no heat simply didn't happen then. That crowd was weird during the Rock/Mankind match. When he came out, EVERYONE in the arena went nuts and gave him a huge babyface pop, but then 5 minutes later, EVERYONE in the arena chanted "Rocky Sucks!" It wasn't like Cena where it's 50/50. Every fan in the arena couldn't make up their mind that night. It was like they were all schizophrenic. -

Okay, in the last couple of days, Kennedy, Cena and Jericho have all had various digs at him. Kennedy even challenged him to a match. Obama= new mega heel. Aren't alot of wrestlers Republicans? It wouldn't surprised me if Cena, Jericho and Kennedy made those digs because they're registered Republicans. The only wrestlers I have seen actively support Obama have been John Morrison, Booker T, BG James, Christopher Daniels, Taylor Wilde, CM Punk and Mick Foley. -
My match will be late, not surprisingly.

From 1998 until 2001, professional wrestling experienced a surge in popularity that it hadn't seen since the 80's and whose effects are still being felt today. Professional wrestling once again became cool. Buyrates shot up. Ratings for RAW IS WAR were normally in the 7.0 to 8.0 range. Wrestlers were on the cover of TV Guide and other magazines. The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin became household names, with The Rock using this popularity as the first step in his transformation from professional wrestler to serious actor. Kids were wearing Austin 3:16 and nWo shirts all over the country. MTV produced several specials featuring professional wrestlers from both WCW AND the WWF. The WWF logo was stamped on a ton of merchandise, some of which didn't even have anything to do with professional wrestling. They even made a reality show about professional wrestling called Tough Enough. I'm pretty sure WOW Wrestling was a result of the professional wrestling boom as well. Wrestling was so popular, a WWF themed resturant opened up in Times Square. WCW got an awful movie about professional wrestling made. The Rock even got to appear at the Republican National Convention! For a short while, 2000 was the most successful year, financially, for the WWF in its history. If you were looking for a fighting sport (even if it was fake), you went to wrestling not boxing or even MMA. But then, something happened. Just as quickly as it started, the surge seemed to die down. Buyrates tanked. Ratings plummented. Wrestling was no longer being talked about on the playground or at the water cooler. The WWF (and then WWE) logo stopped appearing everywhere. MTV deemed professional wrestling unmarketable and cancelled Tough Enough. Other television networks were no longer interested in showing professional wrestling anymore. MMA buyrates have beaten professional wrestling buyrates more than once over the past few years. Nobody was wearing a professional wrestling T-shirt anymore. Professional wrestling no longer was cool. What caused this? What made professional wrestling go from hip to unhip? Did the characters become stale? Did the storylines become less than stellar? Or was it simply overexposure? Did the general public simply have enough of professional wrestling? Or was it all of the above? Some questions for you guys: At one point, do you think the late 90's pro wrestling boom started dying down? What was the first sign that professional wrestling was starting to lose popularity? Some people say that Stone Cold Steve Austin turning heel at WWF WrestleMania X-Seven is what led to the end of the late 90's professional wrestling boom? So, let's say Austin never turned heel. Would the boom have continued? Do you think there will ever be another professional wrestling boom? I look forward to reading your responses.

WrestleMania Roundtable Part Four:2000 to 2004
Ed Wood Caulfield replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
Yes. Austin has a look that says, "I can't believe I am about to do this. I will hate myself in the morning. But I must." It's a great great bit of foreshadowing. -
actually those new belts debuted months before the steiners beat syxx and hall. Inexplicably on the night of the title change, syxx and hall wore the old tag belts. So I guess WCW tried to act like we hadn't seen those belts before and the outsiders had them made after the title loss. Before SB, the outsiders actually had won the titles back and then wore both, the steiners quickly regained them (despite friction between the steiners by way of scott being a glory hog, setting up the turn), and took both belts, so that's why they had them at Superbrawl. I remember when WCW did the finals for the vacant Tag Team Titles at SuperBrawl IX. They had the new version of the belts in a case at the entrance. Tony Schiavone said, "Take a look at the NEW WCW World Tag Team Titles!" I remember watching it and thinking, "Hey wait a minute. Those aren't new. Those are the same titles they have been using for years now!"
