    Heaven and Hell...

I'm agnostic, so I'm undecided personally. I WANT to believe that there is a Heaven for us after we die. I don't believe that there is a Hell because it makes no sense that God would create a place for people to suffer for all eternity. He's suppose to be an all-loving, all-forgiving God right? Like I said, I WANT to believe in God and a Heaven and I have had several experiences in my lifetime that supports the existence of a higher power. BUT, it just seems logically impossible for such a place to exist. I remember hearing somewhere that Believing in God and an afterlife is the "Great Human Flaw": Believing in something that doesn't exist. Maybe that's true, but if so, then why is that flaw there? And isn't Heaven what YOU want it to be? I remember hearing that from my Religion teacher back in 7th Grade that whatever you want Heaven to be, it is. And isn't it the same for Hell too?

    What makes a good Album?

To me, a good album must have more than 3 good songs on the album. I'm not asking for all the songs to be great, but 3 good songs on one album isn't going to make me buy the entire album. I can just download the three songs I like.

Hot Shots and Hot Shot: Part Deux

Okay. Am I the only person on the planet Earth who really loves Hot Shots 1 & 2? Both movies aren't widely known, atleast I don't think so, but I think both films are hilarious. I've seen both films ATLEAST 100 times and I laugh everytime. Hot Shots is one of my all-time favorite movies. I love the Top Gun parody. I first saw it when I was 4 and I still love it to this very day. Each scene is memorable and every character has their own memorable and funny lines which I think a great comedy should have, IMO. Charlie Sheen is great as Topper Harley and Llyod Bridges is awesome also. I also enjoyed the scenes with "Washout" and "Dead Meat" especially when "Dead Meat" yells out "Wendy, I can fly!" before dying. Great movie all around, IMO. Hot Shots: Part Deux is not AS good as the original, but I still find it funny. I didn't like the Rambo parody, but it still had it's memorable scenes and like the first one, each character has their own memorable and funny lines (although not AS funny as part 1). Llyod Bridges steals the show as the President of the United States and is better in Part 2 than part 1. I loved the lightsaber showdown between him and the Saddam Hussien lookalike. I first saw the movie when I was 6 and I love to this day. So, has anyone else seen either of these movies? I'm sure I'm the not the only one.
  4. Hey all MST3K fans. I was searching through a MST3K website when I found this interesting tidbit about the future of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The reason I put (Late) in the topic title is because this news first came out in April, but no other progress has been made yet. Anyway here's the news. "Basically the Viacom/Time-Warner thing has no effect on a possible aquisition of the old episodes. However, Satellite News has also learned that Viacom is looking to buy Universal(or some specific part of Universal.) BBI owns the rights to all the episodes, unfortunately they don't own any of the movies from those episodes. Basically the main concern of both BBI and Sat News was the fact that the rights to most of those movies are costly. Sat News claimed that no other network would take MST because they felt it wasn't profitable since ratings were so bad(Sampo notes that the Turkey Day marathons on CC were the worst ever.) However the fact that Viacom bought out Time-Warner's 50% of Comedy Central, is looking to buy what appears to be all of Universal, and is even going as far as to change the name of TNN to Spike TV. It appears as though they have well enough money. On top of that, as i've mentioned so many times before, they're losing about 30 hours a programming per week once Saturday Night Live reruns entirely go to E! They're gonna need a few shows to fill those spots, MST of course can't do it alone. As for ratings wise... I don't think Viacom is really worried... their TNN(soon to be Spike TV) airs World Wrestling Entertainment programming, and despite WWE Raw being their #1 show, its ratings aren't all wine and roses. If Viacom does indeed buy Universal, then things may rapidly change, perhaps for the better. Like Sampo said: If not television, then video/DVD. Either way it's a win/win situation for MST."

    Futurama ends

Last night's episode was a HORRIBLE way to end the show. Fry never actually got Leela. Leela just said that she wanted to hear the ending of the musical, but she never actually said that she loved Fry. It's also sucky, because it's been built since the FIRST EPISODE that Leela and Fry would fall in love. And we never got that conclusion. It's one of the most disappointing series finales in T.V. history IMO right next to Sam and Diana not falling in love with each other in the final episode of "Cheers".

    Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Anybody here watches Whose Line Is It Anyway? I've started watching the show again after abandoning it back in 2001. I've seen both the British version and the American (ABC) version and I can't decide which is better. I don't like how the show is a little predictable since Wayne Brady is a regular player of the show and he ALWAYS has to do one song on the show, but the rest is great. Ryan Stiles and Greg Proops are my favorite castmembers. So, does anyone else watch the show?

(Late) News On The Future of MST3K Episodes

(Late) News On The Future of MST3K Episodes

They can't show every single episode from Seasons 8-10 because the rights for the movies have expired and won't come back. Personally, I never got why the creators or distrubtors of these horrific, terrible movies would want to get paid before sending their horrible movies. In the shows early days, the producers, directors, etc. gave their films for free. Why the sudden change?

So what superstars are assholes to fans?

The only autograph signing I've been to was back in March 2000 at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan to meet Mick Foley. It was a long wait about 90 minutes but it was worth because Foley was really cool. It cost $10 for two autograph promo pics (one of him as Mankind and one of him as Cactus Jack). He was talking with this guy, probalby his agent, but when I got on line, he stopped and shook my hand. I asked him to personalize the promo pics with my name and he obliged. I then told him good luck in the Fatal Four-Way Match at WrestleMania 2000 (I was a mark), and he laughed. Overall, a very cool experience.

Who should get the next MTV Icons show?

I don't think Public Enemy videos got much airplay during their heyday. I'm sure "Fight The Power" got massive rotation, but I don't think the rest of their videos got heavy rotation because they were so "controversial"(they weren't). Their last video got banned from MTV last year for having the phrase "Free Mumia" in the song and video. Besides, I don't think today's MTV/hip-hop loving audience even know who Public Enemy is. When MTV held that 22 Greatest MC's countdown, where the fans voted who would be placed where, Chuck D. was Number 22 (the last one) which means either today's MTV audience doesn't know who he is, or don't think he's a good rapper. It's most likely my first choice. And Chuck D. wrote on the offical Public Enemy website that PE now refuses to appear on MTV because of the way he saids "They turned black faces into blackfaces", that is degrading black people. As much as I would like to see PE get some respect on MTV, it won't happen. They're considered "too controversial" for having political messages in their video. (And yet 50 Suck, whose whole gimmick is that he is a real life gangster who got shot 9 times gets non-stop airplay. Stupid MTV) If they are going to do the rap MTV Icon it's defintley going to be Run-DMC because they were the first rappers to appear on MTV and have had more of an impact on pop-culture in general.

    The Source's top 151 Greatest

What about "Shut 'Em Down", "Can't Truss It", "Public Enemy #1", "Don't Believe The Hype", "By The Time I Get To Arizona", or "Give It Up"? The list would be perfect except it has Ja Rule and 50 Suck on the list. Otherwise, it's fine.

And the MTV VMA nominees are.....

Here are my predictions for the show. I will write who I want to win and who MTV will pick to win: Video Of The Year 50 Cent, "In Da Club" Eminem, "Lose Yourself" Johnny Cash, "Hurt" Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River" Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, "Work It" Who I want to win: Johnny Cash. Who will most likely win: 50 Suck or Eminem but 50 more likely. Best Male Video 50 Cent, "In Da Club" Eminem, "Lose Yourself" John Mayer, "Your Body is a Wonderland" Johnny Cash, "Hurt" Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River" Who I want to win: Johnny Cash. Who will most likely win: 50 Suck or Eminem but Eminem more likely. Best Female Video Avril Lavigne, "I'm With You" Beyonce f/ Jay-Z, "Crazy in Love" Christina Aguilera, "Dirrty" Jennifer Lopez, "I'm Glad" Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, "Work It" Who I want to win: Avril (of course). Who will most likely win: Beyonce. The video for "Dirrty" didn't get much airplay that I know of. And "Crazy In Love" has gotten MASSIVE rotation on MTV. The Beyonce solo push continues. Best New Artist In A Video 50 Cent, "In Da Club" All-American Rejects, "Swing, Swing" Evanescence f/ Paul McCoy, "Bring Me to Life" Kelly Clarkson, "Miss Independent" Sean Paul, "Get Busy" Simple Plan, "Addicted" Who I want to win: ANYONE BUT 50 SUCK. Who will most likely win: 50 Suck. It's a no-brainer sadly. Breakthrough Video Coldplay, "The Scientist" Floetry, "Floetic" Kenna, "Freetime" Queens of the Stone Age, "No One Knows" Sum 41, "The Hell Song" Who I want to win: Sum 41 (The video is pretty cool). Who will most likely win: Sum 41 or maybe even Coldplay. Best Group Video B2K f/ P. Diddy, "Bump, Bump, Bump" Coldplay, "The Scientist" Good Charlotte, "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" The Donnas, "Take It Off" The White Stripes, "Seven Nation Army" Who I want to win: I don't like any of the bands nominated but I'll chose White Stripes because I like "Seven Nation Army." Who will most likely win: Good Charlotte. Best Rap Video 2 Pac f/ Nas, "Thugz Mansion" 50 Cent, "In Da Club" Eminem, "Lose Yourself" Ludacris f/ Mystikal, "Move B***h" Nas, "I Can" Who I want to win: Eminem. Who will most likely win: Eminem or 50 Suck. Anything with those two in the catergories will end up being a no-contest for the rest of the artists. Best R&B Video Aaliyah, "Miss You" Ashanti, "Rock Wit U (Awww Baby)" Beyonce f/ Jay-Z, "Crazy in Love" Nelly f/ Kelly Rowland, "Dilemma" R. Who will most likely win: It's a tossup between Jay-Z f/ Beyonce and Nelly's "Hot In Herre". Best Dance Video Christina Aguilera, "Dirrty" Jennifer Lopez, "I'm Glad" Justin Timberlake, "Rock Your Body" Mya, "Your Love Is Like...Wo" Sean Paul, "Get Busy" Who I want to win: Mya (I love the video for "Your Love Is Like...Wo". Who will most likely win: Justin Timberlake or Sean Paul. J.Lo BETTER not win! Best Rock Video Evanescence f/ Paul McCoy, "Bring Me to Life" Good Charlotte, "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous" Linkin Park, "Somewhere I Belong" Metallica, "St. Anger" The White Stripes, "Seven Nation Army" Who I want to win: Evanesence or Linkin Park. Who will most likely win: Good Charlotte or Linkin Park. Best Pop Video Avril Lavigne, "Sk8er Boi" Christina Aguilera, "Dirrty" Justin Timberlake, "Cry Me a River" Kelly Clarkson, "Miss Independent" No Doubt, "Underneath It All" Who I want to win: Avril (duh. I HATE "sk8er Boi" but I want her to win SOMETHING so that I could see her on the show since she ain't performing this year.) Who will most likely win: It's a tossup. "Sk8er Boi" was played heavily on MTV. It's either "Sk8er Boi", "Cry Me A River", or "Miss Independant". Best Video From A Film Britney Spears f/ Pharrell of N.E.R.D., "Boys (Co-Ed Remix)" ("Austin Powers in Goldmember") Eminem, "Lose Yourself" ("8 Mile") JC Chasez, "Blowing Me Up (With Her Love)" ("Drumline") Madonna, "Die Another Day" ("Die Another Day") Who I want to win: Eminem. Best Choreography In A Video Beyonce f/ Jay-Z, "Crazy in Love" Christina Aguilera, "Dirrty" Jennifer Lopez, "I'm Glad" Justin Timberlake, "Rock Your Body" Mya, "Your Love Is Like...Wo" Who I want to win: Mya or Beyonce. Who will most likely win: Missy Elliot or Radiohead or maybe, MAYBE Johnny Cash. Who will most likely win: Eminem or 50 Suck. Weak list of nominees this year. The same three videos were nominated for three seperate catergories! Kind of disappointing considering this is the 20th Annual MTV Video Music Awards so I expect some pizazz for the show. And 50 Suck performing isn't making things better. I guess I'll flip between this and SmackDown! and catch the rest on one of the 1,000 repeats of the show they show during the weekend. On the bright side, Chris Rock is hosting. He is the best VMA host ever.
