    The Saints of Los Angeles

All it took was a big divorce for Nikki Sixx to finally try to put out the album the fans actually wanted to hear. That sounds pretty good, hopefully the rest of the album is of at least similar quality.

    This Week in Baseball 3/30 - 4/6

Everyone who isn't watching the Pirates-Braves game right now (so basically everyone I guess) just missed Bobby Cox pulling the rare Pitcher-Left Field-Pitcher move with Chris Resop over a 3 batter stretch. Haven't seen anyone break that move out since high school. I don't remember ever seeing it used in the majors.

    if Chinese Democracy is released......

We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr. Pepper with our album Chinese Democracy as for us this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead's performances are on our album I'll share my Dr. Pepper with him. Axl Rose That's an actual statement from Axl, or at least someone associated with him. Very nice of Axl to offer Buckethead part of his can.

    Box Office report 3/21-3/28

Carolla plays a 40 year old construction worker/boxing instructor who gets a chance to spar with the champion. He lands a big shot and a trainer convinces him to make one final run at the Olympics. It's not that different a concept from a lot of movies, but it's done a lot better than most. Carolla has legit boxing skills from his days as an actual boxing trainer, there's a decent little romantic story line mixed in, and it's got a lot of Adam's favorite rant topics included. It's reviewed fairly well and most of the critics are surprised at how well Adam carries the movie.

    Box Office report 3/21-3/28

It didn't come close to making enough money to crack any of these lists, but also this week Adam Carolla's movie The Hammer did something like $5500/screen on 20 screens its opening week, so they're looking at getting it out to the indy-type theaters in a few more cities next week. The movie is a lot better than I expected it to be, so it's nice to see it do alright.

NCAA BBall Tournament, 1st and 2nd Rounds

This Duke-West Virginia game is starting to look a lot like the Duke-Pittsburgh game earlier this year where Pitt kept it tight then just beat them up towards the end of the game to pull out a win.

    NFL Offseason Thread

Not a move that really looks like it will have much impact on anything this season, but I thought the story was interesting. The Steelers released WR Cedrick Wilson today with the given reason being that he got arrested for allegedly hitting his girlfriend last night. Right in the same article So what are the chances that reason could be that one guy was the team MVP and the other caught about 15 balls last year?

    Superbowl XLII

So who's the big time pass rusher of this year's free agent market? I think he just made an extra $10 million tonight.

    Satellite Vs. Cable

I've always just gone with the regular cable that Comcast offers in town, but I'm moving in a few weeks and have gotten pretty tired of having to deal with them. I was thinking about possibly switching to satellite, but I recently got an advertisement for Verizon's fairly new FiOS TV service in town. Does anyone have experience with them? It's nice to see that there's some competition on the cable front, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have had any impact on prices for either company. I'd end up paying just about the same as I would with Comcast if I made the switch, anyone know anything about their service?

    NFL PLAYOFFS! Divisional Demolition

Atari Bigby probably just played the best 5 minutes he'll play his entire career. He was all over the place those 2 drives.

It's time for the fuckin' playoffs, ladies.

I know it's not a decision a guy is going to make in real time on the field, but on Garrard's 4th and 2 run once he gets past the safety the first time would it be the correct play to just let him go to the end zone? Had he scored on that play the Steelers end up with the ball with about 1L30 on the clock, 3 timeouts for what would either be a potential winning or tying TD drive. I think it's a much more desirable situation that what they ended up with there.

It's time for the fuckin' playoffs, ladies.

The way the Steelers moved the ball on Jacksonville in the 4th quarter doesn't give me a good feeling about their chances against New England. They might be able to take away some of the deep stuff for a good part of the game, but it looks like they might be able to go to someone like Welker or Kevin Faulk on shorter routes all day. Also, in both Steeler games this year Garrard threw pretty costly INTs that put Pittsburgh back in the game, aside from his draw tonight I don't know that I like him in a pressure situation. That running game and the backs out of the backfield should plow over New England's front seven though.
  13. So even though what St. Louis plays on is a completely different type of turf I think this week ends all of Pittsburgh's thoughts of bringing in any type of artificial surface, even after the Monday Night debacle a few weeks back. Also, tonight's NFL Network broadcast crew was quite possibly the worst in the history of professional sports television. Marshall Faulk was barely speaking English up there and sounded like a decent announcer sitting next to Bryant Gumbel. My favorite part was when he said a pass that was thrown about 5 yards out of bounds and landed on the ground was completed to Torry Holt.

    The Mitchell Report

So was Pujols actually in there? I heard his name going around all day but haven't been able to find him anywhere in the actual report.

    COUGHCOUGHWEEK13*

So basically every Ravens defensive player is yelling conspiracy all over TV. I think their biggest support probably came inadvertantly from Randy Moss who said the refs weren't making that holding call all game and then in the 4th quarter finally made "the right call". The players have to get a sense of what's going to be called and what isn't in the first 59 minutes of the game to know what they can and can't do.

NFL week twelve: Turkey Day Cliches

You'd think the team would want to minimize any risk to the high paid athletes they have..but I guess not. It comes down to a competitive balance issue and the fact that no one wants to see 3-0 games because the team is too cheap to maintain their facility and ends up with a crappy field like that. Like It's hard to say the issue is the team being "too cheap" to maintain the field when you consider the fact that they spent roughly $1 million this weekend alone laying down what they ended up playing on tonight. Putting in field turf would actually be much more cost-effective. The issue is that the owners want to have natural grass and are very hesitant to budge on their position.

    Jackass 2...

I didn't follow Wildboyz too closely, but I think the show is done and Steve-O said they were holding out the season 3 DVD for closer to the Jackass 2 release to capitalize on the newly returned interest. Steve-O has another show coming out on USA called "Camp Steve-O" where he tries to take some lame guys and turn them into manly men like him or something like that.

    Fantasy Football

I missed the draft because i had to go to work, but my rankings worked out fairly well for me. FOREIGN OBJECTS: QB: Ben Roethlisberger WR: Hines Ward WR: Deion Branch (uh.....hopefully) RB: Rudi Johnson TE: Marcus Pollard W/R: Warrick Dunn K: Jason Elam DEF: Pittsburgh Bench: RB: Chris Brown RB: Mewelde Moore QB: Patrick Ramsey TE: Steve Heiden K: Jason Hansen DEF: Minnesota Looks like I'm definitely going to have to be looking for something at Wide Reciever, especially since Deion Branch may even end up missing a good part of the season with his holdout. My running back situation looks pretty good, but then most of my bench is basically worthless.

    Ben Roth.

Latest report out of Pittsburgh is that Ben didn't have a license to drive a motorcycle and only had a learner's permit that expired in March. So in addition to all of the injuries he'll be facing some fines for that, plus in PA you're only not required to wear a helmet if you have had a license for 2 full years or have taken an additional safety course, which of course doesn't qualify Ben, since he legally shouldn't be riding at all.

South Park Season 10 starts tomorrow

I really can't think of a worse stretch of two episodes that they've ever done. Was there really someone who thought Al Gore saying "I'm serial" was funny enough to use 10 times in the episode?

    Crazy Iron Shiek Shoot Interview

This may be the most interesting shoot interview of all time, I really want to see the rest of it. I believe he was a long time buddy of Hulk Hogan's and probably had some pull backstage as a result. There was most likely an incident related to this that sparked the hatred.

    Ozzfest '06

I'm thinking at this point SOD is never happening again after all Billy vs. Scott and Charlie talk the past few years. Rumor has it there's a new live album coming out this year that was recorded in '99 in Europe, just to follow the 7 year plan, but that's it. I think Billy is still occasionally threatening to bring in a new drummer and guitarist, but Lilker has said he probably wouldn't do that, so basically it just ends up being MOD.
