Are we going to hear about how well Brady Quinn played after a game where he completed 39% of his passes? I'm sure someone will bring it up soon.

Buffalo MVP=Browns Special Teams

It's nice to see Sergei Gonchar in the top 10 defensemen in All Star Balloting. Too bad he hasn't played a game this year.
-
Did Quinn actually "avoid" that blitz or did Corner just run past him?
-
I'm going to throw this game in with last week's MNF under the heading of "Entertaining Disasters". Let's see what Romeo Crennel pulls to blow a potential winning drive here.
-
One player on the field actually wants to win the game. That was unbelievable.

Stupid penalty call reminds me. If you look at the NFL.com nominees for defensive play of the week there was that critical Chris Carr INT on the sidelines for the Titans. On one of the later views they show of it there's a clear shot of Albert Haynesworth's hand coming down right on top of David Garrard's head and knocking him to the ground. It's basically the one thing that's been consistently called a 15 yard penalty all year, but that's the only time it doesn't matter. http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d...goryId=featured

I still don't see the Browns winning this game. They refuse to officially pull away. They've led by at least 10 4 different times now and just can't finish it.
-
When did Braylon Edwards start holding onto the ball? I think this is the first time he's even caught 5 balls all year.
-
Trent Edwards throws such a nice ball that it's impossible not to catch it. 6 passes and 3 completions to each team. Impressive.

It was too difficult to post the complete voting breakdown without the format being way off, but a few things I thought were of note in the voting: --Pujols took 18 first place votes, Howard got 12, and 2 guys voted for Brad Lidge. One voter had Pujols as far down as 7th, but I believe he's the only player to make every ballot. Howard finished 10th on one and was left off another completely. --As well as Sabathia did in the voting there's no reason Johan Santana should have only made it on 7 ballots, although he did score 1 second place vote. --Chipper Jones had a good year when he played, but his second place vote is pretty confusing. Didn't he miss like 35 games? --I bet the same guy gave Jose Valverde, Stephen Drew, and Nate McLouth his 8th, 9th, and 10th place votes.

I wish the Cowboys would have taken the field goal on 4th and 2 to put them up by 7 just so we could see Santana Moss burn them for a ridiculous 70 yard TD again. How many times has that happened? From the now infamous 11-10 game look at the offensive leaders for the two teams: Roethlisberger 31-41 308 0 INT Rivers 15-26 159 2 INT Parker 25-115 (4.6) Tomlinson 18-57 (3.17) Ward 11-124 Tomlinson 3-40 And somehow the Chargers offense outscored the Steelers 10-9 for the game.

On that punt play isn't the ball already dead before it "touches him in the rear" since it was covered by a player on the kicking team?
-
Penalties in the game: Pittsburgh: 13-115 San Diego: 1-5 Seriously feels like something was going on. The Pass Interference that led to the first TD was completely made up. The only thing that leads me to believe the game wasn't actually fixed was that they called the Polamalu INT legit after review.

One of the refs must have been playing against the Steelers D in fantasy football this week. Phantom Forward Pass~ Or I could go the other way with things and say the refs were betting on the game. From what I've seen before the game the line was Steelers -5 and something like 70% of all bets were on Pittsburgh. Has anyone seen a replay that showed anything close to a forward pass?

For some reason the big rumor of the day is a Julio Lugo for Dontrelle Willis trade. Uh....
-
The Ravens for some reason have almost all of their tough games still to come this year and they're not off to a great start on the stretch. I figured the Giants would control the game, but I didn't see them just running all over the Ravens defense.
-
I guess the Yankee trade means the end of Nick Swisher's hair and beard experimentation? It's a sad day.

I never realized how much of the offensive talent at shortstop is in the National League this year until I saw Jeter's name as AL Silver Slugger. I assumed it was another case of Jeter winning an award for being Jeter, but there really aren't many better candidates. Maybe Jhonny Peralta would have been a better choice, but there really wasn't a lot going on there. Speaking of Sliver Slugger shortstops, was there a stranger looking stat line than Hanley Ramirez hitting 33 HR and having 67 RBI? I guess that's what hitting leadoff does to you.

Does anybody understand the 10 second runoff rule? I don't, but the one thing I was certain did require one was a false start with 20-some seconds left.
-
Excellent. That's much better. 2 thoughts on this game: 1) Imagine how it must feel being an NFL corner and seeing the Jets go to the wildcat and having to cover Brett Favre. If you actually try to cover him it feels like a total waste of your effort, but if you let him go and he catches a pass then what happens? 2) How is it possible that the Patriots have a player named Jarvis Green and a player named BenJarvus Green-Ellis?

Wow, the NFL.com stream is even worse than what they were doing last year. Randy Moss is pulling double duty as he's also the NFL.com special sideline reporter. He looks a bit different though.
-
The Red Wings had a 5-2 lead early in the 3rd period before Jordan Staal picked up a single period hat-trick including a goal with 23 seconds left to send it to OT. He decided to throw an assist on top of it too setting up Fedotenko for the game winner. Crazy game.

The only Webb really had over anyone was wins, and picking up 9 of them in his first 9 starts went a long way towards helping that. All the other candidates took him in ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP. Lincecum and Santana were pretty much neck and neck to me. While everyone was watching CC's go wild with the Brewers Santana actually went on a very similar run over the same period of time. I think he closed the year 9-0 with a 2.07 ERA his final 16 starts.

Going back to the Holliday deal, any chance Oakland may be banking on the hope that Holliday will be more valuable at the deadline than he was in the offseason? I don't see them resigning him, my only thought is that they're looking to flip him for something at least slightly better than the expendable players they gave up.
