    WWF 1994 Diary

Note: Raw got dropped by USA Network the night after the Rumble(Perfect timing no?) however I managed to get it back but it's now in a Graveyard Slot. Monday Night Raw: February 7th, 1994 -The opening match was Crush taking on perennial jobber(and retiring at age 43) Pez Wheatley. Crush took the win in a squash match with the Hawaiian Crusher at 3:18(1/2*) -The next match was supposed to be a Tag Title match however Johnny Polo managed to convince President Jack Tunney that the Titles would not be defended. The Quebecers faced the Smoking Gunns in a decent little match. Polo tried to interfere but Bart Gunn knocked him off the apron with a right hand, allowing Billy Gunn to connect with a Flying Legdrop to Pierre to pick up the upset win over the Tag Champs in 5:48(*3/4) -A graphic is then shown promoting the Main Event for tonight's Raw...Shawn Michaels puts his newly won Intercontinental Title on the line against none other then Owen Hart!(88%) -Bret Hart appeared on a video feed from his home. He talked about the attack from Yokozuna at the Royal Rumble and how doctors told him he would be out for a couple weeks but that he won the World Title and if anybody wants a shot, he'll gladly fight them(89%) -WWF IC Title was on the line in the Main Event as Shawn Michaels took on Owen Hart in what one would call an early Match of the Year Candidate. Both men fought back and forth throughout in a highly contested bout. The finish came when Shawn managed to duck the Enzuiguri, low blow Hart behind the referee's back and deliver the Tear Drop Suplex to pick up the win at 14:23. After the match, Shawn grabbed a steel chair and began to beat down Owen in the ring as Diesel stood by keeping the officials at bay(****1/4) Overall Rating: 79% on a great show that featured in an awesome Main Event. Monday Night Raw: February 14th, 1994 -Once again a match opened for Monday Night Raw as Adam Bomb took on former Rocker Marty Jannetty. Surprisingly solid contest between these two as the finish came when Adam Bomb delivered the Slingshot Clothesline to pin Jannetty at 4:16(**) -Shane Douglas made only his 3rd in ring appearance if you count the Royal Rumble Match when he took on former High Energy member Koko B. Ware. Shane took this match pretty easily, hitting the Pittsburgh Plunge in 4:41(3/4*) -Bam Bam Bigelow and Tatanka teamed up to take on the generally unknown tandem of Well Dunn. Bigelow and Tatanka took this match quickly after Tatanka isolated Timothy Well and hit the End of the Trail in 5:25(*). After the match, Bigelow and Tatanka celebrated to the delight of the fans. -Chris Jericho came out to fight P.J. Walker. Jericho quickly disposed of Walker with a Flying Forearm in 2:08 however he remained in the ring after the match. Jarrett walked out, guitar in hand and trash talking Jericho but he promptly just turned around and left to big heat(1/2*) -In the Main Event, the Undertaker recently victorious over Hulk Hogan took on the American Hero, Lex Luger in what proved to be a very, very good match. Both men fought back and forth with Luger showing signs of returning to his NWA Form. The finish came when Undertaker managed to slip out of the Torture Rack, spinning Luger around and connecting with the Tombstone for the win at 9:37. After the match, Undertaker picked up Luger and delivered a Chokeslam for added measure(***1/4) Overall Rating: 68% which is a little disappointing considering last week's show but still perfectly acceptable. Monday Night Raw: February 21st, 1994 -Shawn Michaels came out to the ring to talk with Vince McMahon. The Heartbreak Kid gloated about how great an IC Champion he was and that he would continue his dominance tonight when he defends his Title against the 1-2-3 Kid(80%) -Diesel debuted a new Bad Ass gimmick here as he ambushed Marty Jannetty backstage with a clothesline from behind and stomps. Diesel picked up Jannetty and tossed him hard into the wall before making his way to the ring(68%) -Diesel took on the fun clown, Doink in this match. Diesel won in a fairly short match as he hit the Jacknife Powerbomb to pick up the victory. After the match, Diesel picked up Doink and delivered a second Jacknife Powerbomb to big heat(*1/4) -The WWF IC Title was on the line here as Shawn Michaels defended against the young pinball, the 1-2-3 Kid. Great back and forth match as both men pulled out high risk moves time and time again. Diesel was noticably absent from this match which raised questions from the commentators, Vince and Ross. Shawn picked up the win after rolling out of the way of the Moonsault and delivering the Tear Drop Suplex at 8:36. After the match, Shawn grabbed a steel chair and waffled the Kid repeatedly with it until Owen Hart ran out, chasing away Shawn Michaels(***1/4) -The Main Event pitted two legends battling it out as Bret Hart made his return after the vicious attack at the Royal Rumble to a big pop. His opponent was none other then Hulk Hogan! Trying to prove himself still worthy of a Main Event spot it seems. A very solid match as Hogan once again seemed to have his working boots on. Good moves from both men with the finish coming when Bret locked Hogan in the Sharpshooter for the surprise tap out win in 11:26. After the match, Hogan and Bret both shook hands and celebrated to big cheers from the crowd as the show closed(**1/2) Overall Rating: 77% for another very solid show. Pleasant surprise to see good matches coming from Hulk Hogan, Undertaker and Lex Luger lately. Shawn Michaels continues to put on great matches with his opponents which is certainly nice to see. Monday Night Raw: February 28th, 1994 -Chris Jericho opened the show taking on the martial artist, Kwang. Jericho picked up the win with a Missile Dropkick in 4:17 in a short but decent match. Afterwards, Jarrett ran in with the guitar but Jericho thwarted his attack, managing to KO Jarrett with his own guitar to a solid pop(*1/2) -The tag division came back into focus somewhat as Men on a Mission battled the Bushwhackers. Pretty poor match from both sides but it was to be expected. The end came when Mabel hit a big splash on Butch for the win in 4:32. After the match, the Quebecers ran in and took out both teams with steel chairs to big heat as Johnny Polo celebrated on the outside(1/4*) -Rick Martel finally made an in-ring appearance taking on the Brooklyn Brawler. Very, very disappointing match as Martel picked up the win with the Boston Crab in 5:20 in a squash(DUD) -Randy Savage made a rare in-ring appearance as he took on the aging Virgil. Savage took this match pretty easily with the Flying Elbow at 3:54(3/4*) -In the Main Event, the #1 Contendor's Spot for the IC Title was on the line as Razor Ramon took on Mr. Perfect in a decent match up. Good heat for this as both men pulled out a few signature spots for the fans. The finish came when Ramon went for the Razor's Edge however Perfect managed to slip out, delivering the Perfect Plex for the victory in 7:38(*3/4) Overall Rating: Extremely disappointing 59% on a show trying to build up a few wrestlers. Raw Preview for March 7th, 1994 Monday Night Raw comes to you LIVE from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois at 12 PM Eastern/1 AM Pacific! Mr. Perfect has won a shot at the IC Title and is officially the #1 Contendor. What will the Heartbreak Kid have to say about this? Diesel dominated Doink in the ring two weeks ago. This week he'll be taking on the Hawaiian Native, Crush! Owen Hart, the current #1 Contendor to the World Title has been actively pursuing Shawn Michaels since his loss at the Royal Rumble. This week Owen Hart will put his #1 Contendor's Shot for the World Title on the line in a HUGE Fatal Fourway Co-Main Event as he'll be going up against Lex Luger, The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan! The other Main Event will be for the WWF Title. Mr. Fuji has demanded that his client, Yokozuna get his rightful re-match and President Jack Tunney has agreed! Bret Hart defends his Title for the first time in a Royal Rumble re-match against the Japanese monster, Yokozuna!

Royal Rumble 1994 Opening Match Chris Jericho vs Paul Levesque Background: Two newcomers square off in this match however Jericho has recently been having issues with one Jeff Jarrett while Levesque is trying to make a name for himself in his debut match. Match Summary: Pretty bland match with neither man doing anything very good throughout. The finish comes when Chris Jericho climbs to the top rope, nailing Levesque with the Missile Dropkick to pick up the victory at 7:48. After the match, Jeff Jarrett runs in and levels Jericho with a guitar shot to the head. Match Rating: * for what looked to be a pretty poor match. I'm pretty disappointed but hopefully they'll both be able to put on better matches down the road. Razor Ramon cuts a promo about how he is the IC Champion for a reason and Shawn Michaels won't be taking home the gold any time soon(79%) WWF Tag Title Match Quebecers© w/Johnny Polo vs Steiner Brothers Background: The Quebecers have held the Tag Titles for a while and are coming off a good victory over the Headshrinkers where Johnny Polo made himself a factor. The Steiner Brothers are looking to get some Tag Title gold to cement themselves as one of the top tag teams in the game today. Match Summary: Very decent match which saw quite a few near falls and close finishes throughout. The Steiner Brothers almost won with a Frankensteiner but Polo distracted Dave Hebner. The finish came when the referee was distracted by Scott who was in the ring. Polo tossed his cane to Pierre who walloped Rick in the face with it, picking up the 3 count at 9:13. After the match, The Quebecers and Polo managed to beat Scott down, leaving both Steiner Brothers lying. Match Rating: **1/4 for a very decent match that I thought might've been a little better. WWF IC Title Match Razor Ramon© vs Shawn Michaels w/Diesel Background: Ramon had an impressive victory over Kwang on the premiere episode of Raw however has not done too much since then. Shawn Michaels has been taking verbal shots at Owen Hart over who the better wrestler is and is looking to prove himself the better man with a victory here. Match Summary: Anoth solid match as both men seemed to click pretty well and managed to put together a good outing. Shawn Michaels managed to hit a Superkick however Ramon kicked out at 2 and 1/2. Razor went for the Razor's Edge but Shawn managed to slip out and hit his Tear Drop Suplex. Shawn grabbed the tights for added insurance, picking up the win and the IC Title at 7:25. After the match, Shawn quickly ran towards the backstage area and into the parking lot where a limo was waiting to take him away from the arena. Match Rating: **1/2 which is pretty much what I was expecting from these two. I think they could put on some good matches if a possible feud develops between the two. Royal Rumble Match Background: Quite a few big names have been mentioned as competing in this including Mr. Perfect, Lex Luger and Owen Hart. Winner gets a WWF Title Shot at Wrestlemania X. Match Summary: Pretty weak Rumble considering the past Rumbles that have taken place. Not many big names since they all had other matches to focus on. The final 4 came out pretty well, featuring Tatanka, Mr. Perfect, Lex Luger and Owen Hart. Perfect eliminated Tatanka while Owen managed to eliminate Luger. Owen and Perfect put on a good, short little match before Owen ducked a charging Perfect, sending him over the top rope for the WWF Title Shot at 57:16. Match Rating: *1/4 for a very disappointing Rumble though part of the blame is the fact that there weren't enough big name wrestlers competing. Hulk Hogan vs Undertaker w/Paul Bearer Background: Both men had a heated confrontation backstage on the January 3rd Raw and have been talking about the incident since. They finally squared off on the January 17th Raw, leading up to this event where Undertaker managed to get the upper hand by Chokeslamming Hogan. Match Summary: Surprisingly, a very decent contest as Hogan seemed to bring his working boots on for this PPV bout. Both men did very well against one another as Hogan began to Hulk up and even connected with the Big Boot and Legdrop but Undertaker sat up almost immediately. He low blowed Hogan behind the ref's back and delivered a Tombstone for the win at 8:37. After the match, the Undertaker picked up Hogan and delivered a second Tombstone before leaving with Paul Bearer. Match Rating: ** in what was certainly a surprise to me. WWF Title Match Yokozuna© w/Mr. Fuji vs Bret Hart Background: Bret Hart had made several comments about how he felt that Yokozuna was not what a respectable champion should be. Yokozuna responded by dominating the 1-2-3 Kid in a scheduled Title Defense with two Banzai Drops and pinning his younger brother, Owen with the Banzai Drop at last week's Raw. Bret took big offense to what happened and has vowed to win the Title tonight. Match Summary: Surprisingly solid match between these two as Bret commanded Yokozuna to a watchable match. Bret managed to thwart a Mr. Fuji attempt at interference before rolling up Yokozuna with a modified Victory Roll(Messed up Victory Roll) out of the corner to pick up the win and become the new WWF Champion at 9:59. After the match, Yokozuna upon the orders of Mr. Fuji hit Bret with a Belly to Belly Suplex and the Banzai Drop. As Yoko and Fuji left, Owen ran out to check on Bret while the medics attended to him. Match Rating: **1/4 in a very pleasant surprise which makes me think that keeping Yokozuna may not be such a bad thing. Overall Rating: 74% for a pretty solid Royal Rumble card. Unfortunately no matches really stood out but feuds have been furthered and/or created which will help set the scene for Wrestlemania X.

Shawn came out and both men immediately began brawling in the ring and soon ended up brawling down the aisle, disappearing into the backstage area(80%) -Rick Steiner wrestled in singles action against Jerry Lawler. Solid match as the Dog Faced Gremlin managed to put away Lawler with the Steiner Bulldog in 4:18(**1/2) -1-2-3 Kid & Marty Jannetty took on the fun duo of Men on a Mission. The 1-2-3 Kid didn't see much action after the two Banzai Drops from last week as Jannetty fought almost the whole match. Marty managed to hit the Rocker Dropper on Mo in 4:38 to pick up the win. After the match, the two men celebrated to the delight of the fans(DUD) -Undertaker came out and began to talk about how Hulk Hogan didn't have much left in his tank and that he would soon rest in peace(84%) -A video was shown of Yokozuna and his rise to the top of the WWF including his WWF Title win(68%) -Bam Bam Bigelow took on the undefeated Tatanka. A hard fought contest which saw Bigelow managed to end Tatanka's winning streak after hitting the Diving Headbutt in 7:56. After the match, Bigelow grabbed a chair at ringside and nailed Tatanka with it(*1/4) -Jeff Jarrett took on another young rookie in Bob Holly. Jarrett cheated at every opportunity and finally beat Holly when he covered him and used the ropes for leverage. After the match, Jarrett took off through the crowd(*1/2) -Shawn Michaels & Yokozuna & Undertaker fought Owen Hart & Bret Hart & Hulk Hogan in a blockbuster main event. All six men put on a great show however the end came when Yokozuna managed to isolate Owen Hart in the ring, taking him down with a Belly to Belly Suplex and soon hitting the Banzai Drop for the win at 8:16 while Bret and Shawn were brawling outside and Undertaker had just chokeslammed Hogan(**3/4) Overall=72% Royal Rumble Preview The WWF brings the Royal Rumble to your house on Sunday, January 23rd! Metal Losing Matches

Here's the OTHER European Title Match write up... We open up to the familiar trio seated at ringside as Annie looks to be falling asleep while Judge and Ejiro are busy talking to each other. Annie’s eyes suddenly widen as she realizes we’re back from break. “Welcome back to Metal where up next we have a big European Title Match between English Dragon, the champion and the Irish challenger, Danny Conklin” comments Annie, trying to cover up the mishap. “Well don’t expect Dragon to be losing the Title any time soon, he’s had an iron grip on it” replies Judge. “Face it, Conklin’ll get his ass kicked and pinned 1-2-3. Let’s go to Funyon who’ll announce the competitors,” comments Ejiro with a smug look. Funyon: Ladies and Gentleman, this match will be 1 fall with a 30-minute time limit and is for the SJL’s European Title! Making his way to the ring, the challenger, weighing in at two hundred twenty pounds and accompanied by Janet, Daaaaannnyyyyy Cooonkliiiiiiin!! The crowd lets out a short cheer as “Danny Boy” strikes up over the PA system. Danny walks out, raising both arms into the air as Janet has an arm wrapped around his waist. Janet pulls out a couple clovers, handing them to the fans at ringside. Danny slides into the ring as Janet walks to the side of the ring, smiling and chatting with a few fans. Danny climbs up onto the 2nd turnbuckle as another soft cheer escapes from the crowd. He blows a big kiss before stepping down and mentally readying himself in the corner. “Danny’s certainly looking focused here,” comments Annie, eyes completely focused on Janet however. “Probably not as focused as Janet huh Annie?” sing songs Judge with a grin. Annie just shoots a glare in his direction before focusing on Funyon at ringside, ready to introduce English Dragon. Funyon: Now making his way to the ring, the current European Champion, weighing in at two hundred twenty three pounds and accompanied by Robertson, Engliiiiiiiiiiish Draaaaaaaaaaagooooon! The crowd lets out a big jeer as catcalls begin to sound out from the fans. “Land of Hope and Glory” begins to play as English Dragon walks out, title wrapped around his waist. He makes his way to the ring in a slow, confident manner as Robertson backs him up, arms folded at the chest. Robertson walks to the opposite side of the ring of Janet as the two have a stare down across the ring. English Dragon climbs up onto the apron, wipes his feet a few times before entering. He takes off his belt and hands it to Eddy Long who shows it to Conklin before handing it to the ringside official. “English Dragon is confident for a reason Annie. You’ll learn here why Dragon has held the Title with such efficiency” quips Ejiro. “We’ll see about that Ejiro, there’s the bell and the match is underway” calls out Annie. The bell rings as both men quickly loosen up before walking towards each other. Instead of locking up however, they circle one another, trying to look for an opening of attack. Danny charges at Dragon but Dragon sidesteps him, sending Conklin bouncing off the ropes. Conklin springs off, ducking a leapfrog and leaping over a flat Dragon. English Dragon immediately gets to his feet, catching Conklin with a hard arm drag. Conklin slowly gets to his feet in the corner, shaking his arm a little as Dragon just eyes Danny through his mask. Dragon and Conklin both move towards one another. Conklin and Dragon both lock on a collar and elbow tie up, trying to gain an advantage over the other. Dragon locks on a hammerlock and smoothly flows to a side headlock. Conklin presses Dragon against the ropes before shoving him off. English Dragon bounces off the ropes, charging back as Conklin catches him with a dropkick to the chest. Dragon quickly rolls against the corner as he slowly gets back to his feet, a little surprise shown which quickly disappears. “Both men showcasing their skills here” comments Annie. “Yeah, with Danny showing off his speed and English Dragon using his technical skill” replies Judge as Ejiro yawns. “You know, it’d be nice if just once both men went at it flailing away instead of trying to take advantage of a mistake” mutters Ejiro as Annie just rolls her eyes. Both men lock up once again, with English Dragon poking Danny in the eye in order to gain the advantage. Long admonishes Dragon but Dragon ignores him, nailing Danny with a couple right hands sending him against the corner turnbuckle. Dragon steps back, grabbing Danny by the chin before nailing a STIFF~! European uppercut as the crowd lets out an audible gasp at that. Dragon nails another European uppercut, just as hard if not harder then the one before. Dragon grabs a slumped over Conklin by the wrist before using his arm strength to whip Conklin hard into the opposite corner. English Dragon charges towards Conklin before delivering a hard clothesline in the corner. Dragon steps back, delivering a hard chop which the fans “Whooo” in response to. Once again, they respond to another hard chop from Dragon as Dragon backs off, letting Conklin just fall to the mat. “Dragon pulling no strings here as he went right on the offensive which only a smart wrestler like Dragon would know to do,” comments Ejiro with a twinkle in his eye. Annie glares at him but decides to keep her mouth shut. “It seems that Dragon is also quite pissed off as he’s been quite stiff in the ring against Conklin. Maybe it relates to the slight background they have,” mutters Judge more to himself then to anybody else. Dragon picks up Conklin but Danny responds with a series of punches to the gut, causing Dragon to lose his grip on Danny’s hair. Danny slowly rises to his feet, punching away at Dragon but Dragon quickly stops the onslaught with an eye rake before delivering a hard knee to the stomach, sending Conklin doubled over in pain. Dragon delivers another knee, sending Conklin down to all fours now. Dragon bounces off the ropes, delivering a stiff kick to the ribs as Conklin rolls away in pain. Dragon walks towards Danny, like a lion stalking it’s prey as he begins to stomp away at Danny’s ribs unmercifully. Conklin rolls into the ropes as Eddy Long finally forces English Dragon away from the fallen Conklin. “English Dragon showing no mercy as he continues the attack on Danny’s ribs” says Annie. “Danny won’t have what it takes to win the European Title off English Dragon. Dragon already has a proven victory over Conklin anyhow,” replies Ejiro. “Oh come on, Dragon used an illegal tactic in order to win” cries Annie, shooting a menacing look at Ejiro who just smiles and returns his attention back to the ring. Danny Conklin has now gotten back to his feet and is leaning against the ropes as English Dragon shoves past Eddy Long and delivers a hard chop to Conklin’s chest, causing Conklin to raise both hands to try and ward off Dragon’s attack. Dragon grabs Conklin in a waist lock before snapping Danny over his head, connecting with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex. Dragon walks over and makes the cover, neglecting to hook the leg as Eddy Long dives to the mat, delivering the mandatory three count. 1… 2… 3…KICKOUT! Dragon stares at Long for a good bit before returning his focus on Conklin and delivering a few more stomps to the ribs and mid-section. Dragon drops and elbow to the sternum before getting up as boos begin to rise up from the crowd. Dragon lifts up Conklin, whipping him hard into the ropes before connecting with a boot to the mid-section leaving Danny doubled over. Dragon bounces off the ropes, sending Conklin down face first with a hard clothesline to the back of the head. English Dragon slowly picks up Danny by the hair as Conklin rises to his feet, groggy. Dragon lifts up Conklin, delivering a backbreaker but holds Conklin in place, rolling him so he’s chest first on Dragon’s knee before Dragon lifts up Conklin, hitting a gut buster that sends Danny rolling away in pain and clutching at his targeted ribs. “Dragon is working those ribs like a man possessed” comments Annie with somewhat of a grim tone of voice. “No Annie, Dragon isn’t possessed at all. He’s just the European Champion doing what he always does, picking apart his opponent. Right now, Conklin is getting his ribs targeted which will severely hamper his Shooting Star Press finisher,” replies Judge with a small hint of a small tugging at the corner of his mouth. He turns his gaze to Ejiro who gives him a quick thumbs up as Annie scowls, now turning her eyes to Janet at ringside. Dragon slowly walks towards Danny, lifting him to his feet. Dragon whips Conklin towards the ropes, bending down for a back body drop but Conklin telegraphs it by leaping and rolling off Dragon’s back, landing on his feet. Danny grabs Dragon in an inverted face lock and lifts Dragon up into the air, delivering an inverted suplex to a nice pop from the crowd as Danny quickly gets to his feet, trying to ride the momentum while clutching at his injured ribs. Dragon gets to his feet and immediately charges Conklin who sends the champion face first into the mat with a drop toehold before locking Dragon in a side headlock on the mat. “Well, it looks like Danny is trying to keep Dragon grounded and away from any situation where his ribs could be targeted” comments Judge with a hint of surprise in his voice. “Bah, Dragon is a capable wrestler and he’ll find some way to find a route to attack Conklin’s ribs,” replies Ejiro. Conklin keeps the side headlock locked on tight however Dragon is slowly rising to his feet, trying to find a way out of the hold. Dragon forces Danny against the ropes and tries to shove him off but Danny uses the momentum, keeping the headlock on and dragging Dragon down to the mat as Dragon kicks his legs, a bit of frustration showing. Dragon once again rises to his feet, still stuck in the headlock. English Dragon manages to lift Conklin high into the air, dropping him down hard to the mat with a backdrop as Danny breaks the hold and rolls away, clutching his back in pain as Dragon gets to his feet and begins to immediately rain down stomps all over Conklin’s body but mostly targeting the weak rib area of Conklin. “Dragon showing his intelligence by continuing to work on Danny’s ribs at every opportunity while utilizing other parts of his offense” comments Judge with a smile. “Mmm ...I wonder what Janet’s thinking right now?” murmurs Annie, hand resting on her chin as Judge and Ejiro just roll their eyes. “Well, for those tuning into the match English Dragon is picking apart Danny Conklin and expertly showcasing his move set” comments Ejiro with a smug look of satisfaction crossing his face, hands clasped behind his head. English Dragon backs up as Eddy Long goes down to check on Danny Conklin and make sure he’s able to continue the match. Danny slowly rises to his feet as Dragon stands by the corner, calmly waiting to seize his opportunity. Conklin is finally standing straight as Dragon launches himself out of the turnbuckles, driving one leg into the air and planting his foot hard across Danny’s cheek! Danny crumples to the mat like a sack of dead potatoes as Dragon makes the cover, hooking the near leg. Janet covers her eyes, afraid to look as Eddy Long dives into position. 1… 2… 3…NO! Annie peers towards the ring with a slight grin, “Danny gets the shoulder up” she shouts with a bit of glee. Judge just glances at her, “Nice to see you’ve finally tuned back into the match Annie” mutters Ejiro as Annie glares in his direction and begins to lean over but Judge forces himself between the duo. “Focus on the match at hand please, unless you two want to settle it in the ring during an SWF event” grumbles Judge, slowly growing unhappy at the duo’s hatred of one another. Dragon picks up Conklin and shoves him to the corner. Dragon “wakes” the slumping Conklin with a hard chop to the chest before sitting him onto the top turnbuckle. Dragon climbs onto the second turnbuckle, throwing Danny’s arm over his shoulder, looking for a superplex. Danny manages to hook a leg on the top rope, blocking the superplex as he delivers a hard right hand that sends Dragon staggering on the 2nd rope. Another right hand connects as Dragon tries to maintain his balance, barely managing to do so. Danny shoves Dragon to the mat hard as Dragon rolls. Dragon makes it back to his feet as Conklin is now perched on the top turnbuckle, waiting for Dragon to rise. Danny leaps off… “Missile Dropkick connects!” shouts Annie over the moaning of displeasure coming from Ejiro. “Big move by Conklin, although with Robertson at ringside you can never truly count out Dragon” comments Judge as Ejiro stews in his seat, arms crossed in front of his chest. Conklin is the first one to his feet as he is seemingly feeling a new rush of energy right now. Danny bounces himself off the ropes, wrapping his arm around the head of English Dragon and planting him face first into the mat with a running bulldog to a decent pop! Conklin nails a couple stomps to Dragon before glancing at the turnbuckle. He drags Dragon into position, adjacent to the corner before beginning to climb it. Conklin is now perched on the top rope as he glances back at the downed Dragon. He quickly looks over the cheering crowd before leaping off, back arching through the air as he lands! “HE MISSED!!!” shouts Ejiro with absolute glee, standing fully out of his chair and clasping both hands together his knuckles are growing white. “Damnit” mutters Annie, displeased with the event that has just occurred. “Danny could’ve easily just cracked a rib right there, especially after the amount of work and time that English Dragon has devoted to that area” comments Judge, pointing out the subtle nuisance of Conklin’s missing the move and how it works to his advantage. Dragon remains on the mat as Danny clutches at his ribs, greatly in pain and seemingly gasping for oxygen. Eddy Long stands over both fallen competitors as he begins to administer the Federation’s mandatory 10 count. 1… 2… 3… 4…Dragon is slowly crawling to his hands and knees right now. 5… 6… 7…Danny finally begins to stir as Dragon is now on one knee. 8… 9…Dragon is now up on both feet and is walking over towards Conklin, ready to resume the action as the count is now broken. “Dragon barely beat the 10 count,” observes Annie. “Hah, look at Conklin. He’s still out of it after missing the moonsault. Dragon should’ve just stayed down and kept his Title anyhow, I guess what matters to Dragon is the amount of pain he delivers to Danny,” replies Ejiro, a little more cheerful then usual. Dragon lifts up Danny to his feet, delivering a couple hard kicks to the mid-section. Dragon grabs Danny’s tights, slinging his arm over his shoulder. Dragon uses what little strength he has to lift Conklin over his head, dropping him against the top rope causing Danny to let out a loud cry of pain as Dragon maintains the suplex hold and lifting Danny back into the air. Dragon holds him their for a few seconds before falling, spiking Danny’s skull directly into the canvas with a slingshot brain buster. Danny is lying completely motionless as Dragon lies in place for a couple seconds, trying to shake the fatigue beginning to build. He turns onto his stomach and rolls Conklin onto his back. Dragon covers Danny, not bothering to hook the leg as Eddy Long gets ready to count. 1… 2… 3!!! “NO!!! Danny kicks out,” shouts Annie with jubilation and shock. “Oh jeez, no matter what this kid is done for. If Danny was truly smart, he would’ve let Dragon pin him right there and come back to fight another day…just to get his ass kicked again” comments Ejiro with a chuckle as Annie shoots a glare in his direction. “Well, for your information Ejiro this match is for the European Title which I’m sure means a lot more to Conklin then any amount of pain that he’d take” retorts Annie with hate radiating from her body. Judge just sighs and rubs his head wearily. “What the fuck did I do to deserve this?” he mutters to himself, trying to get rid of the headache that’s slowly gnawing at his brain. English Dragon slaps the mat, disbelieving that he didn’t get the three count with that maneuver. Dragon rises to his feet and lifts up Conklin. He grabs Conklin, setting him up in a standing head scissors. He pulls Conklin up into a pile driver position however he slides his legs over Conklin’s arms. “Dragon is setting Danny up for the Dragon Driver!” shouts Judge. Danny however begins to struggle, catching Dragon hard in the face with a shot from his hamstring. Another shot manages to connect as Danny gets dropped to his feet. Danny lands but quickly rises to his feet, charging off the ropes and sliding beneath a swinging Dragon. Conklin nails Dragon in the back of the head with a dropkick, sending English Dragon to the outside through the ropes. Danny grins at the cheering crowd as he glances at Dragon who is slowly making it back to his feet. Danny bounces off the ropes, charging across the ring and leaps just as Dragon turns to stare up at him! BAM!! Dragon gets hit flush with a no handed somersault tope from Conklin to a huge pop from the crowd in the Quad Cities Center in Illinois. They begin to chant “Dan-Ny, Dan-Ny, Dan-Ny” to show their appreciation as referee Eddy Long walks over to the ropes and begins the 10 count to both competitors whom are laying on the mat in pain after the big high risk move. 1…. 2… 3…Both men begin to stir on the mat, slowly gaining their sense back as the crowd is busy chanting to the count with Eddy Long. 4… 5… 6…Dragon is slowly getting to his knees, using the railing to help himself up. Conklin meanwhile is using the ring apron to help himself up, already almost to his feet. 7… 8…Both men are now on their feet as Conklin quickly rolls himself back into the ring. 9…Dragon realizes where he is and dives into the ring to break up the count. “Both men finally get back in the ring,” comments Annie. “Indeed, though once again Dragon should’ve stayed out as Conklin can’t win the Title by count out” says Judge. Danny stomps away at Dragon as Dragon is trying to get to his feet but is having very little success. Conklin picks up Dragon and throws his arm over his shoulder before grabbing Dragon’s leg. Conklin brings Dragon up into the air, dropping him hard on his back with a well-executed fisherman’s suplex. Eddy Long dives down to the mat, quickly checking that both shoulders are on the mat with his eyes before beginning the pin fall count. 1… 2… 3!!! “We have a new champion!” shouts Annie but Ejiro is shaking his head as Annie looks at him, jaw dropped. “Not quite Annie, Dragon managed to kick out at the last possible second” comments Ejiro with a smug look of satisfaction. Annie stares back at the ring to confirm Ejiro’s words. She sees Eddy Long holding up one hand, two fingers pointed up to the ceiling. Annie pounds the desk in disappointment as Ejiro lets out a cackle of glee. “Next time princess, don’t get so overjoyed” says Ejiro as Annie is ready to pounce out of her chair but Judge holds her down. Conklin looks up in disbelief, slapping his hands together three times however Eddy Long is insisting the pin fall was a 2 count only. Danny just shakes his head as he climbs back to his feet. Conklin picks up Dragon and backs off a couple steps. Conklin tries for a kick but Dragon catches the foot as Danny hops on one leg, trying to maintain his balance. Suddenly Conklin swings himself upwards, planting the front of his right foot directly to the back of Dragon’s skull, sending English Dragon flipping down to the mat as both men lay in exhaustion from the toll of this match up. Conklin crawls onto Dragon, barely hooking the leg. Eddy Long dives to the mat, hand raised ready to administer the possible three count. 1… 2… KICK OUT! The crowd lets out a big OH, nearly buying that pin fall. Another chant for Conklin begins to strike up from the crowd. “Damn close near fall right there” comments Annie with a slight twinge of disappointment in her voice. “Yeah…too bad huh?” mutters Ejiro with a grin that the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland would appreciate. Annie just shoots a glare in his direction as his grin manages to grow wider. “Please, save the physical violence for my vacation show or an SWF event…. damn” mumbles Judge under his breath, wondering how he landed this gig and how they haven’t killed each other yet. Danny picks up Dragon and shoves him towards the ropes. Conklin whips Dragon hard, however Dragon keeps the hold on the wrist and manages to reverse the whip now sending Conklin into the ropes. Conklin bounces back as Dragon catches him perfectly, whirling him through the air and driving him down hard back first against his knee in a Tilt-A-Whirl Backbreaker as Danny rolls off, clutching at his back. Dragon slowly makes it to his feet, resting himself against the ropes to catch his breath. Danny is slowly back up onto his feet as Dragon charges, nearly taking Danny’s head off with a hard clothesline that sends Danny spinning inside out to a big OH! Dragon lifts up Conklin by the back, locking his arms in a double chicken wing as the crowd slowly rises to their feet in anticipation for the move. Dragon arches himself backwards, using his strength to keep the double chicken wing applied and slamming Conklin on his upper back and neck area with a Tiger Suplex! Dragon manages to keep the bridge as Eddy Long dives to the mat, ready to count after visually checking that the shoulders are down. 1… 2… 3!! NO! “Danny Conklin manages to kick out of the Tiger Suplex!!” shouts Annie in utter shock. Judge just sits their, jaw on the floor, as he totally believed that was the finish. “Oh man, that was a damn close near fall. Personally, I think the SJL should have a replay similar to the NFL because that certainly looked like a three count to me” mutters Ejiro, still in shock over how close the near fall was. “Yeah, that would work wonders Ejiro. Matches slated for 20 minutes would be 40 minutes and so on…smooth idea there,” comments Annie with a smile, as Ejiro is the one now shooting a glare in her direction. He leans over to Judge. “One more comment and I’m going to reach over there and slap her one,” whispers Ejiro as Judge just shakes his head. “Oh Christ…you two should just meet up backstage sometime and duke it out to end this juvenile madness already” mutters Judge in a mix of anger and weariness that leaves Ejiro a little taken aback. He frowns, returning his gaze to the ring. Dragon is back to his feet, surprised that the fall was not the winning one. He gets up, backing Eddy Long a bit before turning around, only to meet a right hand from Conklin! Another right hand sends Dragon staggering towards the ropes but Dragon manages to keep the tide in his favor by delivering a knee to the weakened rib area, not forgetting Danny’s current weakness at all. Dragon turns around and grabs Eddy Long by the shirt front as he lifts his leg up, nailing Danny with a low blow that gets loud boos from the crowd as Dragon releases Long and pretends to wipe his shirt clean as Long glares at Dragon, telling him to get back to the match. Dragon turns around and lifts Conklin to his feet. Dragon grabs Conklin by the waist, looking for presumably the start of the Chimera Suplex Sequence but Conklin manages to reverse the waist lock into one of his own. Conklin lifts Dragon up into the air, planting him down hard on his back with a released German suplex! “Danny nails a German suplex of his own” Annie squeals as Ejiro makes his hand into a gun and pretends to shoot himself. Danny looks to the turnbuckle and moves Dragon into position so he is adjacent to the corner. Danny begins to make his way to the top. Danny is now perched on the top rope as Robertson climbs onto the apron, distracting Eddy Long! Out of nowhere, Janet comes around, a wooden mallet in hand and she nails Robertson hard in the back!! Robertson falls to the floor in pain as Janet stands over him, mallet still in hand. Danny looks over the cheering crowd, before giving a quick thumbs up. He leaps… IT CONNECTS! “The Car Bomb hits perfectly!” shouts Annie over the huge pop from the cheering crowd, now on their feet. Ejiro just moans and covers his eyes. “I can’t watch,” moans Ejiro. Eddy Long dives to the mat, now in position for the count. ONE!!! TWO!!!!! THREEEE!! Funyon: Ladies and Gentleman, the winner by pin fall and NEW European Champion…Daaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyy Coooooooooooooonkliiiiiiiiin! The crowd explodes as “Danny Boy” by Off Kilter immediately strikes up. Eddy walks to the corner, leans out and takes the European Title from the official. Danny slowly is climbing to his feet, groggy from the match as Eddy Long raises his hand. Danny grabs the Title with both hands, raising it high into the air as Annie is standing, clapping at ringside. Janet slides into the ring as Eddy is now checking on the downed Robertson. Janet hugs Danny as Danny kisses her on the lips and grins. “My god, Conklin wins the European Title! Well, let’s go to break so I can…huff…catch my breath and yeah” mumbles Annie, just nodding her head

    NFL quarterback battles

Bears: Kordell Stewart or Rex Grossman: Kordell since he'll probably be the more reliable quarterback. Also don't forget that Kordell can scramble pretty well too. Ravens: Chris Redman or Kyle Boller: Redman can be quite solid at times and should be given the chance to win fans & media over this season. Bengals: Carson Palmer or Jon Kitna: Very solid quarterback, maybe even a bit underrated. No need to rush Palmer into action when Kitna's already very capable of leading the squad to victories. Browns: Tim Couch or Kelly Holcomb: Seems to be more in tune with his receivers and seems to have a better handle of reading the defense/knowing the plays. Reminds me of Tom Brady. Cowboys: Quincy Carter or Chad Hutchinson: I like him more then Carter. I feel that Chad will be more efficient then Carter and won't turn the ball over as much. Dolphins: Jay Fiedler or Brian Griese: A very solid quarterback who was leading his team to the playoffs and a great record before his injury occurred. Jaguars: Mark Brunell or Byron Leftwich: Can still be a capable, solid quarterback although with Jimmy Smith suspended for 3 games, his numbers will falter a bit early on. Panthers: Rodney Peete or Jake Delhomme: Could still be capable of throwing the ball to the receivers. Shows good poise at times as well. Redskins: Patrick Ramsey or Rob Johnson: Was decent last season and will avoid more sacks then Rob F'n Johnson would. Rams: Kurt Warner or Marc Bulger: Is capable of being the #1 or #2 quarterback in the NFL easily. Granted, he got injured last season however he seems to be completely healthy this season and could be primed for a return to his 2001 season form.
