Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
Golgo 13 replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm sorry, but who the F is the WWE trying to kid with this? Okay maybe Benoit cycled off in April and this weekend, but come on. Has there been a "postive" test (for steriods and performance enhancers) in the history of the WWF/WWE's "testing program" Im guessing lashley tested negative too. It's not that people haven't been caught, particularly Chris Masters, I believe, and Joey Mercury, and I think Angle. But the vows to change for the better and sentences handed down are jokes and are contradictory to the PR line when someone like Masters comes back with a lot of muscle loss, is ridiculed for it and two months later is inflated again. Oh. You said performance enhancers. In any case Masters was still positive, which still doesn't downplay Mercury and Angle regardless. -

I know it's weird, but wrestling is full of scummy people and well if you didn't like people for how they acted in life you probably wouldn't have a favorite wrestler or enjoy it at all..... Now what Benoit did is far worse but I still have to seperate it, I'm not asking anyone else to do that, but me personally I'll try to not remember him as a murderer because thinking and knowing that of a man that was essencially my hero from the time I was 15 till now the better oart of 12 years......would do more harm than good to me personally. The problem being, and it was something that was brought up primarily during the McMahon angle talks, is that there's a fine line in wrestling, a blurred part there where real life bleeds into what you see on camera and vice versa. Especially for a guy like Benoit who put himself out there, wrestled under his real name, was fairly close to a 'real guy' type and was said to have many similarities between his on-screen and off camera personas, it becomes hard to divorce the person from the performer. Now thinking back on it I can't believe someone said Montreal will continue to be regarded as the story in wrestling. This is on a whole other level and is testament to how disturbing the lifestyle of what we follow really is. Benoit will surely make a bigger splash in the bubble wrestling exists in, for both the wrestlers and performers, and the mainstream. It honestly makes Montreal look really small in retrospect. We all know about the deaths, drug use and whatnot, and it seemingy happens at a higher rate in wrestling than anywhere else, but I'm afraid to say if what's been said is true this situation took things to another level. Though the death of Eddie and the Wellness Police was the first sign of change, WWE didn't really see it through, as seen in the case of someone like Masters. Now it falls on WWE, TNA, etc., to use the second major, major, major death in two years as a true impetus for change so that this, another suicide, another drug overdose doesn't happen again. Seriously has there EVER been anything else like this? The answer is no or at least nothing of this particular circumstance, as well known and with potential, business changing magnitude. Snuka, Bruiser Brody, Owen, Guerrero, yeah, but perhaps none of them will change the way things are run for years to come like Benoit will.... unless WWE drops the ball again. -

I'm wondering what 'instruments of death' means when it could just boil down to things that were found at the scene and could've been used as a murder weapon. Not that I'm trying to deny any involvement he may have had in this, mind you. Beyond all the morbid stuff the last group of pages have made this thread the best here in ages. Slayer took it home with his last one, no one will top that. -
God. I just saw Santino vs Uuuuumaga. Hilarious. Put the belt back on Umaga and let him destroy challengers for a few months, basically back to before Santino beat him and he was paired with the McMahons, and meanwhile rebuild Marella from the ground up. Though I still think Santino could've worked without the stereotypical Italian shit.

That's probably the best idea if they go that route. I know it wasn't necessarily an aspect of the ECW revitalization that people liked but maybe you can bring back the 'guest wrestler from another brand comes in for a match' thing with Nitro and let him gain credibility that way.
-
Yes, I would have vastly preferred Punk. However... Certainly McMahon holding it didn't help but the ECW Title became a mid-card elevation belt once Lashley won it, the very defintion of a belt as a prop. That's all it's good for, nothing more, nothing less, it'll never be recognized on the same level as the other two major WWE titles. Much like how ECW is said to be becoming nothing more than a high profile developmental fed the ECW Title right now, under that circumstance, is simply like if they were to name a Velocity Champion. I don't really mind so much, the ECW brand is already fucked as it is, it's been this way for months. Frankly I don't care that Nitro was teaming and losing with Kenny two weeks ago since you can easily write off a faltering tag team. It's kind of a JBL situation where, if he keeps the belt for any length of time I think it'll grow on me. I just don't know if, besides Punk and Benoit, there are any worthy opponents to help Nitro since he's sorely lacking in charisma and presence, two points that became apparent about JBL during his run. Anyway what'll it say about Punk if Benoit just marches in and takes the title within two weeks. Let Nitro at least put up a fight with the belt for a couple months and see what he can do.

They're always at 8 PM Eastern on Sundays unless otherwise noted.

I hope I've returned this thing to its default settings. As an alternative to contacting Raynor or Drea, attached is the SWF mIRC client. Just extract the folder to your Program Files or wherever and chat. Maybe. SWF_mIRC_Script.zip

Yea, just what I've been thinking for a long time. They need BADLY a color commentator, JBL type... BTW: Thanks for the James Storm entrance sample to MillenniumMan831. Haven't checked that thread for quite a while, sorry for the late answer It's too much color at the table. It's like Tenay and West don't know whether to be PBP or color. I just really want them to stop screaming at me. Though Nash is my preference and would be good for the role anything is an improvement at this point, whether it's getting them to tone it down, digging up Scott Hudson or putting someone with personality but no direction at the table. Simon Diamond, Shane Douglas, I would have said Raven a few weeks ago... those guys aren't doing much and are surely better options. I'm just tired of Don West's act and Tenay is better suited to being the third guy.

Back when Benoit, Saturn, Guerrero and Malenko jumped to the WWF after Souled Out, who were the others that were rumored? Mysterio, Konnan, Kidman and Douglas? I always assumed that's why, like Benoit, Kidman was given that odd push at the PPV.

Back in two weeks.

Needs moar Manson.

In some cases it's just as popular, if not more so than the main line.

I thought it was due yesterday and haven't written since then. Oh Lawd.

Fury in the Ultimate line is black and he was coincidentally designed in Samuel L's likeness.

Now I get you. I honestly thought you meant a page for each era. Still, I doubt many of us will be able to remember enough to make it worth it, especially as far as the IGN days are concerned. Though if we were to do it, I think we can safely break it down into IGNWF, IGNJL, IGNML, Smarks Move/SWF, SJL, and finally the SWF/SJL Merge to Current. The ML = IGNML, another splinter federation which split from the IGNJL in early 2001 (?) when even that became too much to handle, though the two rejoined just before I came in.

I love you.

Learning wiki mark-up is actually pretty easy, just look around at a few pages and their edit boxes to get an idea of what to do. For a simple page all you really need is to know how to make section headers (==Title==) and for more in-depth stuff like tables and infoboxes you can just copy, paste and edit those. Good job on the SWF disambiguation and Smartmarks Wrestling Federation redirect, by the way, even that hadn't popped into my mind. All the HoF stuff is on the Community Boards along with all award winners, both of which were always announced around Genesis time. I'm iffy on these in-depth histories or at least in the way you're describing them as. For the bare minimum of what we need right now, at least, is to get enough wrestler pages going in addition to PPV pages in which we can post all the cards related to that PPV throughout the years (like Battleground 2002, 2003 and so on as part of one SWF Battleground page) and including reference links back to the full shows here. Along with that, once I make a secondary page to thin out the bottom section of the main page we can expand on the history on the main page. I hate to be one of those guys on Wikipedia that insist on the guidelines and rules, and I'm not trying to be, but remember that one of the main guidelines there is to not to be a one stop shop for any and all inclusive information no matter how mundane it is. Anyway... Finish Current Title Histories, create a page for Defunct Titles. Create a page for all PPVs and include each yearly card relating to that page. Create an SWF Complete Roster and Alumni page, and either included in that or separately, an SWF Teams and Stables page, along with, possibly, an SWF Hall of Fame and Award Winners page. Though for the time being I'm thinking of simply including all of these under one page. And I'm begging, someone, to remind me which titles were part of the IGNML and if any of you have IGNsider access to get me their Title History, though that latter request isn't necessary. Yeah. And it would eliminate the need for all that fancy schmancy but harder to maintain stuff Johnny wanted to be included on the last site. I remember my suggestion being to make it more like the WWE or TNA website would be with simplified bios, all that supplemental junk and what not, just have everything be more 'static' I guess you could say, with completed shows being basically the only thing brought over. But it's really a pointless discussion which almost seems futile at this point.

Regarding the website, we've had several, but due to a lack of interest, laziness, and having other things to attend to, they've all passed on. It doesn't help that the last iteration was basically a one man coding/designing/upkeep operation and was rushed out the door to appease X-Net. We do have... something at theswf.com/net but no functioning site. The major problem has been how to integrate the site into the forums. For us the forums are the major hub of the SWF and so creating a site that isn't redundant where you can simply get everything that's over there on the forums is an issue, along with simply having the will to see it through, of which there hasn't been much of lately. We have a Hall of Fame. I forget everyone who's in it though. If we could just post wrestler profiles on the wiki that would be enough, I think. That was one of the ideas for it when I kind of took over but no one has done so as of yet. Course, we can't simply add everything to our heart's content, the owners there likely wouldn't take kindly to us adding anything and everything even tangentially related to the SWF. In addition not everyone knows wiki code and one of the concerns over there is the need to wiki-ize everything. As far as everything else is concerned, of the currently active titles, the International Title History is already completed, so I only have the Cruiserweight Title History left. Since I don't want to add unnecessary pages I'm just waiting to see how the International Title situation shakes out and debating how best to incorporate all the Defunct Titles into the wiki. In addition, in order to minimize the Roster and Alumni section on the main page, I'm likely going to add an SWF Complete Roster, Alumni and Stables page soon, or something of that nature, perhaps separately, where I can put all that stuff down.

TNA Impact Spoilers for the next two weeks 6/22/07
Golgo 13 replied to slimm44's topic in TNA Wrestling
Yeah. This shit is awful. Last year around this time was the pits, too, with all the Jarrett/Hebner/Larry Z. garbage. -
The mere thought of Nate and Nazr on the Nuggets makes me sick.
-
We should bring him back because the dude is hilarious as is watching everyone try to get on him. Though I was sorely disappointed when CronoT failed to live up to expectations during his return.
-
I think Comet was from Portland. But you'd be asking the wrong guy, he was a bit before my time. The only thing that really stands out strongly was the vending machine, his membership in Regeneration X and former role as commentator. Drea (or Zed) would know more than I would. Here are a few of his promos, though, and I'm sure more have been posted here. I liked this.

Though the mystery was solved it definitely wasn't me that had anything to do with that eList thing, I've only tended to the SWF page. In any case it looks like it's been deleted.
