Seattle has a potentially tough schedule as well.

I still remember my NES coming with Super Mario/Duckhunt/Olympic game with the pad (name escapes me right now). Those were the days.
-
Do you mean it was shot in a blue "shade"? I hate it when whole movies are shown in a certain shade.
-
Apparently Kahran missed my post about the Seahawks on the road.
-
I believe they bought FuncoLand so all the FuncoLand stores renamed themselves.

A story that fits the run of the book. If you have 6 comics worth of story do that... no more... no less. Don't stretch it and don't rush it.

Also Frigid and UTSHU need to keep the flaming out of this folder.

I don't predict anyone in the Super Bowl because now it is elimination. You could say something like the Seahawks can't advance because they can't win on the road... but if you look at the games they have lost they lost to Baltimore in OT 44-41 (where the ref's blew the call), St. Louis 27-22, Cincinatti 27-24, Green Bay 35-13 and Minnesota 34-7. They have played relatively well on the road save for against GB and when they never recovered against the Vikings. Then you look at the Ravens and they lost 5 out of 8 games on the road which is only 1 game less than the Seahawks and no one gets on them about their road record even though they lost to Oakland 22-10, St. Louis 33-22, Cincinatti 34-26, Pittsburgh 34-15 and Miami 9-6.

Bad idea.

Yesterday while going to various places to return/exchange some gifts I noticed some oddities. #1 - I literally saw 3 different stands of people selling Krispy Creme donuts. Now... I love Krispy Creme donuts but why are these people selling them at a stand like their oranges? I will also mention all 3 stand "owners" were white. So now we have whites selling donuts, Mexicans selling oranges... etc. #2 - Korner Kar Kompany. Reason I bring this up is that I saw a car with a license frame holder with this. I thought I would drive by the place to see if it was like that due to the last name or something... or possibly a German dealership. NOPE. Logo on the sign had the K's highlited. #3 - As I was driving down the freeway I saw a car with a blown out tire. No biggie until I saw the guy slug his wive/gf/ho in my rearview mirror. #4 - Watched a Jeep Cherokee roll across the South bound lanes of I-5. Luckily I was North bound. I saw all this in about a 2 hour time frame. Good times.

I am very leery of the M's this season.... I don't think they have made really any moves to significally upgrade the team to remain a definite playoff contender from the start of the season on.

If you are using Comcast you are going to want to get a router so your computer and PS2 can be online at the same time. A router will cost you $30-40. I don't believe the PS2 will work on dial up.

Sitting on my Tivo right now.

I can't laugh if a player gets hurt, ever. Even if he is killing my team, I can't bring myself to do that. It just seems very dark. I can laugh if its an ironic situation. I laugh at the irony, not the bones sticking through their flesh Also the Seahawks and Vikings have got to love how the Broncos are basically handing the game over to the Packers by evaluating future players rather than trying to win. In a way I'd rather play the Packers than the Vikings.
-
Eagles have home-field advantage based on better conference record than St. Louis. The Colts win the AFC South based on head-to-head sweep of the Titans. Seattle is No. 5 seed based on better strength of victory than Cowboys. Right now, the Packers would be No. 4 seed over the Vikings based on better record in common games. However, if each team wins in Week 17, their record in common games will be tied and the Vikings will win the NFC North based on better record in conference games. Wild-card matchups AFC Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts Tennessee Titans at Baltimore Ravens First-round byes: New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs. NFC Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers First-round byes: Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams
-
Official from the NFL - Seattle is IN based on the Cowboy loss and other factors. Between Minnesota and Green Bay now for the final spot.

By MARTIN WALLACE A STORM of protest erupted yesterday over revelations that shamed pop star Michael Jackson is to spend Christmas in Britain. And The Sun is today leading calls from all over the country to BAN the suspected paedophile from entering the UK. Jacko, who is facing nine child sex abuse charges, has been given permission by US authorities to visit Britain from today until January 6. But he is planning a party at his Neverland ranch in California this afternoon and is not expected to jet in until tomorrow at the earliest. We are demanding he be refused entry by immigration officials. And our call is being supported by a string of politicians and campaigners against child abuse. Des Turner, Labour MP for Brighton, said: “Britain needs to send out the clearest message to paedophiles that their crimes are evil and unacceptable. “I would like to see him barred until the charges against him are resolved.” Labour colleague Dan Norris, MP for Wansdyke, said: “He is clearly the most famous person in the world facing charges of paedophilia. “It is important we send out the strongest possible message that we take the protection of children seriously.” Mr Norris, a former social worker, added: “I would not welcome him being allowed into this country until after these matters are dealt with.” The grandmother of eight-year-old Sarah Payne, who was murdered by paedophile Roy Whiting, also backed a Jacko ban. Lesley Payne, 50, said: “As far as I’m concerned he should not be allowed into this country. We have a duty to ensure our children are protected.” The Association of Child Abuse Lawyers said it would be “highly inadvisable” to let Jacko come into contact with kids while the charges were outstanding. And Sun readers around Britain also believe the 45-year-old star should be refused entry. Gran-of-seven Rita Stephens declared: “We have a responsibility to protect our kids. If the shoe was on the other foot I’m sure the American authorities would not allow a person facing these allegations into their country, so why should we?” Rita, of Sedgefield, Co Durham, added: “If Jackson is found innocent that’s all well and good, but in the meantime we have to take steps to ensure our children are not put at risk.” Jackson, who is on £1.7million bail, has had his passport returned by US authorities so he can visit this country. Officially the trip is to promote his greatest hits CD, Number Ones, which is currently at No3 in the album chart. But sources close to the star say he is also desperate to escape media attention in the States. Jackson was this week charged with seven counts of molesting a boy under 14 and two counts of supplying booze to a child with intent to commit a crime. The charges allege that “lewd and lascivious acts were committed upon and with the body parts and members of a child under 14 with the intent of arousing and gratifying the lust, passions and sexual desires of the defendant.” Prosecutors say there was “substantial sexual contact” between Jackson and the unnamed child, believed to be cancer victim Gavin Arvizo, who was 12 at the time of the alleged offences in February and March this year. Gavin appeared on Martin Bashir’s famous ITV documentary about Jacko, and the pop star was filmed holding hands with the lad. Jackson has branded the allegations a “big lie” and vowed to fight them with every fibre of his soul. He is due to appear in court in California on January 16. His legal team is being helped out by top defence lawyer Johnnie Cochran, who is best known for defending OJ Simpson. The Home Office said last night it would not comment on individual immigration cases. But a spokesman said only people with criminal convictions were usually refused entry. http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-20035...3583509,00.html

ATLANTA (Reuters) - The parents of murdered child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey have filed a lawsuit against the Fox News network seeking $16 million in damages for a 2002 broadcast they say defamed them, their lawyer said on Wednesday. In the suit, filed on Tuesday in federal court in Atlanta, the Ramseys objected to a report aired last year by the News Corp Ltd. TV channel around the sixth anniversary of the murder of 6-year-old JonBenet in Boulder, Colorado. The suit charges that a Fox reporter's statement saying "there has never been any evidence to link an intruder to JonBenet's brutal murder" was false and defamed the Ramseys. "The gist of the statements uttered in the Ramsey segment is that in all probability, one or more of the Ramseys murdered JonBenet," the suit says. Fox News spokesman Robert Zimmerman said the network had not been served with the lawsuit and had no comment. Lin Wood, an Atlanta-based lawyer for the Ramseys, said the lawsuit seeks compensatory damages of $2 million each for John and Patsy Ramsey and their son, Burke, and $10 million in punitive damages. JonBenet, a former Little Miss Colorado, was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her parents' home in Boulder, Colorado, on Dec. 26, 1996. No criminal charges have been filed in the murder. The Ramseys, who have professed their innocence and have said evidence links an intruder to JonBenet's killing, now have homes in Georgia and Michigan, the suit says. In March 2002, the Ramseys reached an out-of-court cash settlement with a former detective who wrote a book accusing the couple of killing their daughter. The Ramseys agreed to drop a libel lawsuit against the ex-detective.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Former Minnesota governor and pro wrestler Jesse Ventura's brief career as a television host is on the mat and possibly down for the count. A spokeswoman for cable news channel MSNBC said on Wednesday that Ventura's Saturday evening talk show, "Jesse Ventura's America," has been taken off the air with no immediate plans to bring it back. MSNBC President Erik Sorenson disclosed the move in a staff memorandum this week, saying he wanted to focus the network's resources next year on prime-time hours Monday through Friday, the spokeswoman said. However, Ventura will continue to serve as a political commentator for MSNBC, a unit of General Electric Co., during the 2004 campaign season, she said. Ventura's show, taped before a live audience in St. Paul, Minnesota, debuted in October with then-California Gov. Gray Davis (news - web sites) and political columnist Arianna Huffington appearing as his first guests. The combative, bald-pated host closed each segment by picking a "hero" and a "dork" of the week. The show, which has struggled in the ratings, originally was conceived by MSNBC as a nightly prime-time program but was scaled back to Saturday evenings only by the time it launched. The flamboyant former grappler once known as "The Body" previously served as a commentator for the short-lived XFL (news - web sites) football league, a joint venture between his onetime WWE boss Vince McMahon and MSNBC's sister broadcast network, NBC. The demise of Ventura's show is the latest in a string of high-profile misfires to dog MSNBC this year. In February, the cable channel canceled Phil Donahue's nightly program after just six months on the air, citing poor ratings. In July, controversial talk show host Michael Savage was fired after wishing AIDS (news - web sites) on a caller.

It might not be a thumbs-up from Roger Ebert, but Mel Gibson has snagged a key four-star review for his controversial film The Passion of Christ. According to published reports, none other than Pope John Paul (news - web sites) II has given his blessing to Gibson's biblical epic detailing the last hours in the life of Jesus Christ. According to Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan, the ailing pontiff screened The Passion on DVD with his closest friend and secretary, Monsignor Staislaw Dziwisz, in his private residence 10 days ago. The intermediary then reportedly passed along a five-word review from John Paul to one of the film's producers, Steve McEveety: "It shows how it was," the 83-year-old Pope was quoted as saying. Although brief, the remark lends some heavyweight clout to the film, which chronicles the last 12 hours of Christ's life and the Crucifixion as relayed in the New Testament. The Passion had come under attack as anti-Semitic for allegedly reviving the discredited notion that Jews were responsible for Christ's death. A papal spokesperson not available for comment Friday; other Vatican (news - web sites) officials have refused to confirm or deny the Pontiff's assessment. Officials with the Anti-Defamation League said they would respect the Pope's positive reaction to the movie. "The Pope has a record and history of sensitivity to the Jewish community and has a clear moral voice and understanding when it comes to anti-Semitism," Abraham H. Foxman, U.S. director of the watchdog group, said in a statement issued Thursday. The ADL has protested what it considered negative stereotypes of Jews and "obvious historical mistakes" after reviewing a leaked copy of an early draft of the script and viewing the film in August. Gibson has since made some cuts, and the ADL admits it has not seen the most recent version. "We hope that Mel Gibson (news) has heard our concerns and those of Christian and Jewish scholars and religious leaders, who expressed unease about the earlier version...and its potential to fuel, rationalize and legitimize anti-Semitism," said Foxman. The actor-director, whose own religious leanings have come under scrutiny, has repeatedly dismissed criticism that the film is intended to be anti-Semitic, saying it was meant "to inspire, not offend." Gibson reportedly spent close to $30 million of his own money making The Passion, which stars Jim Caviezel as Jesus and Monica Bellucci (news) as Mary Magdalene. The film's dialogue is chiefly in Latin and Aramaic with English subtitles. The Gibson-run Icon Productions has been hosting sneak-peek screenings of early versions of the film for various religious leaders and Hollywood players, many of whom have responded positively to the depiction. However last month, the New York Post illegally obtained a bootleg copy of a rough cut of The Passion and screened it for its own roundtable of critics that included a rabbi, a priest, a college professor and one of its columnists, all of whom had mixed feelings on the subject. Federal authorities subsequently launched an investigation into how the tabloid obtained the tape, which the Post eventually returned to the Oscar winner. No charges have been filed. The Passion of Christ (previously titled The Passion but changed because Miramax already has a film by that name in the works) is being distributed by New Market Films and is scheduled to hit theaters in time for Lent, on February 25. ------------------------------------------------ I'm looking forward to seeing this.
