    Playstation2 woes...

My PS2 is ill. Please pray or add advice for it. Here's my story: Tonight after work, I went to play a DVD and it started out fine, but a few minutes into it, it just stopped all of a sudden and all this driver info and stuff flashed on the screen, like it was trying to function, but nothing was happening. So, I took the disc out and cleaned it off, just to be sure, and I also blew into the slot and all that jazz, to make sure there was no dust or shit inside the disc area. So, I pop it back in and it starts to play just fine, so as I was rejoycing the fact that it worked again, it fucks up on me again. This time, it just stops all together and a black screen appears with "This function can not be performed" on it. So, I decided to check my PS2 games and see if they function properly, and they do. All perfectly fine and runs as good as ever. But again, the DVD player doesn't work. Agh. What the fuck? I've never had ANY problems with my PS2 at all, and now this. Please, somebody tell me whats the dilly-o with this. Is it common? Any ideas? Anything at all. Thanks, Bif

Curiously, where did you trade it in, and how much did you get for it towards the new model? I brought it over to EB Games and they gave me $90 for it towards the new one.

    Playstation2 woes...

Anyways, my PS2 woes have officially come to an end. This afternoon, I traded in my 5 yr old, broken down, not-functioning PS2 for a brand new SLIM-JIM model! This thing is freakin' sweet. It's so small, its not even funny. I also managed to hook it up to its online capabilities, and I must say its pretty underwhelming at first. I mean, I tried SmackDown vs RAW and immediately noticed some lagging in the game play, so I shut that off. Then I started to have a game of ESPN NFL 2K5, and took on some dude who I swear was a professional video gamer. As soon as we started, he went into the Game Plan and began adjusting his roster and settings. Obviously, not his first time.....unlike me. Anyways, I'd say it will be more enjoyable as I play more. It would also be more interesting to play people you know as well. Who here has online capabilities? We should meet up for a game, if possible.

I went to play a couple of games today and I can't get past the main Menu screen. It just automatically shoots back to the beginning everytime I try and select an option. Anyone?

    The Royal Rumble Legacy

This thread is dedicated to, agruabley, everyones favorite Pay Per View of the year. The Royal Rumble is always an exciting show that has a distinct feel and build-up to it. It always delivers in one way or another and has a few, or at least one, memorable moment from every year. So, with this year's show scheduled for next week, I figured I'd start this thread so we could all discuss our favorite matches and moments of the last 17 WWE Royal Rumbles... Here's a few quick Royal Rumble facts: 1) Stone Cold has the most Royal Rumble wins with three. 2) Big Show is the only Superstar to be the last man eliminated on two occasions. 3) The luckiest number to draw is No. 27 as that Superstar has won four times. 4) Drawing No. 30 is seen as a huge advantage, but the Superstar to draw No. 30 has never won the Royal Rumble. 5) It is seen as a huge disadvantage to draw No. 1, but the Superstar to draw No. 1 has won twice. 6) Tito Santana and Bret "Hit Man" Hart were the first-ever Royal Rumble participants. 7) "The Natural" Butch Reed was the first-ever WWE Superstar eliminated. 8) Jake "The Snake" Roberts recorded the first elimination in Royal Rumble history. 9) The second Royal Rumble in 1989 was actually the first Royal Rumble to appear on Pay-Per-View. 10) Ax and Smash of Demolition drew numbers 1 and 2, proving that it’s every man for himself. 11) 1991 was Undertaker’s first Royal Rumble, and he recorded three eliminations before being ousted by Legion of Doom. 12) Bushwhacker Luke was eliminated in three seconds in 1991, which is a record for shortest time spent in the ring. 13) Hulk Hogan became the first Superstar to win two Royal Rumbles when he won in 1990 & 1991. 14) The 1992 Royal Rumble was the first and only time that the WWE Heavyweight Championship was on the line – Ric Flair entered at No. 3 and outlasted every Superstar to become WWE Champion. 15) Yokozuna recorded 7 eliminations during the 1993 Royal Rumble, which set a new record. 16) At the 1994 Royal Rumble, Diesel cleaned house and tied the record, recording 7 eliminations (all consecutively). It then took five Superstars to get rid of the big man. 17) Lex Luger and Bret “Hit Man” Hart both hit the floor at exactly the same time at the 1994 Royal Rumble as they were named as the first ever co-winners. 18) Shawn Michaels became the first Superstar to enter at No. 1 and win the Royal Rumble in 1995 – the final two Superstars ended up being the first two to enter as British Bulldog was eliminated by Michaels. 19) Shawn Michaels became the second Superstar to win two Royal Rumbles when he won in 1996. 20) In 1997, Stone Cold became the first Superstar to be eliminated, but still win the Royal Rumble – the referees did not see when he was eliminated, so he snuck back in and recorded the winning elimination when he tossed Bret “Hit Man” Hart. 21) Mick Foley became the first Superstar to enter the Royal Rumble three different times in 1998 as Cactus Jack entered at No. 1, Mankind entered at No. 16 and Dude Love entered at No. 28. 22) Stone Cold became the third Superstar to win the Royal Rumble twice in 1998. 23) Mr. McMahon made his only Royal Rumble appearance in 1999 and made the most of it as he won, eliminating Stone Cold with some help from The Rock and his Corporation. 24) In 2000, Rikishi tied the record for most eliminations, dumping 7 Superstars. 25) The Rock won his only Royal Rumble in 2000. 26) Drew Carrey became the first celebrity entrant into the Royal Rumble in 2001 – he eliminated himself after being scared off by Kane. 27) Kane recorded a new record, which still stands today, of 10 eliminations in 2001. He also recorded an additional elimination with the help of Undertaker. 28) Stone Cold set a new record in 2001, winning his third Royal Rumble. 29) Maven shocked the world in 2002, eliminating The Undertaker. 30) Triple H won his only Royal Rumble in 2002 after he eliminated Kurt Angle. 31) Tommy Dreamer brought weapons with him to the ring, bringing a hardcore flavor to the Rumble in 2003 for the first time. 32) Chris Benoit became the second person at No. 1 to win the Royal Rumble (when Shawn Michaels did it, though, there were only 60 seconds in between entrants compared with the two minutes in 2004). Here's a few quick questions: - Favorite Royal Rumble match? - Favorite Royal Rumble event? - Favorite non-Royal Rumble match? - Favorite WWE Championship match at the Rumble? - Favorite non-WWE Royal Rumble entrant? - Who will win the 2005 WWE Royal Rumble?
  18. With New Year’s Revolution behind them and the 2005 Royal Rumble on the immediate horizon, it looks like all hell is about to break loose for the Superstars of RAW. Can Triple H hold Evolution together, or has the animal Batista had all he can take? Will RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff reveal exactly when and where Randy Orton will get his long-awaited title shot against "The Game?" In the spirit of competition, Chris Benoit will battle Chris Jericho in a blockbuster match. Both Superstars are ailing from the damage done in the Elimination Chamber, and both are submission specialists. Will it be the Crippler Crossface or the Walls of Jericho ruling RAW this coming Monday night? On the heels of last week’s brutal beating at the hands of the maniacal Gene Snitsky, Kane will get another shot at payback on RAW. But what is Kane's condition? It's impossible to predict what will happen when these two 300-plus pound monsters go head-to-head again. Rumble qualifying matchups are sure to continue, as the 30-man field starts to take shape. Which Superstars will find themselves with a golden opportunity to go the distance on Jan. 30 live on pay-per-view, and emerge with a Heavyweight title shot at WrestleMania 21? After the unholy conflagration between Edge and Shawn Michaels that ripped through the arena last week, it will be interesting, to say the least, to see what Edge has to say for himself this week — as well as how HBK plans to deal with a man who has absolutely no respect for anything he has accomplished in his glorious 16-year WWE career. Muhammad Hassan is certainly not afraid to express his controversial opinions regarding America and its citizens, and it’s a safe bet we will once again be subjected to his inflammatory rhetoric. The question is: Can anyone shut his mouth for him? For the answers to all these questions and more, tune in tonight on SPIKE TV!

    Quick EWR question

I've started my game of EWR and I'm in about 2 or 3 weeks. I pull off average shows, with typical booking and the like, but the one thing keeps bothering me. I keep getting messages saying that SpikeTV or UPN are worried about the risky nature of the shows. How do I change that? Is there an actual option somewhere to modify the risk factor or do I book some regular plain old school wrestling matches to tone it down? Hmm? Also, how do I boast morale for some of my guys? (ie) Jericho at 14% morale.

    Without A Paddle

Last night I rented two movies at the place down my street to watch after RAW. They had movies on 2 for 1, but there wasn't many left since it was getting late. Anyways, I figured I'd pick up ANCHORMAN again, because it was a safe bet personally. The other was, WITHOUT A PADDLE. I havent heard much about the movie, so I took a chance on it. Anyhow, I watched RAW last night, fucked around on the internet, and it was getting late, so I popped in ANCHORMAN and fell asleep watching it. So now there's about 2 hours or so until I have to bring them back, and I'm wondering if its worth it to watch WITHOUT A PADDLE. Anyoen seen it? Is it funny? thoughts? Etc.

    Quick EWR question

Cool. Thanks guys. But as far as Jericho goes, I have him in a World Heavyweight Title feud with Triple H (is that why?!?) and he's getting top bookings. I also released Ultimo Dragon last week and his morale fell hard following that. Anyways, I'll try..
