I exposed several of my friends to Stranger Than Paradise, making us all a bunch of nerds who quote it at random. -
That's the Goodfellas quote, yeah, but, if memory serves, Mos Def changes it to "play me." Since he was complaining radio doesn't play him.

And it's funny, too. Much more so than Napolean Dynamite. -

Stranger Than Paradise has a skeleton of a plot and moves at a snail's pace, yet it's something of a masterpiece. Chew on that while I go smoke. -
That said, it still isn't as bad as the worst moments on The New Danger. That whole "FUCK YOU, PLAY ME" chant? How very Durst of him!

Eh, the song is merely mediocre until the part where he starts "rocking," at which point it's totally awful.

I thought ND was passable, but the scene where he danced after Pedro's speech was excruciating. -

We really need an emoticon of a smiley, looking forlorn, playing a violin. -
This reminds me that the song you quoted is the worst on that album.

I was never able to click on his Napolean Dynamite thread simply for the subtitle. -
I don't care about any of those dudes. They may've helped birth rock, but I have no interest in listening to them.

Oh god, is he one of those DVD collector scum? I can't stand those fucks; they dig through the Wal-Mart five dollar bin just to inflate their fucking collection. They don't care about what kind of movies they have as long as they have more than you. Horrible. -
Sometimes Wal-Mart doesn't have what I want!

"Rock" is a catch-all term for any band with a guitar. "Rock and roll" should only be reserved for an act that encompasses elements of 50s/60s rock, ie soul and the blues. The Dirtbombs are one of the few rock and roll bands around, I think.

Downhome likes movies for all the wrong reasons. He thinks because he likes indie films that it makes him special somehow. -
His AIM away message: If you feel old now, wait another three years.

Sometimes I wanna talk about movies, but the proper folder for it is one of the worst on the board. -
The only thing worse than Ashlee Simpson are the people who won't shut up about her. Yes, those people are worse than Hitler.

Matt Young is like the annoying little brother that wants the older brother's approval. I don't want a little brother, either; if I did, I'd just fuck my mother and wait the nine months, ya know?

I'll peruse it next time I'm at Borders or something. Speaking of Big Star, the first two albums are terrific, but the sequencing's a bit off. #1 Record ends with this weird little squibble of a song, which feels more like an interlude than a conclusion. Radio City comes closer to getting it right, but still misses the mark; its "I'm in Love With a Girl"—a brief, spare piece that's just Chilton and a guitar—could pull off its closing position easily if it had followed some epic number (sorta like the calm after the storm), but it doesn't. Instead, it is preceded by another short, but far more forgettable track called "Morpha Too." Weird. At least Third/Sister Lovers gets it right. "Take Care" is a fantastic closer. That the album itself is overrated is another matter.
