Awkward moments involving roommates.
Giuseppe Zangara replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in No Holds Barred
2. Walking to the bathroom, your pass by your roommate's bedroom. The door is open, and without thinking about it, you happen to turn your head in that direction only to see your roommate asleep and splayed on his bed, wearing only his boxers, with his erect penis protruding from the flap. -

Slayer, that post was both a response to Byron's stupid one and a swipe, however indirectly, at me. I was only trying to help. -

It's slang. Means something that is true or factual. Has nothing to do with the internet. -
I am surprised by just how much I like them. They're like if Bob Pollard loved the Homosexuals and Swell Maps more than the Who and the Byrds. EDIT: Be aware that I normally hate the "this band sounds like that band crossed with this other band" simile. It simply fits here.

They have some nice songs, but listening to an entire album is an endurance test.

Byron needs a time out.

That looks like it says "MILFY" -
The vocals are ridiculously stupid, which, I suppose, is the point. One of the songs I heard on their myspace space sound as if the vox were recorded through a bong. That said, "Frenzy Lesbians" is the only of those titles to make me chuckle. The rest read as if they came from a grindcore title generator.

The Atlas Sound album I like; the Hello Blue Roses one I've yet to give a fair shot, as the one time I tried I was immediately turned off by the female singer's voice.

Where's your father? He's upstairs masturbating to gay porn.

As for Brain Candy, I don't even think it lasted a week here. (Opened on Friday; gone by Wednesday.) My friend and I were the only people at the screening I attended. -

Fifth, I think. The problem wasn't just stricter guidelines on what they could and could not get away with on CBS compared to HBO. From what I've read, relations between the Kids were becoming strained, to the point that more outside writers were brought in to help give the show some focus. This didn't help. The new writers stunk, and the cast members had grown less and less interested in working together. Increasingly, sketches were rehashes of old ideas and the best of the regular characters were continuously trotted out well past their expiration date. -

Awful movie. These guys were a lost cause after they moved from HBO. -
I was thinking that, too, re: NYC, but all reports indicate that the movie still takes place in the city. I wouldn't be surprised if they had gone with a Gotham-esque substitute.

I liked Watchmen a lot up until the last couple of chapters, for reasons I explained in the thread about the upcoming film version. I'm rereading The Road right now. As much as I liked it the first time, I find myself loving it this second time. It's up there with Blood Meridian as far as McCarthy's best works go.

I'm sure I've said this before, but New Miserable Experience is a good album. Its only crime is being a little too glossy on the production end. Perfectly respectable Chilton-aping.

You've grown a lot these past couple of years.

Absolutely the worst thing about going to the movies these past couple of months.

Thanks for the advice, FroGG_NeaL.

Not enough substitution of "z" for the "s" at the end of words. B- Read the user comments, dude.

Albums I bought in the last couple of months: Genesis - Wind & Wuthering Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters Can - Tago Mago Can - Future Days Can - Delay 1968 Tago Mago and Future Days were remastered upgrades of albums I already owned.

Does this play before every movie, regardless of theatre? May I see Alvin & the Chipmunks and be safe from this?

Given the moral ambiguities of its characters, calling Ozymandias a "bad guy" was a poor word choice on my part. What I should've said was I simply didn't find interesting the more traditional Genius Who Wants to Take Over the World plot twist introduced in the final two chapters. And given how relatively little space was given to Ozymandias prior to the twist, I had trouble caring.
-
Honestly, I thought Ozymandias was pretty dull as a bad guy. Not to say they should give the evil part to Doc; making the only one of them with remotely superhuman powers the evil one would be far too predictable.

The talk of Watchmen being unfilmable is overstated. Yes, some streamlining will have to occur, but it isn't as if doing that for film adaptations of books is unheard of. The only real limitation is just how dark a Hollywood studio would want a big budget movie to be? Homosexuality—which plays only a small part in the book, anyway—isn't exactly verboten. Neither is a scene of attempted rape, nor the scene where the Comedian kills the pregnant Vietnamese woman. This is nothing that couldn't be in a R-rated movie. A movie that the studio very likely wants to be a huge hit? That's all I can see standing in the way of the translation. As for Doc Manhattan's aversion to clothes, eh. So they put him in an outfit. Acceptable loss.

I hope this broadens the understanding of Matt Young's suffering.
