Enough's been written about how Watchmen was a groundbreaking work in the comic/graphic novel medium. I don't doubt that's true, but much of what made it so revoluntionary—the complex narrative; its metafictive qualities, etc.—was nothing new in either films or novels. I've said as much to that friend of mine, but I don't think he's listening. He keeps telling me how I should go about reading the book. Telling me I should read all of it straight through. ("Really? All of it? You mean I can't skip around like I do with regular books?") That I, once finished, should read another book and then come back to Watchmen again, so I can pick up what I missed the first time. Hey, it's kinda cute that he's so excited about me reading it, but I get the impression that he wasn't aware things like foreshadowing and symbolism existed outside of or prior to this book.

At the behest of my comic-loving friend, I am reading Watchmen. It's good, but I doubt it's going to lead to me taking comics more seriously, which I think is what he was hoping.

I apologize for posting that, fellas.

"Guitar-driven" doesn't fill me with hope; Monster was garbage, after all.

There comes a point where getting older stops being a reason for celebration. -
Oof, Landed. Can goes jazz rock. End result is about as good as any other band doing jazz rock.

I rarely ever buy the remastered versions of albums I already have, but given just how much better they sound over the originals, I've slowly been picking up the Can remasters since Mute first started reissuing them in 2004. Today, I picked up the reissue of Tago Mago, inspiring my revisiting the record for the first time in a few years. Tago Mago is, for the most part, a fantastic album, but the combined near half-hour running time of the "Aumgn" and "Peking O" nearly sinks the entire affair. A shame, considering the incredible stretch of music—"Paperhouse" to "Mushroom" to "Oh Yeah" to the krautfunk monster that is "Halleluhwah"—that precedes it is epic.

I was being nice to leena, I thought. I left out the part how, unlike I did CJ, I never found her entertaining.

CJ's not being invited during the early stages of one of those TSM satellite boards hurt him worse than when his marriage fell apart. Out of context, you might think he was joking, but no, he was serious. That said, I thought his shtick was amusing sometimes, but anyone who tries that hard to purvey and maintain a board persona over the years obviously takes this business far too seriously, to the detriment or because of their personal life. See also leena.

His voice was slightly soft in the video, but blame that on bathroom acoustics. I wouldn't call it a lisp.

Of my inner circle of friends, I'm the closest to 30; the rest are in their mid-20s. I hate them for their youth and beauty. -
Kinetic, you don't have a lisp. Gene was projecting.

My recent immersion in The Wire has inspired me to use more slang—both cop and street—in daily conversation. For instance, I have suction with the head of my department. "To have suction with" was a concept alien to me prior to watching this show. -

I went out, ate and had a few drinks with some friends, but they we're all "hey, let's go to a club" and I was all "hey, I'm going to go home and have a quiet night of reflection and reading." Which was better than saying what I knew I'd end up doing: drinking some more, listening to some music and dicking around on the internet. -

Condom, since you shared, I'll own up to turning 29. Even if I hadn't said that, I'm sure my personal historian Sensei John Kreese would've revealed it. -

I've been privy to some hilariously pathetic private conversations CJ had with certain other members of this board. The guy's personal life was a fucking wreck.
