And yeah, Tom Waits released some of the best work of his career in the 80s. And XTC had Black Sea (1981), English Settlement (1982) and Skylarking (1986), all of which are fanfriggintastic.

Talking Heads' best stuff came out in the 70s, but that's not to slight their 80s work. But seriously, everything Hüsker Dü did—from Zen Arcade to Warehouse—is so, so, so good.

About a week ago: After several shots of whiskey, I had a couple of cigarettes. Last night: I was in a bad mood, so a friend of mine let me have a couple of her clove cigs. I felt better afterwards. This a big deal for me, really.

I have no guilty pleasures. I can defend everything I like without shame.

We've been getting the outer edge of it, too, but it's been several hours of wind with sporadic rain.
