And that he's been trying dick lately lololololololololololol
-
I've noticed FrigidSoul's been trying on the "dick" persona lately. I approve.
-
Maybe he's been confirmed, but hasn't checked the confirmation email yet. WHY MUST HE TEASE US SO?

I'm just so full of piss and rage and ire lately. Maybe it's cuz my girlfriend dumped me, or that so many people here have been ripping me off to the point where I'm losing what makes me me. Me on internetland, that is. I'm not some loser nerd lol.

Okay, I'm quitting the board.

This band feud is more of a tard fight.

Some of you are too young/ill-informed to know this, but emo—prior to all these radio and MTV jackoffs hearing Pinkerton for the first time—was not a bad thing. Perfectly respectable/good bands like Sunny Day Real Estate (before they went prog) and Nation of Uylsses were considered "emo" over a decade ago. These bands actually, ya know, rocked rather than whine and moan and play the most sugary, syrupy guitars as possible. Emo is horrible now, but it had its moments; nü metal can't even benefit from that, unless you think Chino Moreno's liking My Bloody Valentine means something.

Who was this person. I'm not saying that to be funny, either. I've no memory of that person on this board.

The only way for this story to have a happy ending is for everyone involved to die in a plane crash.

Not that simple, really. Sonic Youth: The best is Daydream Nation, though that is neither here nor there. Don't get every album, man. Don't do that. I mean, I love some Bob Dylan, but there's just no need to own every one of his 30+ albums. The Residents: Aside from file-sharing services, the best way to acquire a Residents album is through Forced Exposure or from The Residents themselves. As an aside, they've been signed to Mute Records, whom apparently will help make their back catalog more easily available. And I really like Eskimo a lot, though, honestly, the best Residents album I have is a mix a friend made me for me a couple of years ago, which is what got me into them in the first place. As for the rest, I'll touch on the only bands you listed I'm interested in: Guided By Voices—Robert Pollard writes some well pop hooks. Most people will say that their lo-fi stuff was the best (Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes). Those albums are good, but I prefer the more Rock side of GBV, best heard in Mag Earwhig! and Isolation Drills. Beat Happening—This band, along with Pavement, is the reason there's so much awful indie rock. Too many no-talent hacks thought being sloppy was all it took; none of them realized that, though Beat Happening (and Pavement) were far from skilled musicians, they still wrote good songs. Enough about Pavement, though. Beat Happening was far less cynical and way more offbeat and weird. Check out Jamboree or Dreamy.

Did you even read what Agent and Edwin said? I've never understood people such as yourself. How can anyone go through life so willfully ignorant?

Yeah, Banky is pretty awesome, sometimes.

Re: Kanye West Whenever I listen to that album, I always stop right when he begins the TRL-style life story on "Last Call." I've only made it all the way through that track once; I personally don't give a shit what kind of shoes Jay-Z was wearing when West told him he, Kanye, could rap. Re: Modest Mouse True about "Trucker's Atlas." It's not a bad song, but working against is 1) poor placement in an already overstuffed album, and 2) it's an overstuffed album. But now I'm back to wondering why this length issue is more prevelant in rap. Nas' Illmatic is just under 40 minutes, and it's widely considered one of greatest albums of the genre. Why can't more artists realize it's not how much you put on there, but what you put on there? Is catering to a fanbase that demands as much as possible for their money really worth it? I doubt making something 50 minutes instead of 80 minutes will put a dent in record sales.

I'm mad...And that's a fact I found out...Animals don't help Animals think...They're pretty smart Shit on the ground...See in the dark. They wander around like a crazy dog Make a mistake in the parking lot Always bumping into things Always let you down down down down. They're never there when you need them They never come when you call them They're never there when you need them The nevere come when you call them down down down down. I know the animals...Are laughing at us They don't even know...What a joke is I won't follow...Animal's advice I don't care...If they're laughing at us. They're never there when you need them They never come when you call them They're never there when you need them The nevere come when you call them down down down down. They say they don't need money They're living on nuts and berries They say animals don't worry You know animals are hairy? They think they know what's best They're making a fool of us They ought to be more careful They're setting a bad example They have untroubled lives They think everything's nice They like to laugh at people They're setting a bad example (Go ahead) Laugh at me.

The beach (which I live ten minutes away from) in Jacksonville sucks, by the way. Overcrowded and kinda dirty. St. Augustine, which is about 40 minutes away, has a really lovely beach, though they tend to have security at night, meaning less sex and drinking on the sand under the moonlit sky, which is really the only things I like about the beach to begin with. -

I could deal with snow, though blizzards that lock you in your house and shut down the city are something I'm glad I don't have to experience. However, sweating without the benefit of physical exertion (like exercising or whatever) ranks very high on my list of Thing I Really Hate Doing. -
Fine, but my basic point stands.

I think someone who looks to Dream Theater for musical edification has an entirely different outlook on music than people like Edwin or myself.
-
My beef is with the spit-shine production, as well as many of the song's almost parodic lyrics. There's some real groaners on that album.
-
How does an onstage tantrum—which, from what I gather, is nothing unusual for this band—indicate a break up is on the horizon?

I'll take one of your winters for one of our suffocatingly humid summers. Including my car, which has no air conditioning. -

Oh, hush. When you've lived in the south all your life, it is cold.
