    Your first favorite band

Boyz II Men were better than most of the bands mentioned in this thread.

    Your first favorite band

Either Fishbone or Gwar; my becoming obsessed with them both occurred around the same time.

    The Darjeeling Limited

It played before the movie proper. I'd already seen it, too, but I liked seeing it again.

    The Darjeeling Limited

Best moments: 1. The river/funeral village scene. 2. The flashback where the brothers attempt to take their father's car to his funeral. 3. The Hotel Chevalier short. I'll add I find the praise Owen Wilson's performance has been receiving slightly odd; he's arguably the film's weak link. The character is just Dignan in a different environment, and Wilson does little to make him other than Dignan-esque.

    The Darjeeling Limited

I'd argue that The Darjeeling Limited is Wes Anderson's most immediate and best film since Rushmore. I think this film felt a bit more human and less glib than the last couple of Anderson outings, so the decidedly mixed response this one's been getting is a bit of a surprise to me. I've read a number of reviews/heard from a number of people who say that it might grow on them. While I more or less love TDJ the first time out, I can understand why someone would feel they need to sit down with it again; Anderson's movies don't always open themselves up upon first exposure; I didn't begin to truly appreciate both The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic until their respective second viewings.

All Time songs you hate the most

I give props to Rundgren for following his muse wherever it's taken him these past 30 years, but so much of what he does is completely ridiculous/bad. I'd give him further credit for not trying to recreate his past successes, but his involvement in the New Cars is fairly questionable. Profiting on someone else's past glories? Uh....

All Time songs you hate the most

I think I mentioned this before, but I had the chance to see Todd Rundgren earlier this year, and for cheap, but skipped it. I would've gone if I knew he wouldn't play anything post-1975 outside of "Can We Still Be Friends?" and "Bang the Drum All Day." Hell, I could've lived without the last song, but that's the one everybody knows, so I can deal with it.

I love that moment in Hall & Oates's cover of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" where the duo trade off vocals in an increasingly soulful fashion. Oates had a decent singing voice; he was just so completely overshadowed by Hall.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

I had one for awhile, but was OCD-irritated how it didn't accurately reflect my computer-based listening habits. I deleted it.

Album-wise? No. A reasonably stocked single disc comp should fill the necessities outside of that one record. Given what you're generally into, I'm surprised you didn't know much about the Zombies already.

Fucking Odessey and Oracle (sic). One of the best albums of the 60s. Get on that shit yesterday.

    Good parts of bad movies

The hotel room scene at the end of The Brown Bunny almost redeemed the hour of largely uninterrupted driving the preceded it.

All Time songs you hate the most

Whenever Blender does an "overrated" or "worst" list, this, without fail, is the make-up: * The inclusion of a contemporary "hip" act or a classic, canonized act to show that they aren't afraid to buck trends. * The inclusion of an act that two years ago was the subject a fawning cover story and numerous write-ups. * A bunch of safe, obvious choices to fill space.

    Let's send Ripper some water

Well, up until a month-or-so ago, I suppose we were going through something that was not unlike a drought. Then began the three week period where, except for a couple of breaks, it rained all day, every day.

    Let's send Ripper some water

It's been raining like fuck for most of the past month in Florida; I was surprised to learn, in spite of that, we were still going through a drought.

Thanks for the water, Georgia. I've been leaving my shower running for the past couple of hours.

Let's start talking Best Album of 2007.

Jay-Z makes as many good albums as he does bad ones. That's something people seem to forget when he releases a turd like Kingdom Come and decide to write him off for good.

I saw Celebration live once; I was able to stand one song before me and my friend stepped out on the patio.

What about Jeff Mangum sightings? Do you hear a lot of Neutral Milk Hotel in the hipster bars?
