Have you visited Chris Coey in jail.

Good thread.

Like how could I not include Wire's "Ex-Lion Tamer" in that list? I was well aware and plenty appreciative of that song then, but it's not on that list. Why not? Such a great song.
-
I happen to still love all these songs, but it's no top ten list these days. Fuck this thread.
-
It's not so much being proud as it is recognizing I have good taste.
-
If I were to listen to it now, I'm sure I could pick out some nice bits. So, I'm not saying it's worthless. Anyway, for what it's worth, even when I thought it was good, the album's back half totally dragged.

Considering the source material and that the release of The Sixth Sense predated the film version of Fight Club by only a couple of months, that is a bad comparison.

Those three weeks when I liked it seem so long ago.

This, coming from the guy who wanted white rapper recs???

The gauzey love scene in the Redux was so unintentionally hilarious.

The title track to Deerhunter's Cryptograms is another favorite; "Lake Somerset" from that same album is also fantastic.

Say hi to the creepy people. Hello, creepy people.

It's "Scott Keith's Biggest Fan." That's his name, so show some respect. -
This thread's gonna include a lot of songs I don't know, as I'm not much better at keeping up with new stuff than I am at keeping up with radio-friendly garbage. That said, I also feel very strongly about !!!'s "Must Be the Moon," though its parent album, Myth Takes, isn't a threat to my meager list of favorites from this year.

Have you seen Bad Timing, Milky? Have we talked about it before? One of the most disturbing, fucked up movies I've ever witnessed. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080408/

That part in Bad Timing when Art Garfunkel and Theresa Russell meet each other after a lengthy absence and the camera turns on soft focus while all background action goes out of focus and the soundtrack fills with syrupy strings. I suppose Nicolas Roeg was going for something there—considering it comes in the middle of this supremely black, twisted tale of sexual obsession—but I don't like it.

That's weird that he dreamed she worked at Sonic. -

I hadn't heard of her until this thread, so you can imagine my confusion. Anyway, yeah, this is creepy. -
Let's stop listening to music.

It's been argued that "Take Me Out" also jacks "Trampled Underfoot." That doesn't bother me, but really, couldn't Finger Eleven have picked something older?
-
Oh, though I did hear this Finger Eleven—are they popular?—song yesterday that took the riff from Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out." Shouldn't there be a statute of limitations of at least 20 years on riff-lifting?

Justin Timberlake had some catchy songs, so I was fine with all the praise he would get. Somewhere along the way, however, it's gone from Timberlake worship to taking Kelly Clarkson seriously because she happened to listen to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. That's when I began shutting myself off.
