It's so hip to like Johnny Cash. You don't have to really like country to appreciate him, while enjoying Miles Davis requires that you actually like jazz (in its many forms, too). I suppose if Davis--had he lived long enough--covered Nine Inch Nails or Soundgarden, I'd be singing a different tune.

Tom Waits has remained solid over the last 30 years. He's released 15+ albums in that time, and only a couple of them are subpar (and aren't that bad, even then).

Speaking of Yoko Ono, I saw her speak at the CMJ Fest in NYC back in October, and, when they got to the Q&A session, someone asked her how she felt whenever anyone accused her of breaking up the Beatles. Everyone started booing, until Yoko just shrugged her shoulders and said, "Fact's a fact. I did break up the Beatles."
