    Does anyone here know Thursday?

"It's as if Morrissey fronted a hardcore band!"

Maybe it meant she took a morning load. *boner*

    Book recommendations

I'm gonna start on Mailer's The Executioner's Song in the next day or so. Afterwards, I'll get a couple of significantly shorter books in before starting William Gass' The Tunnel; I need to read as many telephone book-sized epics as I can before summer's end.
  4. And oh, jeez, again, not "useless," but this place is, sadly, the best and most authoritative site on John Updike and all matters relating to Updike. The layout is like some Geocities production from 1996. Navigating it is frustrating, though, if you have patience, it does occasionally bear fruit.
  5. One of Todd Rundgren's sons has his own website, one of the few on the web that could legitimately be dismissed as "useless." To make matters worse, Rebop (yes, that's his real name) looks just like daddy, right down to the gaps between his teeth. Poor kid. His father, meanwhile, has a website of his own, which, while definitely more useful than his son's, is much, much worse.

I once got a boner watching a Kelly Clarkson video.

    Bad Covers

Goofy boy band covering a goofy arena rock song from the 80s doesn't really constitute "bad," much less winning this thread. That was amusing, though.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

I unintentionally implicated myself in the murders of the Benoit family.

Most of them concerned how he went about killing his wife and kid, but it's too late now we know how we did it.

I've been stockpiling some good Benoit-related jokes, but no one would take me seriously if I went into the wrestling folder.

Czech reserves frothing, vituperative animosity for some, tender pathos for others. Explain yourself, The Czech Republic.

HAHAHA... My ex-fiancee is in jail on a felony charge!

If, for Matt Young, it's any consolation, gary floyd's every attempt to rank on him has been a failure.

    Interpol - "The Heinrich Maneuver"

Obvious aside, that's an awful title. The song itself? Eh, pretty by the numbers for these guys, which doesn't give me much hope for the new album. The biggest difference from their norm is this song's emphasis on the guitar rather than the rhythm section; I don't think that's a great direction for this band, as their best material is usually bass-and-drum centered. (I think the only Interpol track where the guitar riff absolutely makes the song is "PDA.") The production's a bit crunchier, too, more processed than anything from their first two albums, a sound which may not do them any favors, either. Chalk that up to being on a major label now.

    Veg*n-ism.

I ate a medium rare cheeseburger today!

HAHAHA... My ex-fiancee is in jail on a felony charge!

What was the thread where Loaded Glove and I absolutely slaughtered Matt Young and Melissa Pena.

Though he's mostly been flying under the radar, Sly's been a real solid poster as of late.

    Interpol - "The Heinrich Maneuver"

I'm listening to this a second time. I'm still cringing that they fucking named a song "No I in Threesome," even moreso since it's actually a good song. I'm fine with it being about a regretted menage a trois, but really, calling it that?

    Interpol - "The Heinrich Maneuver"

Haha, I kinda like that cover.

    Interpol - "The Heinrich Maneuver"

"Evil" and, to a lesser extent, "Slow Hands" were the stand-outs. Based on one listen, this new one has no real bad songs (unlike Antics) and some geuinely good ones. I particularly like—in spite of its name—"No I in Threesome" and "Mammoth."

    Interpol - "The Heinrich Maneuver"

I like this more than I did Antics.

    Bad Covers

Roxy Music did a beautiful version of "Jealous Guy" that's only disliked by people with bad taste.

    Bad Covers

Covers are often fun, though, as I've said elsewhere on this board, all-covers albums are usually a bad idea. Here again are, in my estimation, the exceptions: The Dirtbombs - Ultraglide in Black Dump - That Skinny Motherfucker with the High Voice Bryan Ferry - These Foolish Things Since "Loverman" was mentioned, I'll say (and not for the first time) that Kicking Against the Pricks was largely forgettable.
