Kreese, I have to say that now, since we've discussed the aesthetics of "real talk," I'm afraid I'll never be able to use it here or in real life without coming off ironic or post-ironic or just plain dorky. This thread has saved me from some potentially awkward social encounters. Thanks. -

I'm waiting for the right moment to use "real talk, son." It hasn't come up. -

Not at all, no. -
Related: I'm looking forward to the Coen Brothers's adaptation of No Country for Old Men. Composer Carter Burwell talks a bit about working on the score for it on his website.

Have you read that interview he did with the New York Times around when ATPH came out? He seems like an interesting guy to talk to, as long as, ya know, you don't bring up his books.

Real talk. -
Oh, so you were pulling my leg with the McCarthy thing. Okay.

The Road came out in paperback this week. It wasn't supposed to be out until September, but they bumped up the publication date so Random House would sell even more copies, what with the Oprah endorsement and all. As for Oprah and this book, yeah, it's an intense, gruesome book at times (though nowhere near as much as say Child of God or Blood Meridian or whatnot), but it's arguably McCarthy's most accessible work to date. And in spite of the gloominess of the story, it's filled with hope. Also, I'm surprised to hear he spoke at your school. What'd he talk about?

I totally gave up on that Bellow, btw.

Dry? Cormac McCarthy is one of my favorite writers, you fuck. And I think it's great that Oprah picked his most recent book for her book club.

We have talked about this before, but Anna Karina runs weird for me. She's still very good looking, though. -
Chuck Klosterman will be brought in to ruin everything in the way that only he can. Seriously, it should be an oral history. Get Legs McNeil to put it together.

She's cute. Here's mine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Seberg edit: I originally had a larger picture here, but it was mildly stretched, giving Seberg an enlongated head. Not very flattering. -

Every post I made last night—including the two in this thread—were made under the influence of booze. I don't remember making any of them; seeing that I haven't embarrassed myself has been a pleasant surprise.

Basically, I'm really fascinated with the Chinese Democracy saga and hope some high quality rock writer (what few that exist) eventually writes a book on the whole mess, or at least puts together an oral history regarding it.

The drum machine on the verses was a little cheesy and I hated the samples that started around the three minute mark. And I don't think Vitamin X has ever actually heard what kind of music is played during the Your Local Forecast breaks on the Weather Channel. As for Rose's voice, yeah. He's getting into Tom Waits-territory there, but Waits can actually sing.

Given my work, I guess I could get in on Ruckus, but fuck that copy-protected shit. -

Thread was made in jest, though my appreciation for the song is genuine. -
