Maybe you should read some yourself. I can't imagine they'd take up too much of your time.

To be fair to Marvin, she seems as much a social leper as he is. Outside of never talking to her again—and someone in his situation cannot afford to be picky—he handled the situation as well as he could.

Has anyone here read any of those A Series of Unfortunate Events books? I've been giving serious consideration to reading some. Sounds like something I would've loved when I was a kid and still might appeal to me as an adult.

I've known of their existence for years, but have never knowingly listened to them. I feel safe in assuming I wouldn't care for them. And I like "Chest Fever," but I think it would take a truly weird band to come even close to pulling it off. That the Band—and they've even admitted as such—made it work was sort of like lightning in a bottle.

"Chest Fever" is such an odd song to cover.

Speaking of Califone, I have here on this comp a Rolling Stones cover show they did a few years back. It's fun stuff, even if they completely flub "Miss You." Disco's a lot harder to pull off than you might think.

I suppose none of that should be a surprise, but oof all the same.

That pic would be much hotter if she wasn't wearing something that looked like an altered tablecloth.

My god, look at those.

Giving up booze and heroin has done wonders for Chan, no doubt. Other than Jenny Lewis and Neko Case, I don't find anyone else mentioned in this thread attractive. Well, I guess I'd throw it in Sarah Silverman.

I don't remember making any of those posts. I was plastered last night. -

How does some dumb fucking nobody like Carlito Brigante get messages from WP but I, the guy who made this folder famous, get nil. What a fuck. -
Not so much tonight, but the weather here in FL has been nice for the past week. Getting down into the 60s and whatnot.

bob barron is one of the best guys here, don't front. -
Mingus's is fascinating if you want to read about all the different kinds of sex one of the greats of jazz had.

You're a little more forgiving of Leviathan's flaws than I am, I think. There's good stuff on that one, sure, but too much of it plays like a heavy metal book report. And "Hearts Afire" is a total snoozer. Yawn.

Jimmy McDonough's bio on Neil Young, Shakey, seems pretty sweet, if the parts I've read while in the bookstore are any indication. Maybe I'll get that one.

I need to read more music-related books. I started in with that 33&1/3 series earlier this year, but the awful one on Exile on Main Street killed the momentum I had going.

At this point, my only real complaint is that yes, it's a little too polished, but no matter when the material is this good. The pair of "Siberian Divide" and "Pendulous Skin" is the most perfect album closer I've heard in the last couple of years.

Spoon, we've seen no recent pictures of you. I only mention this because you've said that you look much different than you did circa all those old pictures of you. Man up, bro.

Did you ever get around to acquiring a fretless? I remember you talking about it. EDIT: Unrelated, but I think I'm coming around to your way of thinking re: Blood Mountain. How beautifully structured is that album? Goddamn.

You think Dave's been logging back into his account?

Tony Levin can actually work 12 strings, though. I just don't see what's so ridiculous—well, I do, but work with me here—about a nine string bass, considering there are more extreme (for lack of a better word) alternatives. I can imagine the the bass you posted would be a little more cumbersome than the comparatively sleek stick.
