Probably because people think they are beer connoisseurs by drinking a dark beer, even though it's mediocre compared to the more elite darks. There's a tendency among some beer snobs to dismiss Guinness. Based on beer review websites I've read, most of the criticism seems arbitrary. I guess it's that Guinness is usually the "best" beer you'll find at anyway halfway decent bar, so it's built a rep as being high class or whatever, which your more high-falutin' types bristle at, since they prefer their dark beers to come in stone bottles from a tiny region located in southwest Belgium. For me, Guinness is a reliable good beer, one I know I can get at about any bar I find myself in. It's reassuring, really.

Guinness is such a light and easy beer to drink. The "liquid bread" reputation it has is ridiculous; I could drink several of them in a row, but it wouldn't be the best way of getting drunk (since it only has about 4% alcohol).

People are going to see it and think it means "butterfly" or "fairy love" or something.

"Requiem" is the only track on Beat I don't care for. This sort of improvisation flew during the 70s era, but it's a sore thumb on an album like this. Plus, it's not even one of their more interesting improv tracks, anyway.

Check out King Crimson, 80s-era in particular. Discipline and Beat might win you over.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, more so than any other band, contains the biggest collection of supremely talented musicians (well, not including Anthony "Tone Deaf" Kiedes) to manage to make some really awful music.

Antics benefits from two songs that are arguably better than the best moments of TOTBL—"Slow Hands" and "Evil"—but yeah, Czech got it, the album is just too samey, especially in light of the debut. "Evil" should've been all over modern rock radio; I'm sure that the insanely stupid accompanying video with the puppet didn't have a hand in the song's lack of mainstream airplay, but you gotta wonder.
