Is Anyone Else Here a Shoegazer?
Giuseppe Zangara replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in General Chat
Kevin, bro, cut your hair. This isn't 1991 anymore. -
He made a post over at the crappy club for stupid jerks saying he's doing just fine, thank you. We all ignored the spelling errors, due to his infirmities, both physical and mental.

Drinking is awesome. Why would I want to give that up? Joke's on you, J0bber!
-
For some reason, I have J0bber on ignore. I don't know anything about him.
-
Jeez, I'm okay. Just a scratch on my arm from the airbag.

Listen to "Two Headed Boy." Every time Mangum reaches the upper end of his register, it causes distortion on the mic. The song was obviously recorded on a cheap tape deck.
-
I'm so over that.

I can't believe I just quoted Sublime. Awful.

Jerry Garcia only had nine-and-a-half fingers and he played guitar like a motherfucking riot.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

He was involved in a car accident recently. He's fine, really, other than the broken hand. He decided boarding with one good hand was no way to board, so he gave it up. -
You ever actually see this movie, though? Really boring and unerotic. I was disappointed.

lmao!

Oh man. Any time I'm tempted to feel sorry for the downward trajectory of Welles' career, I remember his own oversized ego was as much to blame as anything else.

ITAOTS is not an easy album to love, but it's possible. I'm nowhere near GRETEST ALBVUMM EVERR level, but yeah, I'm really fond of it. As for explaining, what can I say? I think Jeff Mangum was one hell of a songwriter and he knocked out some wonderful songs for that album, particularly during its first half. His delivery rivals that of a young Bob Dylan (I'm comparing the two in terms of passion overcoming lack of "good" singing, so no one piss themselves thinking that I said NMH is on the same plane as Dylan) and so what if the album wasn't "recorded very well." The songs themselves are very simple in structure and instrumentation, so they didn't need the highest fidelity.

Me neither. The title track is nice—even with the cheesy synthesizer and ho-hum lyrics—and "SOYCD" is good in stretches, but yeesh, the rest of the album is unrelentingly dull.
-
Also, "How Soon is Now?" stopped being enjoyble around the 373rd time I heard it. I envy people who only just got into the Smiths within the last couple of years.
-
"Reel Around the Fountain" is great. Meat is Murder would give The Queen is Dead a run for its money if the former didn't contain the title track, but then I've said that plenty of times over the years on this board, so whatever.

We have, and it plays into why I can't see someone claiming this is Pink Floyd's best album. "Echoes" eats up half of the total running time, when only half of "Echoes" itself is really solid. But the good parts, boy, they almost make up for the rest. Oh, and "Echoes" > "Atom Heart Mother," but then who'll disagree?
-
I'll grant you "Fearless," but my mind wanders during "Echoes." There's some really great sections in it, though.
-
wildpegasus has plenty of terrible posts, yet you keep singling out the few good ones.

I was listening to Meddle earlier. Using rational thought, how can anyone claim a Pink Floyd album that contains both "San Tropez" and "Seamus" to be the best Pink Floyd album? (I like "San Tropez," for what it's worth, but still.)
-
Of the six or seven Pink Floyd albums I've given serious consideration, I'd rank Dark Side of the Moon over all of them. A friend of mine brought up something interesting today. Out of all the major rock groups to come out of the sixties—the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, the Who, Led Zeppelin—Pink Floyd was the only one to still have all living members from their original line-up. Until now, anyway.

In person? I can't help you there, but there's always: http://www.beefheart.com/runpaint/

There's been speculation about Beefheart's health for over a decade.
