Let's not get hasty. He made a couple of good posts; he's still terrible. Though, we now have people thinking a mod or mods is/are responsible for wildpegasus. Just like the subby/banders days.

    Sounds of the Underground

Evergreen Terrace is from my town. They have an all-covers side project called xralphwiggumx. (Which is true and not just me making a Rando-stab at humor.)

    Syd Barrett Dead

He's basically been dead for over 30 years.

He's fucking with you, Kotz. And doing a stellar job of it, too.

Maybe you should try it. You never know, it could work. Either way please make sure to take a picture of yourself screaming and than scan it for the WP scanning thread. Because if the screming doesn't work than maybe the posting of the screaming will have extra superhuman strength and give posts the ability to go away. But even if the posts did disapear all I would have have to do is -- Well, I'm not sure what I'd have to do to make them reappear again. Would I have to scream louder than your scream to give my posts superduper strength over yours or would I have to do the opposite and speak very softly to make them appear again? I would say it'd probably be more fun if I had to scream louder than you to get them back. Than we could post scanned photo shots of our screams and have fun seeing who has more eye of the tiger post appearing/post disapearing power. But than that bears the question of what screamed photos would appear and disapear and how we would know what screams each of our own screams were going up against? How would we than implicate stragety? How would everyone reading the thread be able to keep track of what was happening? Perhaps if video cameras were kept at our individual living establishments we would help our fans out and ourselves in the long run (to plan stragety for future sessions) of course. This is a good post.

    The Quatermass Thread

I checked out The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway several months back. It was good, if a little too much to take in. Foxtrot appears to be a better place to start. Thoughts? (As for solo Gabriel, I'm a fan, but I can't lump him in with the prog crowd.) Right now, I'm digging that Yes album I mentioned earlier, Close to the Edge. This, coupled with his stint in King Crimson, is giving me a high appreciation for Bill Bruford. He didn't play an 80-piece kit, did he? It doesn't sound like it, but you can never be too sure with these prog bands. (Mainly, I hope he didn't, so I don't have to stop hating Neil Peart.) edit: Yes' borderline choral vocal harmonizing grates a little. Oh well.

Where are all the super musicians at?

Early 90s-Mercury Rev and pre-2000 Modest Mouse. I don't feel like discussing the merits of this band, but c'mon, those are obvious reference points to anyone who's heard those bands.

    The Quatermass Thread

1970, according allmusic. The British band Soft Machine's Third—which also came out in 1970—features no guitar, which I didn't realize the first time I listened to it. What I thought was the guitar turned out to be a heavily processed organ. They did have a guitarist early in their career, but after he was deported due to visa problems (he was an Aussie), they never bothered replacing him. Even though there's already a King Crimson thread, I'll mention here I picked up Larks' Tongues in Aspic the other day. I like it quite a bit, but I'm still not convinced that Wetton is much of a singer; technically, he's fine, but there's nothing very distinctive about him. Not a knock on his fabulous bass playing, though.

    The Quatermass Thread

Should anyone have reason to deny it? Listening to King Crimson lately has put me in the mood for more prog. I downloaded a Yes album yesterday! I also did a blind purchase of Soft Machine's Third, which I'd been meaning to do for awhile, anyway. I like it. I'm willing to go further with prog, but I realize this a genre in which one must tread carefully.

Where are all the super musicians at?

Making a jibe against a band I never mentioned in this thread, yet directing it at me. Making a borderline incomprehensible analogy—we're talking Special K/Bobby Peru-level here—re said band and some new mutant soda. Taking the Arcade Fire seriously all the while.

Can't take you seriously here. I'm sure you understand.

I still don't get why you brought up twee. Are you calling LCD Soundsystem "twee?" They're an electroclash (cue lovecraft321123!) act from NYC. Also, Belle and Sebastian are a good band. The Arcade Fire are not.

Their drummer isn't much of a social butterfly, either. The first time I saw them, he was working the merch table and could barely get out more than a few words at a time. He might've been high, I dunno.

Twee? What the hell are you talking about? Anyway, I got bored during LCD's Beatles rip-off and skipped straight to "Losing My Edge" from the bonus disc.

I won't take shit from an Arcade Fire fan.

I once interviewed Kyp. It went pretty well, I think. Especially when you consider I wasn't informed which guy from the band I would be interviewing, only knowing that it would be some guy from TVOTR.

I like neither Hank III nor Shooter, honestly. Now I'm listening to LCD Soundsystem. I still dig these guys, but no one will probably care when they release a second album, if ever.

Have I talked about how much I fucking love Young Liars? The stretch of "Blind"-"Young Liars"-"Mr. Grieves" is as close to perfect as music has gotten in years. The other two songs are fantastic, too.

    Who wants to fight?

Doing an image search on "coprophagia" results in an upsetting lack of porn.

I like the new TVOTR, but parts of it leave me cold. Which is a shame, because I thought the first lp was underrated and the Young Liars ep is my favorite album of the decade thus far. Still, I think they're the best band to come out within the last five years. I've seen them live twice and I hope they make their way down here again.

Shooter Jennings. I'm on my virgin excursion through Soft Machine's Third; it's some real fusiony prog that's totally fitting my mood right now. I'm thinking of starting a prog thread, but I'm not too well-versed in the genre.

I never thought I could love "Wild Horses," but then I heard the Flying Burrito Brothers' version.
