  1. My harsh star rating was more for the WDI-esque banter you guys were engaging in post-bump. Still, I made a fairly lousy post four years ago. Do you suppose Czech keeps a list of all the crappy jerk board members, going slowly over each name, chewing on it bitterly, wondering what any given person has over him?
  2. In other news, even my early-2003 posts were lame. I thought I had improved by then!
  3. Some things you shouldn't even joke about.
  4. What a pussy! Terrible fucking writer, too.
  5. I'm reading Don Quixote. It's plenty amusing, though there's the drawback of the book's many, many lengthy passages of dialog. I'm sure excising some of the novel's verbal calories would not ill-effect its plot protein, but hey, this was originally published 400 years ago, so whaddaya gonna do.
  6. Either luke-o or Matt Young gave this thread five stars.
  7. Why do I keep thinking this is a thread about the Hellacopters?
  8. Thanks, gary. I don't think any of us got what Matt Young was going for there.
  9. That makes sense. However, I imagine Hilton, overcome by hysteria and depression as she is, will find little interest in the state of her cunt.
  10. You said you could barely hear the singer. Maybe they were having sound problems. Anyway, MB's earlier stuff is more or less how you described it, which is why I can't stand them for more than 10 minutes. Their later material actually fleshes things out, but I'm still not a big fan.
  11. I've never watched more than an episode or two of Oz. Was genital grooming ever addressed in a realistic fashion? I bet dudes would trade hair trimmers in exchange for blowjobs and ass rape.
  12. She's really high-pitched and shrieky, yeah. Their shows bring out an interesting mix of people: indie-types, metal heads and the occasional crust punk.
  13. I can't imagine prisoners would be allowed sharp instruments for anything unnecessary. I suppose men get to shave their faces.
  14. Melt Banana are a fun live band, but I can only put up with their albums in ten minute increments. That they wouldn't go over well with Tool fans isn't surprising.
  15. No worries, fellas. I still hate this band.
  16. I wish I could say seeing Nirvana was some transcendent experience, but no. It was okay enough, I guess, but it was until my 20s that I began to really enjoy going to shows.
  17. Nirvana, when I was 14. In a month, I'll be seeing Morrissey at the same venue I saw them at 14 years ago.
  18. There was, a few years ago, a period where Thumbtack was one of the better people here. I only vaguely remember it. He's mostly stupid/awful.
  19. I'm considering reading either The Executioner's Song or Don Quixote, but I've read a lot of really long books in the last year or so and am thinking I need a break from 1,000 page epics.
  20. Teenage Fanclub - Grand Prix: Got this new, for cheap. Good thing, as it replaces the copy I stupidly sold years ago. Easily the best TF album. Smog - Wild Love: I like Smog. I did not have this. Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden: Replaces long-time pirated copy. Real, real good, though no Laughing Stock. Betty Davis - s/t: Those recent Sly & the Family Stone reissues put me in the mood for some more funk. This suits me fine. Wire - 154: Only in rare instances will I purchase the remaster of an album I already have. Wire, circa their first three albums, is one of my favorite bands, so this—the most sonically dense of their early material and the most in need of a digital sprucing—warrants it.
  21. There's gonna be a film version of Atonement coming out later this year; I should probably get it now so I'll have it out of the way.
