The only bigger upset I can think of in the history of ANY college sport would probably be the little D-II school in Hawaii that beat #1 Virginia at basketball back when they had Ralph Samson as center.

19-3 G-Tech over ND late in the 3rd quarter. If ND can't score against Tech, I think USC will stick it in and break it off later this year. I'm thinking 42-0 USC in that game MINIMUM the way things are looking right now.
-
ND is now down 16-0 to Tech right before the half and is getting NOTHING done on offense. Cholly Weis's rep as a genius is going to start taking some hits.
-
With a name like "Appalachian State", you'd think it would be in West Virginia and not North Carolina.
-
PS- LSU owes ESPN a favor. According to my calendar at work, LSU was scheduled to play App State today at one point. That was changed when ESPN wanted LSU-Miss State to open the year on Thursday. As a result, LSU got to smack around MSU 45-0 while UM becomes the first ranked team to lose to a I-AA team in history.
-
I'd say Notre Dame, as they're losing to Georgia Tech 6-0 right now and looking like shit on offense.
-
More Big Ten fun: Unranked Washington State is up 14-7 on Wiscy right now in the first.
-
Talk about a two-edged sword... The one game that will make everyone want to get the Big Ten network is also one that will likely have most of its subscribers slashing their wrists... unless they're Ohio State or Wiscy fans.
-
And the man being knocked on Thursday for running an "unimpressive" 45-0 victory as the coach of a Top 5 team, Les Miles, becomes the official favorite to take over Michigan next year. (Miles is a Michigan alum and it's one of the only schools he can go to without paying a buyout to LSU.)

31-26 App State, pending PAT. EDIT- 2-point CNV failed. 24 seconds left in the 3rd quarter
-
Strange score update- Duke 7, UConn 5. I'm not sure which is stranger... A score that looks like a baseball score or the fact that Duke is on top.
-
If Michigan loses, this may help the argument against *official* pre-season rankings in college from the AP and Coach's Poll.
-
31-20 App State.
-
Just sad to think he was coaching South Carolina up until about 3 years ago. I think it help explains why he had no control over his players when they got into that famous brawl with Clemson.
-
You talking about "Notre Dame Will Go Undefeated And Spank USC" Holtz?
-
Harley, I'm not going to insult your intelligence by saying that Michigan should beat App State like they were Southeastern Louisiana (a fair-poor I-AA team), but the I-A team shouldn't be down by 2 TDs near the half to them.
-
While Michigan's title hopes aren't dead, this will severely impact them no matter what since they were decisively down to a I-AA team. They'll probably drop out of the Top 10 at the least because a Top 10 I-A team should be able to handle the I-AA Champion. Usually when a I-A team loses to a I-AA team, they become a laughingstock in the media, like Colorado last year losing to Montana or Montana State.

I think the UAB Athletic Department is REALLY happy that the University Of Alabama system shit-canned their deal to bring in current Florida State OC Jimbo Fischer as coach to put an Alabama crony in as the UAB coach instead. [/sarcasm] Seriously, while UAB isn't that good, I wouldn't put full blame on the university or the athletic department as much as the fact that the University of Alabama intentionally fucked them over.
-
I know App State is a good I-AA team, but this is ridiculous. Michigan and their fans have officially lost their right to claim LSU is overrated because they beat Mississippi State 45-0 solely due to their defense picking off turnovers.
-
It was an experience thing... The second QB they put in was a true freshman who didn't have a lot of time in the system, even by freshman standards. (He missed a number of practices for some reason, so he was behind the rest of the class in some ways.)
-
The best team in the conference playing the worst team? Maybe? Possibly. It depends on how bad Ole Miss is. Miss State was certainly the worst team in the league LAST year. This is the equal of Virginia Tech opening the year against Duke or UNC.
-
There are *few* off-nights in the conference, but if you go in thinking that, it won't be one for long. (It used to be "No off nights, except Vandy", but the Mississippi schools have gone downhill severely over the past 5 years.) Of the 12 teams in the SEC, the lower echelon is definitely Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and possibly Vanderbilt. LSU, Florida, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Kentucky all went bowling last year. That's about 3-4 more bowl teams than any other league last year, with Florida and LSU coming up big in BCS games.
-
Ouch. They look to be setting a new low for the Big 12 North.
-
LSU picked up a fumbled snap for turnover #7 by MSU tonight. AFAIK, they just reached half of last year's takeaways total in tonight's game. (They didn't get a lot of takeaways last year) EDIT- And Ryan Perriloux just tossed a quick TD to Brandon LeFell to make it 45-0. At this point, MSU needs to start waving white flags to get out of this at only 45-0. (The LSU 2nd and 3rd team guys are better than a lot of MSU 1st string players.)

A bad team looks that much worse when you've got the athletes to wear them out. Their running game will probably help them out if they can keep from chucking the ball away. (1 of those 6 INTs should have been called back for an interference penalty, but most of the rest of them were due to them tossing the ball away due to pressure. He needs to learn to *down* the ball instead of throwing it into coverage against a talented and fast D)
