Wow. OSU is about to go up 21-0 and USC has NO answer for that RB.
-
Considering that they're having the RB run straight up the middle on them for most of his gains, this may say something about their noseguard / DTs and MLBs.
-
Oregon State is up 7-0 on USC in the 2nd quarter. It looks like the typical "Trojans can't show up against shitty teams" routine we see every year.

Marcus Camby, C, LA Clippers

4th and 25 for Auburn with 32 seconds left from their own 78. Even if they get this, they still need to make it to the end zone. EDIT- Complete, but short of the 1st down. LSU wins.
-
TD reception by Brandon LaFell, LSU goes up 26-21 with the PAT to come and 1:03 left. They're going for 2 because it means the difference between a 6-point lead and a 7-point lead. EDIT - Conversion failed. Auburn still needs to put up 6 to win, though.
-
As usual, LSU-Auburn is coming down to the final possession. LSU has the ball around the 50 down by 1, 21-20, with 3:14 left.

OT: The Cena-Vince commercial for Gillette is good for a laugh or two.

I think Bob Davie thinks it's still 1997, when he was coaching ND and teams like Wake were annual patsies for him.

Question: When's the last time Vandy went 4-0 to start the season? We may be about to see them pull it off this year, if they can hold onto their 6 point lead over Ole Miss deep in the 4th quarter. EDIT - The answer is apparently 1984, where they went 4-0 to start the season and finished up 5-6.

Which begs the question, how bad is Tennessee this year? Early season evaluations are a bitch but if I had to rank the SEC from 1 to 12 at the moment, I think I'd put the Vols at #11 ahead of only Arkansas. Ahead of MS State? State sucks this year... good defense, NO offense.

I'm back in. I'll sign into the group shortly.

That makes my league's day of Auburn beating Miss State by a goddamn baseball score (3-2), Kentucky barely beating Sun Belt team Middle Tennessee State (20-14), and Georgia winning a game they should have lost (14-7 over South Carolina) not look so bad in comparison.

When *OREGON STATE* is one of the only teams in the Pac Ten doing good today, you know it's a bad day. (I used to work with some Beaver fans, but GODDAMN that team has a shitty history. I think MAD used to use Oregon State vs. Northwestern as an example of a Rose Bowl that nobody could GIVE tickets away to.)

From what I saw on Monday night, Kiffin was *A* problem, but DC Rob Ryan was *THE* problem that caused the Raiders to get totally ass-raped on nation-wide TV. The next-biggest culprit would be DeAngelo Hall, who was being his usual stupid self in taking cheap shots at Eddie Royal because he couldn't stop him. (Remember when he did this shit against Steve Smith when Atlanta played Carolina and racked up 45 yards of penalties on one drive?) BTW, Kiffin DID want Rob Ryan canned this past off-season, but got overruled by Al Davis because Al wants to micro-manage his own franchise into the ground.

LSU had a fun night against North Texas, en route to a 41-3 win... Top RB Charles Scott finished the first half with 88 yards and 2 TDs on 3 rushes. (The two TD runs were 39 and 43 yards, respectively.) RB/PR/KR Trindon Holliday, the #2 finisher in the 100M Dash in the NCAA Track finals, ran one punt back 92 yards for a TD (tied for 2nd-longest in LSU history behind Eddie Kennison's 100-yard return in the early 90s) and ran another back around 60 yards. RB/KR Keiland Williams returned one kickoff back around 60 yards. North Texas' only points came as the result of a drive started deep in LSU territory due to an INT by LSU QB Andrew Hatch.

They're reviewing a play at the Oregon-Purdue game to determine if the Oregon QB fumbled the ball or had an incomplete pass while being tackled by Purdue defenders. A Purdue fumble recovery would be a third costly turnover by Oregon, as they've already given up a 60-yard INT return and muffed a kickoff return deep in their own territory that lead to a Purdue TD. EDIT - Call overturned, incomplete pass. Oregon goes for it on 4th down and comes up a yard short, turning over the ball to Purdue around the Purdue 40.

I'd have said "Big East impression" before last night's South Florida win.
-
ND 21, Mich 0 thanks to a bunch of Mich fumbles.

Purdue is making #16 Oregon look bad. Purdue were up 10-3 early, picked off an INT for around 60 yards and kicked a FG to make it 13-3, and then recovered the kickoff deep in Oregon territory. They just moved the ball down to about the 2 yard line and will likely make it 20-3 at the start of the 2nd quarter.

Troy at LSU got bumped until mid-November thanks to Hurricane Gustav.

I'm back and will be retaining the Cincy Convicts.

LSU is in the hizzy.

And it only took one day to get a whiny "A Super Bowl in a cold weather city? OH NOES" article from ESPN. Writers are never happy unless the Super Bowl is in a "destination city", like Miami or New Orleans. They bitched INCESSANTLY about Jacksonville before, during, and after the Super Bowl, IIRC, so it's not only a cold-weather thing but a "WAH!!! There's no nightlife!" thing.
