And the Raiders fans thought us Saints fans had a case of jealousy, thinking that they could get production out of Brooks that we couldn't...

Ugh... Won in a squeaker with thanks to Syracuse, Oregon, Louisville, Florida, Kentucky, and Clemson.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some of those I-AA teams attempting to move up over the next few years, if they have the proper attendance level and could secure a conference affiliation (Sun Belt most likely). Furman won the I-AA title in the last few years, IIRC. Considering how Marshall stepped up and immediately competed on the I-A level, I'd say they could move up and not be an embarassment like FIU, FAU, and Buffalo. Yeah. The past 5 national champions: Appalachain State (2005), James Madison (2004), Delaware (2003), Western Kentucky (2002), and Montana (2001). My vote for team to move up: Montana has made it to the I-AA championship 3 times in the past 6 seasons. They lost in the 2004 title game to James Madison. They've also gone 40-14 since 2002 thus averaging 10-3. Montana's only hesitation to going I-A would probably be that their traditional battle with Montana State would be a perpetual I-A vs. I-AA game on their schedule. If they go to the WAC, maybe Louisiana Tech will decide the drives aren't worth it and move to the Sun Belt, which contains ULL, ULM, Arkansas State, North Texas, and many other schools close to them. (Tech pushed hard to get into Conference USA for the 12th spot 2-3 years ago, which went to UTEP instead. The big reason behind that was that Rice, Tulsa, and SMU, the three closest schools to them in the WAC, all jumped to C-USA and left their closest WAC opponent at least 1,000 miles away from them.) OTOH, that means no away games at Hawaii, which are a perk to some athletes in various sports. (I have a family friend who plays either volleyball or softball for Tech and they mentioned that particular trip.)

Like they'd accept that delivery. AFAIK, he's one of the few pro FOOTBALL coaches in history to be in serious danger of physical harm from their players. (I didn't say coaches in general because of the Sprewell / Carlesimo incident)

WTF is this, "Shitty Officiating Day"?
-
I know LSU would lose the time they were at the line... But the time between the whistle and the clock stopping as well? That's a bit of a stretch because the play was in motion for 3-4 seconds before the clock finally stopped.
-
Forgot what exactly the penalty was... Was watching it from a loud restaurant at the time.
-
WTF? I know I'm a bit biased here, but shouldn't LSU have had closer to 10 seconds left on the clock for that final play? The play started started with roughly 10-15 seconds left on the clock but, when a DEAD BALL FALSE START was called, about 6 seconds ran off the clock. Combine that with the 2 blown pass interference calls and I'm slightly upset at the refs, but not at Auburn who played a hell of a game.
-
I doubt it. If these guys are both stopping 40 point-a-game offenses, then Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, and others have got to be nervous.
-
This makes at least 14 straight quarters where LSU has not given up a TD, going back to the win over Miami in the Peach Bowl, 41-3. It may be longer, depending on the scoring of last year's Arkansas game.
-
I think it's a scare-tactic they use against their competition... It also makes it easier for the QB to spot his own guys, because few other schools will wear uniforms that fucking ugly.
-
And Auburn's kicker, just like last year, shanks an easy FG. 0-0 with 4 minutes left in the half.
-
That and a Nebraska upset of USC would help make MY day... Those combined with an LSU win would put LSU solidly at #2.
-
HUGE defensive battle in Auburn today... LSU has held Auburn to negative yards rushing as of the start of the 2nd quarter, which is pretty damn impressive with Kenny Irons in the backfield for Auburn.
-
INTERCEPTION BY STELTZ! This LSU DB corps is living up to their billing as "a bunch of pro players killing time in college".
-
KerSACK! Glenn Dorsey waltzes through the Auburn line to sack the QB.
-
Auburn blows a great 4th down stop because one of their guys called a timeout before the start of the play that wasn't acknowledged until after the play was over. I think that Tuberville may have a stroke over that one. Explanation- Auburn called it because they had 12 guys on the field... No wonder they got the stop.

A book title is coming to me after watching that... "What's The Matter With Kansas?" That QB will be dogged for a LONG time over this... he was personally responsible for 4 INTs and a fumbled handoff, two of those turnovers coming in OT.

Bush was getting money as far back as October 2004, meaning they may have to forfeit their last few games of 2004 as well as all their games in 2005. Forfeiting any games from the 2004 season, ESPECIALLY the Orange Bowl shellacking of Oklahoma, would be cause for the BCS to vacate USC's title win.
-
The first few weeks of the season are always hard. Having shit-fests like Illinois-Syracuse as well as hard-to-pick top-tier games like Florida-Tennessee and LSU-Auburn makres for a week when no one is likely to get a really great score.
-
It's nothing new for the NCAA. Guys like John "Hot Rod" Williams make money shaving points and go to the NBA while the schools get stuck with penalties as a result.
-
If USC committed a Lack Of Institutional Control by turning a blind eye to agents in the locker room, the NCAA can say that the university deserves to be punished. As far as the actual stripping of a title, the BCS said right before the NFL draft that they''ll cross this bridge when they come to it... If the charges against USC are sustained by the NCAA investigation, they'll vote on how to handle it. Until then, they won't comment on possible fallout.
-
Technically, the NCAA can't do that. If so, then I'm sure Miami would have had to give up one by now because they spent a LOT of years in the 80s and 90s on bowl probation IIRC.
-
I'm guessing they weren't able to prove anything from the 2004 season, so USC's title appears safe. The question, though, is what kind of sanctions USC gets if they're found to have a Lack Of Institutional Control. They won't be banned from bowl games or get the Death Penalty, but a restriction on scholarships would be likely. That would cause some long-term talent issues considering their current classes are packed with top-end recruits. Losing those scholarships would weaken their depth, which has been the big strength since their resurgence under Carroll, and those players may end up at other top-end schools within the PAC-10 or other major BCS conference teams.
