Possible stipulations aside, this is going to be one fun match. Especially when Bubba's in the ring. He's good at beating up cruiserweights.
-
Um...that's not what has been talked about... What's been talked about is that if The Dudleys win, Bubba and D-Von get the Tag Titles. If Team Cruiser wins, Rey Rey gets the Cruiser title. Just FYI. So, London could pin Bubba and Rey would get the cruiser title? Precisely. Personally, I don't think any titles should be on the line. That can wait until the Smackdown PPV, where the title matches would mean something. It'd simply get overshadowed at Summerslam. Strange how this is Paul's first PPV. Nice card to make a PPV debut, don't ya think?
-
I whole heartingly disagree. I love long tag matches, like the main event from Raw last week. The danger is that a bad, long tag match can be twice as boring as a long, bad singles match because of the extended beatdown of the face in peril.
-
Meh, I don't how much I agree with this guy. The personality thing, he's right on the mark. Everybody needs a character, whether simplistic or not, and they have to be unique. Big monster guy doesn't cut it anymore. Little underdog cruiserwieght doesn't cut it. I went with a casual fan to a Smackdown house show in Febuary this year. He had no clue in hell who Matt Morgan was, and he watches often enough. On the other hand, he knew who Jamie Noble, a guy who got as much TV time, if not less than Matt Morgan, was, because of his hick personality. People like London need a to have a reason for people to care. It could be as simple as proving thier worth in WWE. That seems to be the character he has, but the audience shouldn't assume the character, they should be shown the character. The tag champs have had one small backstage promo since winning hte belts. That'd be fine and dandy if it was Kidman and someone like Noble, who are relatively known. But no one knows who London is, so why should they care? On the other hand, I disagree with the match part. Sure, fans pop for short spotfests, but ultimately, the couldn't care less about the actual wrestlers. A good 20 minute match makes people care. Of course, not everybody should have regular 20 minute matches, but to say casual fans don't care isn't correct. I'll use a houseshow example again: people ultimately cared a lot more about a Eddie/Brock match than the cruiserweight spot fest. Why? They were both enjoyable, but the Eddie/Brock match told a story the people cared about. It was a pretty long match, and the responce it got was the best of the night.
-
I believe during that match, they also asked JR if he was a "E&C mark". It was pretty funny, although no one can touch Nash in this catergory.
-
Why? Does he have a better reason now? Oh boy, he got put through a wall. Man, he must want to KILL Cena now! Even if all the Angle/Cena buildup was only to lead into a Cena/Luther feud, how come Cena's not feuding with him now? He's having a will-this-feud-ever-end thing with Booker.
-
Well that's just stupid. Angle could have just said "That Cena kid annoys me. Luther, take care of him." Instead, we get Angle screwing over Cena week in and week out, while pretty much ignoring Eddie until the PPV and Cage match.
-
Agreed. While Kurt was GM, Cena/Angle was built *way* more than Angle/Eddie. Yeah, he did screw him out of the title at JD, but seeing Angle/Cena in a skit, or Cena/Angle mentioning each other in promos or segments was much more common than with Eddie/Angle. If they were always planning on Eddie/Angle, more focus of Angle's evil GM should have gone to Eddie.

Booker T/ John Cena at SummerSlam...
CanadianChick replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm not sure if I can even watch five matches between these two. Cena's a fine face and all, and can have an entertaining match with the right people (I, for one, thought his match with RVD tonight was quite fun), but Booker T is so *boring*. And these two have interacted so much in the last 2 monthes that it seems very repetitive. Because I'm bored, I checked out just how many times these guys have been in a match with each other: June 10/04 (When Cena had to go through a gauntlet and Dupree, Booker, and RVD faced him for 5 minutes each) June 17/04 (Tag Match: RVD/Cena vs. Booker/Dupree) June 27/04 (GAB, Fatal 4 Way) July 8/04 (Singles match) July 15/04 (Handicap: Booker/Dupree/Kenzo vs. Cena) July 29/04 (8 way elimination) Now five more matches of these two? No thank you. -

If the the Booker/Cena goes five matches (is it best of five falls, or seperate matches?), I think we've seen Cena/Booker hovering 10 times since he's been on Smackdown. Since I'm almost completely unaware of ECW's history, was Spike actually a good heel? Because it's going to be strange to see lil 'ol Spike as a heel.
-
Angle wasn't involved in comedy this week though. He had a (apparent) good match with Haas. Isn't that one of the reasons Angle doesn't like Eddie? Because he has fun when he should be serious? I don't see a problem if only one is doing comedy (which makes sense, since Eddie's character is fun). I don't see a point of comedy in the main event, but it's a joke feud anyways! HA! Oh, CC made a funny! I'm done. Really, I am. Being on Velocity, I would think, is the equivilent.
-
Ah, so that's how they kept RVD off Summerslam. Fair enough. Orlando Jordan? Twice on SD in one night? Is a heel? Alright, sure. Spike as a heel? Oh man, that's just...strange. I guess he'll be like Nunzio: has a big mouth, then get the bigger guys to protect him. For the #1 contender tag team match, was it for a shot at Summerslam, or next week?
-
Maybe they'll change it to a three way, since RVD was the last one eliminated, not Cena. Yeah, I know that Raw already has a three way for thier secondary belt, but at WM XX, there were two 4 way elimination tag matches, so I wouldn't rule it out.
-
Didn't see all the main event (dinner rules!), but the finish was pretty cool. I thought that Benoit looked pretty damn good taking on three guys when Jericho just tagged out and Edge was on the ground. The finish was a bit predictable, but still good, nevertheless. And now I know how the RKO was suppose to look like that one time against Jericho! Oh, I kid. Winner gets to marry Lita? How Russorific. Although really, they're just recycling the whole "Winner gets Stacy" concept, but raising the stakes. My lord, does anyone get any worse angles than Kane? Damn. That was an awesome beatdown. Regal was just puddling blood. I love a good 'ol beatdown. I guess now this way, it's not just Triple H wanting revenge, but also the other way around. Yes! Edge is turning heel! Hell yeah! If he does though, that whole "Edge is going to take down Evolution" is forgotten. I'm willing to sacrifice that angle for a heel Edge though.

That was the POINT~!~! -
I'd be shocked if either was remembered. The Jericho choke artist angle with the Rock and the Edge comment about "Billy Gunning" the KOTR were both in 2001. Although it would make sense for Edge to mention it, since he lost to someone Edge has recently beat twice.... If this turns Edge heel, consider this gal a happy camper.

I'm going to cry in a corner because I didn't win...LIVE~!~! Okay, maybe not, but I'll get in something. -
Ric Flair is excused from house shows to continue promotion on his book (this weekend, he's overseas, I believe.) ...and hasn't Matt decided on getting the MCL surgery yet? I don't recall him being in the battle royal last Monday. He actually was in the battle royal last week. When he got eliminated, he came back in and brawled with Kane.

Eh, maybe. But a Jamie won the title in WWE before, so why not a Shannon. And JBL is giving off a serious Waylon Mercy vibe if you ask me. Jamie can be a name of a boy or girl, though. Shannon is a girl's name through and through. -
