    WWE Smackdown (5/9/2008)

Little kid on Vicki stripping Taker of the title for using the THAT CHOKEHOLD: (Paraphrased) "Yes, Vicki was correct because it can cause internal bleeding and lung damage for a month..." Awesome.

    LOST

Richard is the member of the Others who's been on the island longer than Ben. He sort of "recruited" Ben as a child when he ran into him in the jungle when Ben was chasing the ghost of his mom. He also recruited Juliette to come to the island as part of Mittelos (or whatever), the lab/science company. Last season, when Ben told Locke he had to kill his father, Richard is the one who gave Locke the idea to bring Sawyer in to do the job, telling Locke that "some of us (Others) want a change," apparently hinting at getting rid of Ben as their leader. Abaddon appeared in the first episode this season questioning Hurley if the remaining survivors were still alive on the island. I think he had at least one more appearance before last night's episode, too, but I'm drawing a blank.

    Grand Theft Auto IV

Wow, the exact same thing happened to me. Except, when it was getting to be a few minutes (in real time) until the meeting and having no direction from the game, I realized I might need to take off the glasses. It seemed you can only change wardrobe in your safehouse, so I took a taxi all the way back home, only to find out... my glasses were already off? Yeah, it made no sense to me. I just barely made it back with another taxi.

I thought it was a good confusing, though. We definitely know that the island wanted to bring certain people to the island. Richard wanted Locke from the start, and Abaddon is the one to suggest the Walkabout. It seems as though Claire might have a special role as well, based on her presence in the cabin, at least. When she tried to give her baby away in Australia, "the island" apparently made it impossible for her to sign the papers and later put her on the flight to LA. That said, it seems that the crash was certainly no accident, but it was Desmond who brought the plane to the island. The reason Desmond first stopped pushing the button was that he suspected Kelvin of lying to him and planning to leave. Maybe Kelvin's actions were inspired by Jacob, with the end result being to bring Locke, Claire, and other key players to the island? I don't know... Very confusing, and as usual, we have fifty million more questions with the few "answers" we got tonight.

Same reason Dr. Cox was randomly bald one episode last season, regained his hair the next, and shaved his head a few later?

I dragged some guy whose car I stole about a block until I finally swerved him off.

    Grand Theft Auto IV

While just fooling around, and not planning on saving, I went to the gun shop in Chinatown, bought what I needed, and proceeded to shoot the guy who runs it. Besides getting a wanted level, some of the guy's friends immediately came in and killed me. If that wasn't bad enough, I returned right after dying, and I seem to be banned since I was met with immediate gunshots.

    Grand Theft Auto IV

Yeah I just did that mission last night. I find it funny that you're supposed to stand around for an extra second and decide whether to let the girl live or die, and THEN chase the guy. I found it easiest to not go the same route as the guy on the bike. I was able to nearly cut him off later. Anytime I got as close as I could (usually about 4 car lengths), I just started shooting him as best as I could from my bike. If you're lucky, he'll get hit and fall off his bike.

Does anyone know at what progress you finish the storyline? I'm just over 30%, but I think previous games' stories finished around 45-50%, and the remaining was all the extra stuff like hidden packages and whatnot. Just did my favorite mission so far. The bank one... According to the game stats, my addiction level is "That's some good shit". Indeed.

    Grand Theft Auto IV

Well, I guess it wouldn't be a GTA game without the annoying street races. Finally beat my first one after a few tries. I will say that at least the races are much more lenient in regards to hitting the checkpoints. It seems like as long as you're on the street, you hit the checkpoints. I am at the point where I'm used to the driving, too. I hardly ever use the regular break. It's usually just all hand break.

I didn't really care for this week's episode, but then again, it's coming off of last week's episode. Outside of seeing the beginning of Jack's addiction and his father's reappearance, this week had nothing. Regarding next weeks preview...

    Grand Theft Auto IV

I've just been fooling around so far, not doing any missions outside of the opening drive. I love the animations of getting hit by cars. It looks as real as possible, as opposed to the occasional scene from the previous games of flying a couple yards and landing on your feet. Getting vaulted through your windshield after a crash is insane. At one point, I saw the big part of the city across the water, so I decided to swim over. Just as I approached the land, I got six stars. I didn't even make it out of the water, and I was gunned down. Looks like it'll be pretty hard to get into the forbidden parts of town this time around. So far, I'm loving this game.

I got over at my Babbages around 11:40 and was out by 12:25. There were still a lot of people behind me. Overall, it was probably about 250 people there. It's being installed onto my PS3 right now. Only a few more minutes...
  15. In the spirit of getting some DISCUSSION~! back in the WWE folder... I just realized that the last time HBK held a World Title was 2002, and even that was hardly of any significance since he held it less than a month before losing it back to HHH. Outside of his defense against RVD on Raw, I don't recall anything of note happening in that month. It's been more than 5 years now. Would anyone else actually like to see HBK as a World Champion? I can't remember for sure, but I think I remember reading that one of the big reasons for the company not really getting behind him was that he doesn't work the full schedule with all the house shows. I'm sure someone else can clarify that, but in regards to the topic, just forget about this. Would there really be any backlash if they let HBK get a decent title reign anytime soon? Looking at the two rosters (ECW doesn't count because it's ECW), Raw's main event scene has Orton, Cena, and HHH with Jericho, Kennedy, Umaga, and JBL to mix in and out, and Smackdown has Edge, Taker, Big Show, and Batista with Kane, Finlay, Khali, and the ECW guys on the sides. Considering Kennedy and Umaga aren't exactly World Title material at the moment, and Jericho will apparently be at the top of the mid-card for the time being, I can't say I'd want HBK to stay on Raw for a title reign. I'd welcome matches against Cena, JBL, or Jericho, but he needs to stay far away from HHH. Smackdown, on the other hand, opens up some fresh matches with Taker, Batista, and Show. I know I'm not the only one, but I'm dying to get a real Taker-HBK match again. It's wishful thinking, but maybe after the Taker-Edge feud, assuming it continues after WM, HBK can be brought to Smackdown to get something interesting going. It's not like he has much left to do on Raw once Flair is gone. What are everyone else's thoughts? It's not like WWE has a huge amount of younger talent that are ready to take over the main event scene anyway.

Locke obviously has no idea where to find the cabin, and neither does Hurley really as he only ran into it by chance. I look at it like Ben knows where to look for the cabin, but he knows that the fact that Hurley saw the cabin means that Jacob reached out to Hurley. That goes back to what Ben said in season 3: You don't go see Jacob, he summons you... or however it went.

    WWE Backlash 2008

The presence of two referees gives me the feeling that the finish will be the lame double pin spot, with Orton retaining by draw. Controversy!
  18. Regarding the original post, I appreciate all the different ways of saying "I thought the main event would be..." I remember reading after WM 19 that they were already planning for a Brock vs. HHH match for WM 21. Obviously it was never able to be done. I don't remember much, but one sure match I thought they would end up doing was Austin vs. HHH for WM 18.

The Babbages over here is doing a midnight launch, so I'll probably pick it up then. By luck, I actually have Tuesday off, so I'll have all day to sit around and play it. I didn't want to read the entire IGN review since I want to do my own exploring and be surprised by all the cool, little features. That and it's really long... But yeah, can't wait for this game.

Now that we know Ben has some control over the smoke monster, it's interesting to look back on all its earlier appearances. We'll have to wait for the talk with Jacob to get the details about the extent of Ben's control, I suppose, but you have to wonder what Ben's agenda has been this entire time based on our new info.

When Faraday requested the rocket to be launched to his location on the island from the freighter, it took much longer than it should of. The freighter said the rocket should have arrived much earlier than it actually did. If that means that time travels much quicker off the island, than Ben probably just wanted to confirm the year. Assuming the first thing Ben did in Tunisia was to check in to the hotel, that was probably his first opportunity to check the date. After all, right before Tunisia, he was wounded in the middle of the Sahara.

Wow, GREAT episode. All this season, I was waiting for Lostzilla to finally show up. Preview for next week talk: Hopefully we finally get some answers on Lostzilla when they reach Jacob's cabin. Knowing this show, that won't happen for another two episodes, however.
