My top 5: 1. 2004 2. 1992 3. 2005 4. 1990 5. 2001 I'm partial to 2004 since, besides being great, I got to see it live. The finish was great, and there was a good field of guys at the end: Benoit, Show, Angle, Jericho, RVD, & Cena. 1992 is my second choice, but the ending always just irritated me due to Hogan's hypocracy, not that it's not commonplace, of course (1989 says hello). 2001 I just watched the other day, and it's a lot of fun. Kane was an unexpected iron man at the time, and all the surprise entrants were great. The only bad portion is the slow middle from Bradshaw's entry till Big Show comes in. The ending period with Austin, Kane, and Rock is one of my favorites. Sure, we all knew Kane didn't have a chance, but it was still a cool sight to see Austin have to bring in a chair and hammer Kane a few times to get the job done. I have to watch 1990 soon.

At one point in the other thread I was going to point out that double duty hasn't happened since 2000 - and even then, it was part of an angle where the day of the show Kaientai and the Posse got kicked out of the Rumble to make way for Jericho, Holly, Chyna, The Outlaws, and APA (that doesn't add up but that's how it was promoted). The exception was going to be 2003, where Show/Lesnar had a match to open the show where the winner got to be in the Rumble, so that wouldn't count, but then I watched the 2005 Rumble and for no real reason Shawn and Edge got to do double duty, so I guess it's happened more recent than I thought. Angle also stole Nunzio's number but that obviously doesn't count as advertised double duty. The "rule" (which never matters since wrestling has a very loose rule continuity) that was specifically mentioned in 2004 was if you had a match on the card, you couldn't be in the Rumble (Kurt had sort of tricked Eddie into having a match with Chavo on the show, thus removing him from the Rumble). Leading up to the 2000 Rumble, they had the match graphic with everyone pictured. Besides the Posse & Kaientai, Mark Henry and, I think, Mideon didn't end up in the match. So that would work that out. About the double-duty rule, don't forget about the randomness of last year: With MNM vs. Hardys on the undercard, everyone but Mercury ended up in the Rumble match. I'll wait until all 30 are announced before I do the contest. Sure, Santino will probably last the shortest time, but who knows if they actually add Shannon Moore or someone worse...

I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually the colors as it was just an Alliance shirt: WCW or ECW. Wasn't Tazz just wearing one of his own shirts?

It's happened before that a guy wrestles a match and is in the Rumble. I mean...well, if he wrestles right before the match itself I don't think he'll be in, I agree, but if Flair/MVP is one of the first few matches I don't see how either man couldn't be rested enough to go out there 3 hours later midway through the match. It's happen a lot actually. It's no big deal if the wrestlers involved in a tag match don't participate in the Rumble, but when high mid-carders like Jericho and MVP don't participate, it really annoys me. Of course it gives the Rumble match more star power, but from a logic stand point, why wouldn't someone not want to enter? Especially in Jericho's case since he was screwed out of the title the previous month.

There's a poll in the ECW section of WWE.com asking whether you would like to see CM Punk in the Rumble match. Considering his feud with Chavo is already overdone (they're having another match this upcoming Tuesday, for anyone who wasn't aware), and Shelton (his other logical challenger) seems to be set to enter the Rumble as well, I think they'll probably just end up throwing him in. Besides, the undercard for the Rumble is already stacked with four big matches.

I never noticed it at the time, but Bret's promo at the beginning of the 5/12 Raw is the exact same promo he does at KOTR the next month ("I trust these men to pump my heart with their blood..." etc).

So, HHH is obviously teaming with Hornswaggle.

Terribly inaccurate wrestling predictions you made

As soon as John Cena turned rapper in late 2002, I didn't think he was going to amount to anything with such a lame gimmick, especially with Bull Buchanan. -

Taken from 411, from PWInsider: I assume Miz & Morrison will still qualify on TV, and Yang fits in a little, but Shannon Moore in the Rumble? It's just weird. -
Super Mario World, in the special world... Tubular. It's the level where you use the P-balloon to go across just about the entire level with those football players throwing baseballs and the plants shooting at you. It's more frustrating than difficult really.
-
Its going to be a 15 minute tag team ironman match from the sounds of it (most pinfalls in 15 minutes wins) thats lame, though I dont recall off the top of my head any tag team iron man matches.. I remember an MNM vs. Holly & Haas 15-minute match from spring 2005. Was that the same thing, most falls in 15?

No kidding. KANE of all people was the first person I recall seeing figure this strategy out at Survivor Series 98. Goldust did it in 1997 when he casually punched Jesse James in the face during a match with dress-wearing Pillman. Edit: Come to think of it, it was actually an elbow drop.
-
Definitely. I'd also love to see a ton of Edge & Christian skits, but they'll probably leave that goofy stuff off.

After just watching it, HBK vs. Owen from Nov. 1995 on the Raw DVD is clipped. It shows the first 4 minutes or so before clipping to the last 3 minutes or so. The EMTs checking on him is shown for several minutes is shown.
-
It's in full TV form, with the only clip being the commercial break.
-
I thought it didn't come out until the 26th? I guess I'll have to make a trip out tonight. From what you've seen, is there anything that was just clips that should have been shown in full? Or is the set definitely worth the money..? I work at a Suncoast, and it was supposed to be the 26th, but all stuff scheduled for Wednesday 12/26 was moved up to Friday, 12/21. I don't know how it worked everywhere else, though. I haven't had much spare time, so I haven't watched anything beyond what I mentioned above. One thing I forgot to mention is that in the matches and segments, there are little pop-ups with trivia and whatnot. Not too many to be annoying or anything.
-
It's just clips. Heenan attempting to sneak in, shots of the matches, and interview clips with Heenan, Sean Mooney, Edge, HBK, Trish, Cena, and Vince. The whole segment lasts about 3 minutes or so.
-
I picked up the Raw set tonight. I've only watched about an hour of the first disk, but so far it's pretty good. Flair-Perfect seems like it gets clipped within the first minute or so, but judging by Vince's "And we're back..." on commentary immediately after the clip, I assume it was just a commercial break that went unmentioned by the commentators. (Commercial breaks during HBK-Jannetty and Bret-Kid are both warned beforehand with the TV graphic). On a random note, I think this is the first 3-disc WWE set to have the three individual slim DVD cases inside as opposed to the usual fold open case like the Flair or Bret set.
-
I had the last SNME with Bret-Shango, HBK-Bulldog, & Money Inc-Warrior/Savage on tape, but I have no idea what happened to it. I probably taped over it for something really stupid.
-
Steve Blackman and Pete Gas... I'm satisfied with the show.
-
"The Rocket" Owen Hart
-
Possibly a stupid question: In edit mode, is there a way to rotate the the wrestler around so you can get better views of the sides and back?
-
Man, some of you guys take the topic too seriously. Maybe the the topic should just be renamed as 'Three tapes/DVDs I like the most'.

So I was thinking about possibly picking up a PS3 soon. Am I correct in saying that every model except for the 40G has the backwards compatibility?
