The OAO Raw Hot Sell for WM 23 (March 26th)
Aero replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
WM 21 had eight matches- two of them being Trish/Hemme and Big Show/Akebono. -
They didn't even wish him good luck in his future endeavors... just an immediate release.

I'll agree that Deadly Game was an awesome theme, but it would have helped if the WWF actually used the version with lyrics. The only lyrics heard at the time in 1998 were the continuous shouting of "Deadly Game!"

I was just reading a WM 13 roundtable review at 411, and it's mentioned that before the Owen & Bulldog vs. Vader & Mankind match was set, they originally wanted Mankind vs. Mero, but Foley refused. Now, obviously Mero ended up injuring his knee prior to the show, but is there any truth to Foley refusing to work with Mero, and why?

I'd say tweener for just about the first 3/4 or so, but as soon as he decided to send Lem to the same jail as Antwon to likely be killed, he was officially heel.

Didn't they already do this?

My rankings... Season 5 Granted, I should probably watch the entire season again once the DVD comes out later in the month, but having watched a portion of the episodes when FX replayed them last fall, I think this will probably stand as my favorite. What I loved about this season was that it felt like each and every episode was really important, whereas some of the seasons had a little more filler in between the big storyline. The last couple episodes where insane. This is the season that first hooked me into the show and made me go out and buy all the other seasons on DVD. Season 3 Fallout of the money train, Tavon vs. Shane, Strike Team vs. Margos & the Armenian mob, Aceveda's rape, Lem stealing/burning the money, etc. Just like season 5, the last couple episodes got insane. In this case, you finally had the Strike Team going after the Armenians while dealing with the tension in the team due to the money. Season 2 Armadillo's entire story arc is awesome, especially when Vic ends up burning his face off in only the second episode. I'd put him at the top of the list of best villians. My only disappointment would be how they handled his death, as I think Vic should've had more to do with it, but it was still interesting nonetheless. The money train heist in the finale is awesome stuff. Season 1 This might be interchangeable with 4, but I think I remember liking this more, even though this really lacked a central storyline like the other seasons. Season 4 I think Curry basically covered everything above. It started out slow, but it really built up into some intense TV by the end. Just because I rank it last doesn't mean it's bad by any means. It's still awesome. I like how they freshened things up by having Vic actually get along with Rawlings as opposed to being against the captain. Antwon rules it. Yeah, I can't wait for season 6.

I voted Wrestlerock 86 if only because it's the only one I've never seen. But even though the main events suck, I always liked that Superbrawl. The opening TV Title series with Booker T, Saturn, and Martel is good, and then you have DDP-Benoit and Jericho-Juvi, two awesome matches. I think Backlash 03 is winning, though, just because it's more recent.

It wouldn't hurt, but she could also just be in Too Cool's corner.

Wrestlemania 2000 - WWF Title: Triple H vs. The Rock - IC Title: Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit - Tag Titles: Ladder Match: Dudleys vs. Hardys vs. Edge & Christian - Submission Match: Kurt Angle vs. Tazz - Eddie Guerrero & Dean Malenko vs. Too Cool - Kane & Rikishi vs. X-Pac & Road Dogg - Hardcore Title: Crash vs. Hardcore Holly - 20-Man Battle Royal: Big Show wins WWF Title match This is pretty self-explanatory. A lot of people would have preferred a singles main event rather than the four-way that was overshadowed by the McMahons. Rock gets the title here instead of Backlash, and they can have the rematch the next month with Austin inserted like he actually was. IC Title: Jericho vs. Benoit With this scenario, Angle never won the title at No Way Out, and he just furthered his feud with Tazz (more on that below). With only eight matches on the card, this should have no problem getting around 20 minutes, and Benoit goes over clean to solidify him as a serious threat. Tag Title Ladder Match Absolutely nothing to change. Submission Match: Tazz vs. Angle I didn't like how they handled this feud after the Rumble. IIRC, they had a couple confrontations and matches on TV, but not much was settled. Have Tazz continue to get the better of Angle through February, and then keep Angle off TV for a couple weeks. When he returns, he shows a vicious side for the first time ever (he was still really goofy at this point) by attacking and choking Tazz out. This is the blow off match that should officially put Tazz over. X-Pac & Road Dogg vs. Kane & Rikishi Kane and X-Pac needed to finish their feud, and they already did No DQ at NWO the previous month. This match was pretty inoffensive, and it served its purpose to get Rikishi and Road Dogg on the card. It would be kept just as short as it was at the actual show: around 5-6 minutes. Eddie Guerrero & Dean Malenko vs. Too Cool Just a hot opener to get the crowd going. Too Cool was insanely over still, and I'm sure this could have been a good match with at least 10 minutes. Either team could go over: Radicalz for the purpose of getting a win under their belt, or Too Cool to get the crowd going. Hardcore Title: Crash vs. Hardcore The battle royal at the real show was sort of entertaining, but it made very little sense since 90% of the guys were fighting everyone but the champ. Typical hardcore stuff here, but Crash wins because he's more popular. Not to mention he did just get the title back the next night in real life anyway. 20-Man Battle Royal Yeah, it's a match that just throws all the remaining guys into one match for no real purpose. Big Show gets the obvious win, because the only other credible guys are Saturn (still not completely buried, mind you), APA, Godfather, D'Lo, Test, Albert, Boss Man, Buchanan, Al Snow, Blackman, and more.

It's just a really mediocre show that doesn't feel like a WM. Nothing's really awful, but nothing's amazing either. The only standout match is HBK vs. Diesel.

Greatest WWF Matches of the 90's Tourney

Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart, 3/23/97, WrestleMania 13, "I Quit" match -
I think Flair was involved in a six-man tag match vs. the nWo at Spring Stampede 97, too.
-
That's actually not that bad of DVD, but they really need to hit the SD stuff from the fall: Eddie vs. Edge (No DQ), Angle vs. Benoit vs. Rey, Edge & Rey vs. Benoit & Angle (2/3 Falls), etc. I'd buy a Raw DVD with a bunch of the stuff ranging from Benoit's 2004 debut and the summer. There were several really good multi-man tags and Benoit vs. HBK among others.

Here's the 15-minute prequel to Season 6 that will be an extra on the Season 5 DVD. It's a BudTV exclusive (until it gets to Youtube), so you just need to sign up. It basically covers Lem's funeral plus a flashback. http://www.bud.tv/

I seriously think that I predicted every match wrong so far. Does that mean Kennedy's winning? Because I picked Lashley. Edit: Guess so...

The Austin/McMahon hostage thing was the night after Judgment Day 98, which was 10/19/98. Bischoff debuted on the Raw before Vengeance 02, which would be 7/15/02. I assume the beer bath thing is Austin in the beer truck against Rock and the McMahons. That was on the Raw before WM XV, 3/22/99.
