"The One" Billy Gunn Mr. Ass

Sharmell: You're a better king than Martin Luther King! Book: WHAAAAAAATTTTT! I originally picked Lashley to win, but after thinking about it, it would've looked really silly for Lashley to be wearing the crown and robe, even for a minute.

I'd say this was easily the second best WWE PPV of the year, right behind WM. The opener was great, with a hot crowd. Benoit-Finlay was MOTN, with an unheard of 20+ minutes (actually the longest match all night). The crowd didn't seem too bored despite alot of mat work. It probably ranks either second or third for MOTY up to this point with only Angle-Taker NWO ahead and Edge-Foley up against it. Lame ending aside, Angle's beatdown of Henry was awesome. Angle's head did look like it was going to explode post-beatdown, though. Taker-Khali was just bad. Taker jobbed clean to a boot and a chop if I'm not mistaking. A BOOT and a CHOP. Not to mention Khali stalled for about 5 seconds, and then covered with one foot. JBL-Rey was okay, about on the same levels as their other matches. I assume it's officially RVD vs. Cena at ONS, then, unless JBL gets a TV rematch.

Just off the top of my head, here's some that I really liked... Pulp Fiction Die Hard Superman Returns (I love the second half when the theme starts)

Actually, it was May 23.

Robocop saves Sting from the Horsemen You have to love JR's shilling of Robocop.

The Worst Wrestling Show of All-Time

I wouldn't call it the worst of all-time, but I've always hated Rock Bottom: IYH with a passion. Save for Blackman-Owen, which still had a lame countout finish, there wasn't anything decent. The Tag Title match between the Outlaws & Boss Man/Shamrock was insanely boring, and the Taker/Austin buried alive match has to be one of the worst WWF PPV main events ever. -
JR didn't go into detail, but he did mention that they were "brothers".
-
I liked the Foley-Funk promo, but Funk seemed a little mixed up with his words here and there. Right in the beginning, he says something like this... "Mick, I know the reason why you humiliated Tommy Dreamer. I know. And tonight, I wanna know why... you humiliated Tommy Dreamer."
-
Right now, I'm planning on ordering. Benoit-Finlay and the Tag Title match should be good. JBL-Rey, based on their previous matches, could be decent, as could the Cruiser match given time. They've given the Tag Title feud a segment on each show since WM, so I'm really hoping that means the match will get more than 10 minutes.

Why would Lashley be Booker T's protege when it's already been proven that he can kick half the Smackdown roster's asses? Lashley is already over pretty well, so doing a heel turn would be really dumb.

The Worst Wrestling Show of All-Time

GAB 2004 is definitely a bad show, but I usually give it some leeway for having two great matches in Rey-Chavo and Eddie-JBL (I can't be the only one who loves it). -
Thank God they're making Coach a manager. He's perfect, especially for Benjamin who obviously isn't the greatest guy on the mic. Does this mean that Mama Benjamin is officially done?

KOTR 95 If there's ever a night where I can't get to sleep, I just pop in this tape, and I'll be out by the second match. It's that boring. The main event is bad enough as Sid & Tatanka vs. Diesel & Bigelow, but the fact that they jip you out of a meaningful finish is absurd. Yeah, so Tatanka got pinned, but if there actually was anyone who wanted to see this match, they wanted to see Sid & Diesel, which I may be wrong, but I can't remember them having much contact in the match. Then there's the worst tournament ever: HBK (who should've won), Undertaker, Yokozuna, and Razor Ramon (due to injury) all eliminated in the first round. With the past two tournaments featuring possible winners like Bret, Owen, Bigelow, Perfect, and Razor after the opening round matches, I can only imagine the confusion when the Semi-Final round featured Mabel, Savio Vega, and jobber Roadie. The best match of the night is between Savio and Roadie, BTW. I think it's safe to call this the worst WWF show ever. KOTR 99 Hot off the heels of red-hot Greater Power angle comes KOTR 99. I'd call this tournament one of the worst, but at least everyone in the tournament was in the upper mid-card. MOTN honors go to the Austin-McMahons ladder match, which would probably end up around **, if you want a star rating. We're still not sure who moved the briefcase, but we can probably assume it was the Big Boss Man. This is also deep inside the Russo era, where a lot of matches last under 5 minutes, so you have at least three tournament matches around that time. Big Show & Kane have a slow match that results in a two minute chokehold to finish. Road Dogg & Chyna have a really boring match that is made up of clever spots such as Chyna applying a sleeper... but Road Dogg reverses into a sleeper of his own! Billy Gunn & Kane have a horrible Semi-Final match. The winner of the tournament: King Ass. The Rock & Undertaker almost never have any good singles matches, and this was no exception. The only thing this show has going for it is that Steve Blackman almost makes it into the main event. KOTR 2000 There are a lot of bad KOTR shows. You had Angle, Jericho, Benoit, & Eddie in a tournament, and all but one are eliminated in the first round. The tournament needed to be rearranged, anyway. Everyone knew that either Angle or Jericho was winning, so instead of the finals, it was put in the first round. To be fair, Angle-Jericho and Eddie-Val are both good matches, but those are the only ones. This whole show felt like an extended Raw or Smackdown. Every match in the tournament except the latter two were under or near five minutes. The main event of the show was a six-man tag team match that saw the Rock regain the title by pinning Vince McMahon rather than HHH. The Dudleys had been feuding with DX for nearly two months, trying to put Tori through the table. DX won the table match at Judgment Day.. and they win again at KOTR? At least the Dudleys still got to put Tori through the table. Then there's the Patterson-Brisco evening gown match. Really, besides Angle-Jericho in the first round, the only other match that was even remotely PPV quality was DX vs. the Dudleys. This ruined the string of good PPVs the WWF was having at the time, also. And yet people still say they want KOTR back on PPV... -
Id like to see someone jump off a ladder onto a trampoline and do a flying chairshot. That would be Shelton. Do any of the SS besides Kenny have an actual finisher? The High Spirits doesn't count since it involves all 5 of them. Johnny has the Johnny-Go-Round. Otherwise no. Apparently Nicky or Mickey, whoever it was, will be using the Swanton Bomb since that seemed to be his big highspot last night. But JR called it a moonsault!
-
Graphically, it looks pretty awesome, although the wrestlers definitely look too much like claymation. Angle's face isn't as good as it was the past few games. To nitpick even further, the Raw entrance isn't updated, and Angle has the same outfit as the last game... I want the black singlet and short black boots, damnit!

I'm sure most of us knew about the No Mercy hacks. I've used a few here and there, but when I used a code that alters the arena and ring, it usually results in too many glitches. The best one I remember using was the UFC octogon code.
-
The only singles matches that come to mind are his series with Benoit around No Mercy 03 and the match with Kane from 2001. Kane-A-Train was decent for a Kane-A-Train match, but it's been way overrated since then, mainly due to the hurricanrana by Kane. I think that was actually discussed in another thread within the past month or so. Now, in tag matches, T&A & Trish vs. the Hardys & Lita from Fully Loaded 2000 was an awesome opener.
-
So, did anyone else watch? Rey jobbing to Mark Henry cleanly was laughable, but Benoit-Finlay was a pretty good 15-minute match. I don't even mind the MNM-Londrick no contest, because they can just keep building to the match that should be on PPV, anyway.

Four Square ruled. I used to play it with the other kids in the neighborhood way back and occasionally at school. Last year, my senior year in high school, in gym class, we had one of those 'units' where you get to choose what activity you wanted. A bunch of us started Four Square and it eventually just turned into a huge game, with everyone REALLY getting into it, playing hardcore. But you played with a tennis ball? I always played with a kick ball. We usually had the captain square, where the person inside gets to make the rules. Powerbombs were always good moves, but we didn't do the crazy stuff like that in high school.

Yeah, I thought of that, but jealousy seems fit for the heel, not the face. Haas doesn't look very bitter based on the past few weeks.
-
I'm all for the Haas-Benjamin program, but when are we going to find out why Haas hates Benjamin? What made him randomly decide to interfere in last night's match? If it were up to me, I would have brought Haas in as a tweener, tagging with Benjamin for a few weeks. Let's say the week before Backlash, Haas & Benjamin fought RVD & someone else in a tag match. Doesn't matter who won, but post-match, Shelton snaps and beats down RVD with a chair, with Haas looking on. He's ready to finish him off with something severe, like a Pillmanizer, but Haas interferes and stops it, showing compassion. Shelton, after first being pissed, "calms down" and then attacks Haas with the chair when his guard down. And there's your feud, that doesn't even need the IC title to have purpose.
-
I always thought it was pretty obvious. I always heard, "I've had enough.. with the nWo... the fight is on!"
-
An awesome moment, but I like even better when they leave that area and head to the mines afterwards to rescue all the kids. Jones enters the mine, and the camera just moves from his legs up, and then, without even showing the beating, the guard goes flying from Jones.

How was the match?
