I would have definitely preferred Vegas, as well. Think of all the cool stuff... Vegas strip and lighting, gambling and casinos. Screw the beaches, I want the desert.
-
I don't remember the match qualities for many of them, but I do remember at least one or two of them being on Saturday Night.
-
With Backlash being in Edmonton, I'm scared they might save Benoit's win for his hometown, [sarcasm] which would be much better than winning at the biggest show of all time. [/sarcasm] I have a good feeling they'll give Benoit the win, though. But then again, I was almost sure that both Jericho & Booker T would win last year at WM, and look what happened...
-
I hope you're talking about just HBK & Taker, because Badd Blood was horrible except for HIAC and a fairly decent flag match. I like Ground Zero much more as a whole just for HBK vs. Taker, Bret vs. Patriot, and the tag title match (Yes, it wasn't very good, but I marked out when the Headbangers won).

I liked the Easter bunny one from Vengeance 2003.

Actually, they made a comeback in the summer/fall of 1998. Fully Loaded and Breakdown I remember were loaded with pointless matches like Bradshaw & Terry Funk vs. Faarooq & Scorpio, Venis vs. Jarrett, Gangrel vs. D'Lo, Too Much vs. Al Snow & Scorpio, Droz vs. Marc Mero, Edge vs. Owen Hart, and more at the next few PPVs, too. And yes, I remember all those.

Agreed, I think there should be a battle royal at least on Heat. Personally, though, I'd rather see Lance Storm on the card than Matt Hardy. I've been digging Storm & Venis tag matches, so I wouldn't mind watching them face La Resistance on Heat or something. But if they just threw that match on the WM card, then that would be pretty old school.

The only interpromotional tag match I'd settle for would be TWGTT vs. either Booker & RVD or Dudleys. I think either of those could be a great match.

WrestleMania Top 10 Matches Special Announced
Aero replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in The WWE Folder
In the new Raw magazine with Foley on the cover, they have an article on the Top 10 WM matches. I just looked at it in the store, and I don't believe they were actually ranked with numbers. Here's what I remember... Bret Hart vs. Austin (WM 13) Austin vs. Michaels (WM XIV) Hogan vs. The Rock (WM X8) Austin vs. The Rock (WM X7) HHH vs. Undertaker (WM X7) Benoit vs. Angle (WM X7) Steamboat vs. Savage (WM III) HBK vs. Razor Ramon (WM X) And I think the remaining two were along the lines of Hogan vs. Andre (WM III), TLC 2 (WM X7) and Bret vs. Owen (WM X) -
Yes it was...and so was the Oddities/Kaientai match at Summerslam 98. I disagree. While it was by no means a great match, it wasn't very offensive like some of the matches already listed.
-
I haven't seen it in a long time, but I remember the Triple Threat Tag Title match from Survivor Series 1998 being horrible.
-
Mario 3, with the entire Mega Man series close behind.

Once I saw him at the mall, and I was like, "It's Joe Pesci!" Good times...

I'm sure it's probably been done before, but what's your favorite PPV? It doesn't need to have a number of great, technical matches. My favorite is Summerslam 1998. Great matches all throughout, with the MSG atmosphere. Great moments like Jarrett getting his hair cut, Lion's Den match, Ladder match, and I was loving the "Highway to Hell" Austin-Taker story at the time. Honorable mentions for me would be Wrestlemania X7, Summerslam 1997, Canadian Stampede, and Survivor Series 1996

Everyone's pretty much covered the worst matches, but what about Undertaker vs. Austin, Buried Alive, from Rock Bottom and the Hogan & Savage vs. Dungeon of Doom in that Doomsday Cage (was that it?) from Uncensored 1996? On a side note, I just watched Taker vs. Giant Gonzalez from WM IX yesterday (along with the rest of the PPV), and I did find SOMETHING interesting. Right in the beginning of the match, it looks like in the first row in the stands some old guy is having heated words with another guy around him. He's getting up pointing, and it looks like his family is holding him back. If anyone cares to check it out, it's on the main camera view, and he's wearing a white hat, black bow tie, and glasses, it looks like.

Angle's No Mercy "interview" with Rock is classic. Rock starts moving his head back & forth Angle: Calm down mister! I'll stop this interview RIGHT NOW! Rock calms down and stays still without a word... in a different shirt nonetheless. Angle: That's better. There was a ton of other great stuff, too, that I can't think of right now.

Except for when Cena beat Show cleanly with an FU at both Survivor Series (chain shot ahead of time though) and at the Smackdown from Baghdad on Christmas.
-
Thank god bad ass heel Kurt Angle is back. He really gets sort of stale after playing the face for a long time.
-
And if anyone needs any more clarification, wrestlemania.com has times listed at the top of the page... 7 PM (et) and 4 PM (pt)

Having just seen the show today, it gets a 6 or 7 from me. The only stand-out match on the show for me was the main event, which totally delivered. Here's my ratings... Too Cool vs. Bashams & Shaniqua: * Boring opener, with two dull teams. Noble vs. Nidia: DUD Just horrible. APA vs. TWGTT: *3/4 Decent match that was slow in the beginning. I'm really happy TWGTT won, though. Holly vs. Rhyno: 3/4* Another really boring match that seemed to go on forever. Rey vs. Chavo: ***1/2 Best cruiserweight match in a long time, with a bad finish. Triple Threat: **1/2 Dull match to start, and it picked up in the end. I liked the finish seeing Angle chop block Cena and lock in the Ankle Lock to win. I would have really liked to see Big Show destroy Cena afterwards, though. Brock vs. Eddie: ****1/2 Awesome, awesome match, and a definite MOTYC. I figured it wouldn't be as good because of too much focus on Goldberg, but luckily he only came in for a quick spear, and they gave Eddie some time to win the match on his own. The celebration afterward is great, too.

I forget where, but I read somewhere that Vince has no intentions of putting himself in a match this year.

I think the split shows are fine the way they are. There's no need to go back to the Undisputed Champion deal. As said in the other thread about the split, if it ends, then you'll barely ever see any of the mid and under card guys.
