    Social Security...not really doomed?

That's my main deal with Social Security as it pertains to me, I don't mind putting in money in taxes and whatnot to help the common good right now, but I want a guarantee or something that I will recieve similar benefits when my time tfor social security comes.

The Orange Bowl Thread, Take 2

Even though OU is getting the ever loving shit kicked out of them, no one can take away the fact that they have had a great year and that this is just one of those games where they don't have anything going their way. USC isnt really hands down more talented than OU, they are just getting every break possible.

    Social Security...not really doomed?

My take on it is why should someone 18-25 whom has a very likely chance of not recieving social security/ medicaid in its current chance be forced to pay into those programs. Why should i get 38.00 or whatever it is taken out of every check to go to a program that i am not sure i will have access to.

    College sports

Big 10 hoops hasn't been good in years. Illinois, and Michigan St. are the only real Top 25 teams. Sorry, but Iowa needs to prove it the whole season. I know that it's kind of off-topic, but I just can't let this go. Michigan State is the most overrated team in the country, and will be lucky to even make the tournament by the time it comes around. Meanwhile, Iowa is a legit Elite 8 team, and the only team in the Big Ten who has a real shot at knocking off Illinois. Basing how good a team is off their name value can lead to egregious errors. Let's wait and see what they do in conference when it really matters

How Reggie White's death ties into steriods

Barry Sanders was better than Emmitt Smith, sorry he would have destroyed Payton's record had he played and he did most of that behind decent at best offensive lines

    Will there be another GTA?

I want to see GTA: Detroit. It would be the most realistic game to date with all the random murders and criminal rampages going on in that place right now. A European setting does sound pretty awesome right now, in all honesty
  9. I just can't see Trish being on roids ,shes not really big at all. I mean she did used to be a fitness model, and i know clean girls who are about Trish's body type who play sports here that are bigger naturally, She just doesnt scream female roid freak to me.

    Jay-Z vs. Linkin Park

Sorry, Jay Z isn't street rap. He may have been at one time, but not now. 99 Problems may have seemed edgy with Rubin's crunchy guitars and dark video - but that whole album is total pop. I liked the album, but when I look for legit street rap albums, I wouldn't ever ever ever look towards the Black Album. how exactly is 99 problems a pop rap song again.

    A playoff in I-A football

Its not a shithole its a nice stadium, and they have never crammed in 120,000 people in the stadium and they actually have 107,501 seats and counting. The only time you ever feel crowded there is when everyone in the student section is going nuts

thats cool at least you understand that college football has a crap system for deciding a champion... just have another quick question why do you think OU can do no wrong. I'm not saying they arent a great team because hell OU is spectacular.. just curious

    Favorite field surface in football

Field Turf is the best surface, that I have played on and I have played on all three. Astroturf is like falling on fucking cement espeically at the Silverdome, and then grass fields especially multipurpose fields at the high school level get so destroyed by the end of the football season that they are almost unplayable. Fieldturf is about as close to grass as you can get and it doesnt get worn down as much as grass does.

    The Official Rose Bowl Thread

You can't honestly think that could actually happen, given that you've followed the Big XII for the last two years. Mack Brown hasn't won a single game of any importance at Texas. You know, I do miss MikeSC, if only for the fact that he could argue this much more humourously than I ever could. I'm not saying it's going to happen. I'm just saying that IF it did. I think that Texas actually caught a break going to the BCS b/c this Michigan team isn't as good as it could be. They got beat by ND and Ohio State. Regardless if it was a rivalry game or not Ohio State isn't that good. Plus they almost lost to San Diego State! The Texas defense is good enough to keep them in the game. But the moment Mack Brown starts playing dueling QB's and running draw plays on 4th and 12 I can turn the TV off and know what the result will be. Wow Michigan lost to two rivals both on the road. Texas barely beat Arkansas and Kansas. I will end this once and for all. If Cal plays Southern Miss when they were supposed to we are not having this discussion. Cal basically was punished for winning a game and that's flat out wrong. Texas should not be in the game over Cal since they did not even play this week. Texas beating A&M wasn't enough to move them over Cal, so how could them not even playing and Cal beating a damn competitive Southern Miss team on the road be enough to move them up. The system is horrible and needs to be changed. Fuck Texas they choke every season with all the talent in the world, and all the kids at Cal who thought they were going to the Rose Bowl, the first for their school in nearly 50 years, get to go to San Diego as a reward for having a great season including outplaying the best team in the nation on the road. Cal's loss wasa better performance than all of Texas's wins including the Oklahoma State game

the point that OU is better than Cal means pretty much nothing. By the same token, USC beat Virgina Tech who is better than anyone Oklahoma has seen sans maybe Texas, and USC's best near loss is against a team that is both better than anyone OU has played and better than both of OU's near losses.

    A playoff in I-A football

You would use the current four bowls as the first round playoff sites. Then you would have two predetermined sites, say like Ford Field and Arrowhead Stadium for the Semis, and then you would play the finals at another predetermined site. I say Michigan Stadium just because I want to see a bowl game there

    March Madness 2005

I have the game, and imo, its pretty good. They fixed the gameplay to some extent, you still get way too many blocks. You can no longer pro hop through people and the floor general play calling is pretty sweet. The dynasty mode seems kinda long and drawn out with the stupid PDA crap they brought over from Live. I would say still check out Espn 2k5 College Basketball before buying a basketball game. I didn't check it out and I hear its pretty good, I might give both games a rental before deciding to buy one or the other

    A playoff in I-A football

The thing about a playoff is that it will show that maybe the best team isnt always the #1 or #2 team, but maybe the one loss #6 team who has been under the radar all season. Who is to say that one loss Cal or Texas wouldnt win it all in an 8 team playoff. This is the way I would do the BCS playoff 1.You keep the 4 bowl games and 8 teams 2. You use the BCS rankings to determine which teams go. Top 8 teams go no matter what. Pittsburgh, Michigan, yes you won a major conference but there are more deserving teams that can go. This year you would have USC, Oklahoma, Auburn, Cal, Texas, Utah, Georgia, Virginia Tech. There would still be controversy with Louisville and Boise left out. 3. You play 1-8, 2-7-,3-6, 4-5 and then assign them to the closest bowl game of the higher ranked team, meaning USC would go to the Rose Bowl, so you have somewhat tradition with the bowl games. 4. Winners of 1/8 and 4/5 play and then the winners of 2/7 3/6 play at two rotating stadiums in the nation. 5. The winners of the games play in a rotating location the weekend of the NFL conference title games. I think this is a good idea because it would be such a huge weekend of football. 6. The rest of the teams in the nation would play bowl games. Yes I know it dimminishes the importance of the EV1.net Houston Bowl, but thats what the NIT is for in college basketballl, the good teams who weren't good enough to make it to the Big Dance

    The Official Orange Bowl Thread

And they've played almost absolutely outmatched teams in those three games. USC will be the best team OU has seen in the last three seasons and I don't think they will be able to contain all of the weapons, SC has. They have to contend with stopping Bush and Leinart and let's not forget that LenDale White can come in and bruise you all day. USC has multiple playmakers at the skill posititions and I think that will enough to win against OU. The keys for Oklahoma to win are to keep a spy on Bush all game no matter where he lines up, protect Jason White, and have balance on offense. If they can get Peterson the ball 20-25 times and have White throw the ball about 25-35 times to where they can both control the clock but still move the ball they have a good chance of winning the game. I think USC is a bit more talented of a team and in a game where both coaching staffs are so good I don't think coaching will be the winning factor that it will come down to which team has more big plays. Final Score: USC 28 Oklahoma 20

    The Official Rose Bowl Thread

Yes, Iowa did get smoked early in the year by Arizona State, but they were arguably the second hottest team in the nation after Virgina Tech the last half of the season. The Big Ten wasn't flat out horrible like people think, you just had too many underachiving teams like Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan State, even Wisconsin who totally fell apart at the end of the year. Michigan should beat Texas in a close one if they can just contain Vincent Young's running ability. If they cannot it will be Troy Smith part two where we shut down the team and allow the quarterback to make plays all day with his feet to kill us.

    The Official Orange Bowl Thread

The difference between the Cal situation and the last yr Oklahoma situation is that Cal's one loss was by 6 in a game played on the road against the number 1 team in the nation and Cal still totally outplayed USC. Oklahoma got blasted on a neutral field by a lower ranked team. Cal deserves to go over Texas, they are a better team and their only real close wins were against Oregon, at a tough place to play, and against a pretty decent Southern Miss team on the road late in the year in a makeup game.

For the 4th time in 5 Years

However they didnt play the second best one loss team that year and who is to say Miami or Washington would not have beaten them. OU won the title that year but the system did not pit them against the true #2 team

So Bonds admits to using steriods "Unknowingly"

The fac that steroids are illegal means nothing. Did they take away all of Dwight Gooden strikeouts from the games where he was wired up on coke. The fact is Bonds didn't fail any drug tests for steroids that we know of so how can they strip him of any of his records
