Jason Giambi admitted to taking steroids

Everyone was on the juice. Notice how almost every player seemed to be talking about weight training and off-season training programs back in the mid 90's. It seems like so many guys came back bigger stronger and faster over the offseason that the only way some guys thought they could compete was to use steroids. I'm not condoning steroid use at all, but I will say the shit doesn't make you see the ball any better, although it does allow you to turn a double off the wall to a homerun. Baseball did this to themselves by having the absolute worst drug testing system ever. Yes they caught the Howe's, Gooden's, and Strawberry's of the world, but missed all the roid users. That seems to me to be a bigger problem than recreational drugs since steroids give you a competitive advantage and do much more than lines of coke to threaten the integrity of the game

Hell I grew up in a football mad town where we put out two national title winning coaches from the same graduating class and then I move out to Ann Arbor for school and this place is just football mad. You can't go anywhere in the city without seeing something about the football team or the University. The entire state of Michigan is pretty hardcore about football all the way from the great high school ball played here to the DII powerhouses to Michigan and Michigan State

    Notre Dame fires Willingham

Yes because Willingham should be expected to come in and run a West Coast offense with players recruited to run an running attack. He didnt have a chance to get players that fit his system fully intergrated. Give him two more classes of recruits to go along with guys like Walker, and Quinn and he would get them back to 9-10 wins a season. The thing about football is you can't bring in a new coach with a new system and expect to win with the old players. They didnt win with these guys in a system they were recruited for and they sure as hell were not going to win with them in a west coast style of play.

This Indiscriminate time period in College Hoops

Michigan won the NIT last year, had some key players injured and was a preseason top 25 team that has played probably the toughest schedule in the nation to this point. When you have a walk-on starting against a top 5 team you will probably get blown out. A healthy Michigan team plays Georgia Tech much tougher. Thanks

    Who deserves the Heisman Trophy

I dont understand why Hart doesnt get as much Heisman pub considering he didnt even play the first few games. Without him Michigan does not beat Purdue or Michigan State
  6. so wait they managed to get Angelia Jolie and Rosario Dawson in the same movie together, and only got one naked. Fuck you Oliver Stone, some nude lesbian action between those two would have gotten three or four viewings from me

    Jay-Z vs. Linkin Park

Agreed. The lyrics and beats far exceed his last few efforts. JAxl (or anyone), do you know what song he used the bassline from "Five to One" on? I recall hearing that and a little bit of "Light My Fire" during Jay's MTV Unplugged performance. Blueprint was better. The song was Takeover that he sampled Five to One for and calling 99 problems pop-rap is one of the most absurd comments I have ever seen on this board another example of why the rap bashers need to stay out of any discussions about rap

If I am not mistaken Kansas is where Naismith coached... you know the guy who invented the game. They have so much history and tradition and hell its one of the 5 or 6 schools I would send my son to if I had one and he could hit the open three. Besides, Duke has what three titles, and Carolina has what two or three same for Indiana. And what schools in football are honestly more prestigious than Michigan other than arguably USC, Notre Dame, Alabama, and OU

This Week in College Football 11/18 - 11/20

Since Texas did not win their conference they have to be in the top 4 in the BCS to get a automatic berth. Cal is ranked #4, and they will get the at large bid to the Rose Bowl since they want the Big 10 Pac 10 matchup

No, I'm saying if they would have played either one of those teams they would have gotten their doors blown off.

No, Cal should not go over an undefeated OU team. Who exactly has Cal beaten this season that has been really good. Their best performance was a loss. Michigan pulled the same shit they always did yesterday, not coming to play, and then calling some horrible plays, and they totally don't deserve to go to Pasadena over Iowa.

O well Michigan lost, we still have a conference title and can still smell the Roses if Iowa does us a huge favor and wins tonight

why do you keep bringing up the injured qb thing as far as last year goes. Thats like saying well yeah Michigan would have won in all in 2001 if Drew Henson wouldn't have went to the Yankees or Miami would have won in 2002 if Dorsey wouldn't have been knocked out the game and not been 100% in overtime. He should not have been in that game last season no matter the circumstances, and in 2000, let's be honest he didn't play Miami or Washignton who were both better than Florida State that year. Stoops has had two seasons, 2000 and this year, for now where he has had the team in position to play for the national title

Depending on who you talk to Michigan has anywhere from 12 to 6 national titles. And you have to put them higher than OU as far as being one of programs you identify college football with.

    HOLY FUCKIN SHIT

Being that i saw this happen on both ESPN and local Detroit coverage and from friends in the stands what I have heard is that the fans threw beer at Artest who went in and threw some punches followed by Steven Jackson. Then players from both teams along with Rick Mahorn tried to break it up. I guess the guy who Artest went after didnt throw the beer but it was his friend the guy in the blue shirt and white hat who was sucker punching Artest who threw the beer. O'neal and Artest were in the right for knocking the piss out of that guy who was on the court and confronting them, and I don't think that Wallace overreacted since this shit happens all the time in the NBA. The situatoin was cooling off until some fucking idiot Detroit fan decided to throw a beer at Artest. I then had to listen to all my homer friends talk about how artest was in the wrong here when I think he should have knocked the piss out of the guy who threw the beer at him. The fans deserved what they get when they start throwing things like chairs at players and throwing punches. Local coverage showed how the fans near the entrance to the locker room area were throwing full beers and whatnot on these players many of whom like David Harrison either had nothing to do with the situation or were trying to break it up. Detroit's fans totally acted without class and escalated a situation that was dying down and they are to blame moreso than the players. Artest had calmed down and was just relaxing not even getting into it with Wallace when some jackass decides to try and be cool.

Oklahoma wasn't very good for the first 50 seasons or so of their existence. They didn't become a powerhouse until the late 40's under Wilkinson who is one of the best coaches ever. Then after he left they were average at best for about 10 years or so. Then came the Switzer era, which had some years that were when OU was on probation in the 70's, but they still were always a top 5 team save for a few seasons in the early 80's in which they were average. Then he came back with 5 losses from 1984-87, which has to be somewhat tarnished looking back on how much dirty shit was going on at OU. This was the beginning of the end where you had quarterbacks getting arrested for selling cocaine and things and OU ended up dropping down to the level of average to downright bad for a few seasons. Then Stoops somehow turned a 7-5 team into a 12-0 team that won it all in 2000. Even though I do not think they would have beaten Miami or Washington that season if they played them but they beat everyone on their schedule so that's no fault of OU. They had a few years of hard luck against OSU and we all know about last season. They will continue to be a top 5 or 10 team for the next decade since they will get the players and Stoops seems to run a very clean program. I just don't think they will be the dominant team year in and year out for the next decade or so. But hell you want to talk about teams that could have truckloads of national titles. Michigan has the worst luck of any program. They might be the only team to ever go undefeated and still find a way to tie three teams. From 1975-1984 they lost 8 games by 10 points or more and three of those were in one season. They have one .500 or worse season in the last 35 years. In 1985, they might have been the best team in the nation. They lost on a last second field goal against #1 Iowa but pretty much ran through the rest of the schedule. Or 1988, they opened the season with Miami and Notre Dame and lost by a combined three points. Who in the hell has ever scheduled two teams that good out of conference back to back weeks. They played the eventual national champion and runner up back to back weeks and lost by three points I don't think too many schools can say that. Year in and year out they are always ranked and have 36 top ten finishes since 1940. Oklahoma has 32, Alabama 30, Notre Dame 33, USC has 22. Just throwing out some facts

Oklahoma is about Number 4 at the highest if not lower in the echelon of College football programs. Number one is either Notre Dame or a case can be made for Michigan. Then you have Alabama who has 10 National Titles and a truckload of history. Then you have to look USC being ahead of them. USC has been pretty much dominant all but for a 6 year stretch in the 1990's. OU is definitely in the top 6 or 7 and I have them ranked 5th all-time. Notre Dame, Michigan, Alabama, USC are more prestigious, have history dating back to the 1900's and are the first four schools you have to mention about college football

Let's try another Worst Commish poll.

Well St.Louis is a sports mad town as it is. It seems like everywhere they have went outside of maybe Columbus and Denver is either a retirement community or just suited for hockey. Hell Bettman would have been better off putting a team in a place like Wisconsin which could support a team or the obvious places like Seattle or Portland but he choose places like Miami and Phoenix
