This Week in College Football 11/14 - 11/18

Playoff.... that's all I have to say after today. The people saying that Michigan was outclassed because of OSU turnovers, what is wrong with you. Turnovers are a part of a football. Fucking up a snap, is something that the opposing team should be punished for. If you don't want to consider the OSU turnovers, then don't consider the fact that Ryan Mundy bit on a playaction, where if it was run, would have been stuffed, or that Shawn Crable blew a tackle, and had an awful penalty. Either way all of those things were part of the game. It was a classic game, and yes OSU was the better team today, but, if the Patriots beat the Steelers in week 16 for homefield, and the the Steelers beat them in the AFC title game, no one would say well the Patriots won in the regular season, they already beat them so this doesn't count. The system is fucked, and you can't tell me that the Michigan team today, which has one loss, to the best team in the nation, on the road, by three, where you can argue that a stupid penalty deprived them of a chance to try and have a drive to win the game, is less deserving of a Florida team that has been squeaking by people left and right (Western Carolina excluded, at least Michigan's late season team was from a D1-A conference), a USC team that has been less than impressive and lost to fucking Oregon State, and god forbid a Notre Dame team that has played hot dick for two months and got blasted at home by Michigan. If Michigan isn't the second best team in the nation then who is? Not Florida, Arkansas, USC, Texas, West Virginia, etc. None of those teams can say they went into the Horseshoe, with all the shit surrounding this game, and played the best team in the nation to a three point game, which as Iggy said, is statiscally due to home field advantage, a tie. If this game was in Ann Arbor, or Glendale, or fucking Helena, Montana, who is to say Michigan wouldnt win. I want to see the two teams play again

This whole fucking thing stinks...I am convinced that a Michigan-Ohio State rematch is in order, for the sole fact that if that game is close, the loser can say they lost to the legit #1 team in the nation, and that was it. Everyone else has some absurd loss on their resume. Provided Rutgers loses to West Virginia, you have something like this, USC lost to Oregon State, Florida lost to Auburn( who lost to a down Georgia team), Arkansas got smashed by USC, USC/Notre Dame lost the Notre Dame/USC, and Notre Dame has played shit this season outside of Michigan. Texas is done with two losses. All the Big East teams are fucked because they all beat each other. Any team out of the ACC should not be considered for the national title. It's not any indictment against any of these teams, it just gives more evidence that some sort of multi team playoff is needed. Why should Michigan or Ohio State be punished for losing to the best team in the nation in November moreso than USC would be for losing to Oregon State, Florida for losing to Auburn, or god forbid....Notre Dame getting smashed at home by Michigan in September

    World Series: Tigers vs. Cardinals

The Tigers are blowing this series to this point, and while its not over, Detroit has given up so many unearned runs its becoming borderline absurd

    World Series: Tigers vs. Cardinals

I'm probably the only Detroit fan who was terrified of playing the Cards after what a week plus off. Errors have cost Detroit what 6 or 7 runs out of the 13 St. Louis has scored. Detroit just looks flat but I am confident that they can win at least one in St.Louis to get the series back to Detroit and win in either 6 or 7. All the idiots who were calling sweep for Detroit are idiots. This is a St.Louis club where their core group of players have been here before wheras Detroit has maybe two guys who have played in the Series before. It is going to be a great next few games I think.

Michigan can't overlook Northwestern at home this week. They have to put it away early and give the starters some time to rest. They need to stay sharp and focused going into the game in Columbus

The Big Ass Super Bowl Disscusion Thread

This is idiotic, we might as well start up a college football bowl thread as well. Nothing has been decided as far as what teams will even be in the playoffs. For all we know, the Bears could lose 8 of the next 10 games and not make the playoffs. There are so many things that have to happen before anyone could even discuss who will be playing come January. We already have an NFL season thread going, and therefore this thread is pretty useless

    World Series: Tigers vs. Cardinals

I don't like that everyone is picking Detroit to win. I really really don't want to be let down. St Louis is a good team, and I don't think that this will be a sweep, I just don't. I'm terrified of Detroit losing the Series after coming this far

    BCS Rankings 10/15

Its just absurd that a formula which doesn't take into account things like Cal got murdered at Tennessee and therefore under no circumstances should Cal be ranked ahead of Tennessee, that makes the whole system a joke. What if somehow wacky shit happens, and Cal ended up in the title game over a one loss Tennessee team? The more I look at years like this where there is NO clear cut number one team, that I think a playoff is needed. For all we know, Michigan and Ohio State could be the best two teams, or Auburn and Florida could be. With the polls and stuff we get a general idea which teams are the top 8 or 12, but after that there is no conclusive way to determine which teams stand out from the rest.

    BCS Rankings 10/15

Michigan was kind of hindered in who they could play with the extra game. They ended up getting the extra game week later in the season, and they would be idiotic to play another powerhouse school in early November. They have Oregon coming next year. USC has played better out of Conference teams, but they have absolute cakewalks against squads like Stanford, and Oregon State. Michigan has played Penn State, Wisconsin who are better than any teams in the Pac-10 not named Oregon and Cal. Notre Dame is a wash, since both teams play them, and also Michigan still has a decent Iowa team, again better than anyone that USC will play in conference outside of the aforementioned teams. On top of that Michigan has to play Ohio State at the end of the year which makes all this talk of who should be number 2 irrelevant since Michigan or OSU will get knocked out. This whole thing is going to become a mess in a few weeks, especially if USC drops a game. You would have the loser of OSU-Michigan, USC, Florida, Texas, West Virginia, Louisville, Auburn, Clemson, all with one potential loss. Its so damn hard to figure out who the second best team is. This is why I say 8-team playoff to solve all of this crap but the university presidents disagree.

This Week in College Football 10/12 - 10/15

Why is everyone just handing OSU an undefeated season. Michigan was able to knock out not one, but two Penn State quarterbacks. With the way the Michigan defense has been playing, I honestly think that they will beat Ohio State.

ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland A's

Well, it is safe to say out of all the American NHL towns, that Detroit has the most history( Most Cups) and everything, so in that regard, the Hockeytown USA moniker is somewhat appropriate. Plus you add in that high school and college hockey are both huge here in Michigan, and you can easily say that Detroit is a huge hockey town. But I just think that Detroit is a baseball town historically. The Tigers were here in 1901

ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland A's

Detroit before the dark ages that was everything post 1993 until now , was always a baseball town first. The Pistons sucked until the 1980s. The Lions still suck and have won one playoff game in almost 50 years, and the Red Wings hit a dry spell in the 70s and 80s. My family has told me of traffic jams due to people trying to get to the stadium to see Mark Fidrych pitch. The Tigers were the best team record wise throughout the 1980s. The passion has always been kinda asleep over the last 15 years because there hasn't been much to cheer about. People were talking about the Tigers making the playoffs last season before they fell off. Detroit is a baseball town, and when you have had to deal with shitty teams for 15 years and then they have this amazing year, its always going to look like bandwagoning to outside observers. Most of the people here in Detroit actually know their shit about the team.

Typical state..... and I don't think that anyone could say that Michigan or USC has a tougher schedule than Florida. After the next two weeks, Michigan doesn't play anyone with a pulse leading up to the OSU game. USC played a pretty good (now) Arkansas team and beat them bad. They beat Nebraska in a game that seemed like the Huskers were more worried about not getting blown out than winning. Now they have pretty tough stretch with Cal,ND,Oregon, but they are playing two teams (Oregon and ND) that should have two losses already if it wasn't for the ineptitude of the Pac-10 refs and John L. Smith. Which call team will show up? Who knows. That should be SC's only legit challenge the rest of the year. If Michigan ate up ND's corners, then with Jarrett and Smith, USC should have a field day passing the football downfield

ALDS: Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees

well take your shit and eat it too. The Tigers were counted out before one game was played in this series. I am just thankful that this team is helping to restore pride in the city. With the Wings and Pistons blowing it and the economy being in the shitter, Detroit needed a team like this to bring life to the city. I just can't believe that the team i followed when they couldn't win 50 games is almost on the cusp of beating the best offensive lineup i have ever seen. I am so proud of this team just because they have never ever quit

I am having too much fun with this right now....The Yankees look shook as hell. Now I have a tough choice... Game 4 tomorrow for 50 dollars or Michigan-MSU. I am so happy right now

This Week in College Football 10/3 - 10/8

Michigan State still scares the fuck out of me. This game could be like the last three games( really close) or it could be like the 2002 shit stomping. It all depends on the health of Stanton. If he's on, it will be a close game. If he is limited or just not in the game due to injury it might get extremely ugly. It didn't help that John L Smith called Michigan "not that good of a team". That's a great idea to to diss a team that is pissed off about last season, who has been shredding teams, and will have a rare drunk and loud crowd for a 4:30 kickoff in a rivalry game that they have at home. MSU needs a coach who isn't an idiot

ALDS: Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees

I watched the game at one of the bars here and all the Yankees fans were talking about is how much the Tigers suck and how the only reason they won the game was because A-Rod struck out and that A-rod sucks. Keep in mind two of his strikeouts, I don't think anyone else could have hit those pitches. I can count about 30 other teams that would gladly have A-Rod as their third baseman. Yankees fans are so damn spoiled, that they get on a guy for having a "down" year in which he hit .290 with 35 home runs and 121 runs batted in. Those are legit MVP type stats, and keep in mind the guy is playing a different position out of respect for Derek Jeter. I just get so pissed off when I see a team that I've followed my entire life, finally make it to the big stage, and totally get treated as a total joke. I really hope the Tigers win the next two at home, so the Yankees can go out and try to buy more players instead of building a "team". They don't have any sort of chemistry together, and their management isn't that great. Yes, they developed some great players, in Jeter, Cano, Posada, Mo, etc. But for the most part, anyone with half a brain can build an all-star team with an unlimited budget. I just think its hilarious that Yankees fans sit around and bitch and complain and moan that they haven't won a World Series in six years. They don't have any sense of rooting for the hometown team when they are having a down period, and they don't show any humility when their team loses.

ALDS: Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees

Yankees fans can kiss my ass. I respect the 26 world titles, the 39 pennants and the 200 million dollar payroll. What I don't respect is Yankees fans treating the Tigers like some kind of joke. They won 95 games this year, which is something you just don't get lucky and do. The team has shown they aren't afriad of the Yankees, but yet all NY fans can do is find excuses to why their team lost. They simply ran into a team today that made more plays when it mattered. A-Rod had no chance at nearly any of the pitches he saw today, but its A-Rod fucking up that is the reason why he struck out, not the fact that Zumaya was throwing 103 with movement. Now, someone makes a comment about Kenny Rogers not scaring the Yankees...well, Randy Johnson isn't scaring anything but the mirror with the way he is pitching. Detroit has the momentum, and I hope to god that they win the next two because frankly, I hate the Yankees fans that much. So some respect when you lose to the better team
