Yeah, and the fact that Bron Bron stepped out of bounds on that three pointer and the Pistons ended up losing by two, I mean it doesnt excuse the Pistons laying an egg, but that seemed to be an obvious call that should have been overturned.

Well, tonight is the night. Detroit needs to come out and play with some fucking intensity or be sent home packing...again. I don't understand how a team puts up the fifth most points in the history of the NHL and then turns around and gets run in the playoffs. Edmonton is just outworking Detroit and its not even close. Kenny Holland needs to dump the geezers and get some more gritty, agressive, and younger players. I'm still watching the same guys who were pushing 30 during the first Cup run trying to still play and its clear that this is a team that just isn't built to win in the playoffs. And Detroit needs to give up the Hockeytown USA shit, because Joe Louis Arena sounded like a library during game 5.

I personally think that suspending athletes for testing postive for non-performance enhancers is just plain silly. I've smoked enough pot in my day to know that I could not possibly play flag football let alone NFL football while being stoned.

Spring college football practices are starting...
lomasmoney replied to therealworldschampion's topic in Sports
Its perfectly acceptable to protect a player like Peterson. The last thing the Sooners need is their all-american back blowing out his knee or something and being out the whole season. Without AP, OU is a average at best team that would have a tough time winning the Big XII, whereas with him, they are always a legit contender for a BCS bowl, especially if Bomar continues to improve, and stops getting MIP's -
The Kings damn sure won't get Nick Lidstrom, he's the next captain of the Red Wings, and he's gonna be a Wing until he retires. I don't see them getting Sakic for the same reason. However, I don't think the Sens will be able to keep both Redden and Chara (which sucks ass, one bad thing about the cap), so they could possibly sign one of those two with Ottawa keeping the other

I thought A-Rod was making like $25 million. And what a joke. Jeter is so SELFISH for wanting equal money. The Yankees-Rangers deal for A-Rod worked in that the Rangers had to take on some of the $25 million a season A-Rod was making a season at that point, and I believe that some of Rodriguez's salary was deferred until after he retired or what have you

University of Michigan-Ann Arbor( I add that, because most people who I meet back home assume I go to Flint or Dearborn-based off how much I can drink). Could have went to USC,Princeton, Texas, or UVA, but I chose to stay in-state and pay out of my ass. USC was offering me a sweet deal where I would have to only pay like $3,000 more than I pay to go here, but I've always wanted to be a Wolverine since I can remember. I love the researching here, even though I keep getting dicked over when I try to get some undergrad research jobs After this its either School of Public Policy here or Law School wherever I get in

As far as the whole sports stadiums thing is concerned, my high school needs a larger stadium. We have the traditional, bleachers on each side and a press box stadium and when we play anyone good at home, you have to show up an hour + early. Well, thats how it was when I was in high school and we were one of the best football teams in Michigan. My school had a pretty good vocational program where kids would work in the kitchens and prepare the foods, and most of the stuff was legitimately good and healthy and I would usually eat there while I was working in the office fourth period and then go to open lunch at Subway or somewhere similar since I couldnt eat the shit food at McDonalds back then. I think that PE should be a two year requirement if you don't do sports. I know so many kids who I grew up with who have health problems at age 20,21 that could have been lessened if they did any physical activity in high school. I mean I also think that we should be teaching upper level math, science, literature, civics to kids by the time they are in middle school. I was so bored by the time I got to high school with the curriculum that I just dicked around and still graduated in the top of my class. Now, I am in college bored out of my mind. I think America needs to start challenging their kids at a younger age academically or you end up with people like me, who while smart or whatever, don't feel that they are getting anything out of the educational system.

What time did this shit even come on last night, I flipped on NBC at 11 and it was not on, was it possibly blacked out in Detroit since that's where the show was. Either way, I think everyone's assessments about how stale the WWE are on point. I have friends who watched during the Attitude era, that will turn on Raw or Smackdown, and see the same guys they saw 7 years ago. So many times you hear, "man, that's HHH, he used to be in DX". There is something boring about watching the same people do the same shit for years on end

Make sure you have the most up to date version of Windows Media Player....unfortunate because it sucks, but a needed evil to watch basketball on demand

Hopefully, The Tigers can make a legitimate run at an 85+ win season. The last 13 years of them sucking have been so awful, I don't think they are good enough to contend for the division especially being in the AL Central which is loaded with Cleveland, Minnesota, and the defending World Champions. 85 wins and maybe being in the chase come August is enough for me.

The kid who kills with wrestling moves fucked up again.
lomasmoney replied to Art Sandusky's topic in General Wrestling
Yeah, this fuck needs to go to jail. This is from someone who thought the original sentence they gave him in the wrestling death case was harsh, but at age 19, you really know that pulling guns out and robbing people is wrong. There are no excuses, and they should give him the maximum sentence, he already got one chance to repair his life, but he fucked up again -
I'm black, go to a great school, have a job, and I still drink everyday, and am an honors student. Am I a functioning alcoholic or just the exception to the norm

West Va, is still my sleeper team, they can shoot the three to the point where they are lights out on certain nights, and they won't run into any of the Big East teams until the later rounds, I see them getting to the sweet 16 at worst

I agree, it isn't proven that Brown wouldn't have played an NBA-ready rookie stud like Bosh,Wade, or Melo. Projects like Darko can never develop on a good team like the Pistons, but a proven collegiate stud could have fit in on that team. Honestly, the Pistons would have been better off drafting Darko and working out some deal where he would play in the best European leagues for a few years, and then come over at age 20 or 21. He would have played there much more and been more confident. It is obvious the kid can play but he just can't translate his skills into games because he comes in at garbage time and just was treated as a total joke from day 1. Brown and even Flip should have been playing him 20 minutes a night against joke teams like the Hawks and Raptors

The NBA is a joke, all of this stuff was on TV and I had no clue, they really need to market the All-Star Weekend much better
-
I think everyone needs to read the ESPN.com article Bill Simmons wrote about the Darko trade, basically he goes into how the best basketball team on earth could be one of the best dynasties ever if they had actually drafted a functional basketball player with the #2 pick in one of the top 3 drafts ever, instead of an awkward kid from Serbia. Seriously, if the Pistons drafted me in 2003 when i was a 6' 175lb high school all-region guard they would have been better off than drafting Darko. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=simmons/060217

Man, that is just disturbing, I mean my only brother wants to become a pro wrestler he has the natural size and what not, but if the constant youthful deaths are what happens to people in this business, its not something I want my best friend in. Dying at 39 is way too soon, without it being an accident, or some sort of genetic disorder. Its not even shocking anymore when these men leave behind wives and children before they hit forty years of age, someone needs to step in, you do not see any group of athletes/entertainers dying at this young age outside of possibly 1970s NFL players who die from probably the lifesyle of that era

Storied Franchises in Total Disarray
lomasmoney replied to JaMarcus Russell's #1 Caucasian Fan's topic in Sports
Well, I don't know if you can count the Detroit Liions as a storied franchise, but they were a powerhouse in the 1950's. In such a sports mad place like Detroit, it is awful that our football team has won one playoff game in my DAD's lifetime. One playoff win in 50 years is just awful and the organization went from being constantly mediocre during the Fontes/Sanders years to being absolutely terrible since Millen took over. Detroit has had 3 Red Wings, 3 Pistons, 2 Tigers, since then, but the Lions just tear our hearts out. As for the Tigers, I have hope that they will be much better this season, they had a ton of injuries last season, and they have made some nice moves this offseason. The Tigers are one of the most storied organizations in baseball, and it is just sad to see all the losing seasons in a row, the Randy Smith era of suck. I'm almost 21 years old, and I've seen maybe two winning seasons that I can remember. Contrary to my dad's generation, who saw the great '68 and '84 teams, plus division titles and the streak of winning records from like 1979-1988 -
Yeah, Darko is a project who just happens to be on a team thats so good that they can't afford to run him out there for 20 minutes a night. I will say that once the Pistons lock up home court throughout the playoffs, he should be starting or at least getting 20 minutes a game because the only way he will develop is if he plays enough to get his confidence up. Last year at the end of the season when he played, he was actually somewhat impressive, now its just a matter of him sustaining that confidence and aggression. If the Pistons can get ANYTHING out of Darko, I'm talking him coming in maybe 8-10 solid minutes, and making some shots, rebounding, blocks, just him being an active big man, then look out because I don't see anyone who would be able to beat them in a 7 game series

I am sorry, but as a Detroit fan, I have absolutely no clue why they would add black to what I consider top three in the NHL as far as uniforms. The fans like the black unis with the red and white wheel wing design but they like them as like a custom deal, not as something the team wears every night. It's a fucking horrible idea and tampering with any of the Original Six uniforms is just wrong. This is another reason why Gary Bettman should be taken out back and shot This is hockey, not basketball. The NHL and to a lesser extent college hockey, is why I can walk around Ann Arbor, Michigan with a Minnesota Twins hat and convince girls I was a redshirt defenseman in 2003 for the Golden Gopher hockey team and then be getting head from them as I type this. But whatever, Any sort of tampering with classic uniforms is just wrong. Reebok doesn't know hockey and neither does Bettman. The game as is, I think sells itself and has crossover appeal. I mean soccer has never got 9 black men from metro Detroit to watch a game, but hockey has. I just think the game is fine the way it is, and most of the time it is more enjoyable to watch than some shitty NBA game

Where does Michigan go in this weeks rankings. They beat two very good basketball teams, albeit both at home, but they did so without one of their top three players, Lester Abram. You would have to think beating two top 20 teams would be reason enough for them to jump to around #16 or so, correct

Dama, its fucking Cold Pizza, the show has no merit on athletics or journalism at all. Ignore it
-
If they can make college baseball, then they really should do college hockey. The game would sell huge in the Midwest, Canada, and the East Coast, and I am sure enough random people from all over North America would pick up the game to try it. They dont have to do more than like 50 teams and arenas so it wouldnt be that hard to do. They could just basically take NHL 06 and slap college teams in place of the pro ones and I would be happy

The only problem I have with domestic made cars is that I've had so many more problems with them than I have with foriegn made vehicles. For instance, my dad brought a $32,000 Mercury Mountaineer in 2002, and by the end of 03 he had so many problems with it that he traded it in for a minivan. My Saturn with only 59,000 miles on it had mutliple problems, too many to even list, and yet my mom's 97 Honda Accord with 120,000 miles on it, had nothing but standard problems such as replacing the tires, changing the oil, brakes, etc, but nothing like having the muffler fall off your Saturn 8 months after you buy it. The thing that sucks for me, is that being from Michigan, where the economy is so reliant on the automobile industry, that closing plants in this area is going to pretty much destroy families abilities to provide for themselves. For instance I have five family members who work for Ford at the Woodhaven Stamping Plant. If they were to close that plant, my two uncles , both with young children, my aunt (who is near retirement-time) and my cousin who has a barely one year old son to worry about would all be out of jobs. For my cousin, he has kind of been taking classes in school, and has a CDL to drive trucks or whatever, so he can find another job, but I mean for my other family its like you have worked somewhere 12-24 years and made it a career basically, and then because the people in charge of the company put out a poor business model you are shit out of luck on a job. I don't care what anyone says, the Honda Accord is the best value car on the market, in my opinion, and with all the talent in R&D at the Big 3 they should be able to put out cars that are way more efficent, especially in fuel economy. I would buy a domestic made car in a heartbeat that got 40 mpg. Better efficiency will get the Big 3 back on track and hopefully they don't have to put 100,000 people out of work to do so.
