This was what I was referring to: I don't think most people are just naming songs they hate. I mean, I said anything by Steppenwolf, but obviously I mean their hits. To continue the thread: a lot of Christmas music, but let's say "Jingle Bell Rock".

It could have been better. He was asking them to pray for his sister, whose name he told them. So they wouldn't have to mention his screen name in their prayers. Speaking of such things, I've started to seriously consider getting a tattoo that says "Milky". It's not about the internet, Milky is bigger than that now. Milky is a state of mind. -
Most of the songs mentioned do fit your criteria, though, Kawalimus. As an interesting sidenote, nothing is more oversaturating than muzak at work. Very interesting, my reactions to that. It got me to like James Taylor. They played Elton John more than anything else and I never got sick of it. Elton is that good. I got really sick of the Gnarls Barkley song "Crazy", so add that to the list. Also, "Let's Get Retarded". They didn't play that at work, but I'm sick of it too. And "Rock and Roll Part 2".

Yes, I can picture you and your wife deciding what to get on your pizza... "Pan seared pea snaps!" Yuppie shit can be bad. Not eggplant and parsnips, really, but like the stuff Patrick Bateman was always ordering. Free range rabbit with herb french fries, squid ravioli and god knows what else. To bring the two together, you might be interested to know that possum tastes pretty much exactly like rabbit.

Well, there was a reply that said that, it was just deleted. -
I've been listening to a lot of oldies lately. I listened to my Joe Meek box set and just kind of kept with that feel. It's interesting that a lot of songs about love feature a girl who is 16. Like, specifically mentioned as being 16. I've always said that should be the universal age of consent, and this supports it. It's also interesting that in this climate of 16 year old love, you get Gary Puckett's "Young Girl", which is about a girl who is much too young. If 16 isn't too young, much too young is probably south of 14. Sick!

I disagree. James Taylor is an artist who I never liked until maybe a year or so ago, then he started to kind of grow on me. This came, I think, at least partially from the muzak where I was working at the time. They played 8 Elton John songs, the record, but James Taylor was in second place with 6.

Jaws is my third favorite movie. That's interesting about him being offered the lead in Deer Hunter. I wonder how that would have turned out...

You don't have to defend yourself. It's a nice thing to do. -
Black people are actually brown.

Stop saying "internet wrestling board" or variations thereof! You don't need to specify that it's on the internet. That actually makes it much more effective and important than a non internet message board, ie a bulletin board. Like, with pins. But anyway, I can understand why he'd post the thread. If you believe prayer does something, it's beneficial to get the message out any way you can. Sadly, prayer does nothing. God is dead and we're alone.

But you know, I spent a large part of my childhood in rural Illinois, and lived in backwoods Kentucky for a while too, and I never saw some fucking hot dog gravy. Fried bolonga, sure. Hamburger Helper, Little Debby, Spaghetti-O's on spaghetti, syrup sandwiches, stirring the Kool Aid with your arm... real tomato ketchup, Eddie? Sure, I've experienced all of that. And that's what I liked. Even the aforementioned ketchup on spaghetti... and on potato chips. I developed a reputation as a picky eater when I was a kid, but it was only because everything was so terrible. Man, I have to get back in touch with my roots. I could write a book. There's pictures of me when I was like four taking a bath in the sink.

I actually like Monkeybone.

You're thinking of "The Pusher"? "Pusherman" is by Curtis Mayfield. One of my absolute favorite songs, that is.

Joe Dirt is just some middle of the road crap in my opinion, I don't find it particularly horrible. The one part I appreciated was him having Jaime Pressley say that she was his sister while they were having sex. I've tried that with girls. It's dirty!

Others are probably as big an asshole as you, but they also have redeeming qualities. You're just pure evil. Like me. Except I balance it out by being gay. -
You know, I haven't seen the Zilla movie since it was in theaters. I might want to revisit that. I do remember a couple of nice scenes amid the suck. Mostly stuff where he was underwater and you couldn't really see him. I might like it now. After all, Independence Day ended up being one of my favorite movies to watch. Oh, and regarding luke-o's question: most of the schlocky Godzilla pictures are cheap as shit on dvd. Just snap them up, it's not even really a loss if they eventually put out something better. The original Gojira has a nice dvd release that you definitely want, although I'm not sure how you being in a different region affects that.

I had an desire to respond to that thread with *unzips pants*, but when I saw that you, Jon, probably the biggest asshole here, didn't make a joke, I decided it would just be too far. I was pleased to see that Leena actually did post that, though, only for it to be deleted. Seeing that was the first benefit of my new modship. -
DIY taken to the extreme. You just completely go off the grid as far as possible. No taxes, no income, you subsist on found objects and communal living. Sort of nomadic, but music is a bigger part of it. Some are straight edge, but drugs and booze often play a big role. These are the guys always giving me free drugs because of my GG Allin tattoo. He's kind of a patron saint of the ideology.

It's not uncommon at all. I've met a few beggars who make not quite that much, but more than me. Here in San Francisco, the line is often blurred between beggars and street performers, cause there's lots of both. Squatters, crust punks, junkies, what have you... basically anyone who you might see on the street and ask for money, there's tons of them here. And some of them make a lot. I've seen some outright liars, too. Like this one woman who dressed in rags and brought her young kids out with her and said they were starving. She actually had a decent home and was provided for by her working husband. But the scheme worked.
