So that Swedish vampire movie Let the Right One In is finally playing here. It's fucking awesome. I can't recommend it enough. (I was particularly impressed with some of the cgi effects, because it's such an understated story, you always feel like you're watching some indie movie. So when they do come, they're cool and well placed, and really striking. That's a problem with some American horror, it's all just nonstop visuals.)

That actually makes this draft pretty exciting again, cause there's a few I'd take. By this point, I was pretty much on cruise control with this.

The Smart Marks Greatest Song of the 60s Tournament
Nighthawk replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Music
I'm amazed that anyone doesn't like "Crimson and Clover". That's why I'm not voting in this at the moment. That's the best song of the 60s and I already know it. No question. We should do best song of the 80s. That'd be a closer competition. -
Those are very good picks. Not ones I would have taken, but it's surprising they've lasted this long.

Well good. That's amazingly irresponsible. That's partially the standard I use for holding the wrestling business as hovering between porn and whoring in the respectability department. I was like "Well, what could be more dangerous and crazy than having sex with people on film for money?" but they've been watching their Ps and Qs a bit more on that, and then I'm like "Well... jumping into a circus net of barbed wire, rolling around in thumbtacks and being hit over the head with light tubes... with a guy you know essentially nothing about." ... that's gotta be worse. It's like that scene with Tyler and Lou in Fight Club where Tyler's like "You don't know where I've been!" except in this scenario... well, no, it's actually exactly the same as that. You really don't know where he's been. -
I love this song, but that may be one of the worst videos I've ever seen. They could release that as a parody, and I'd say "Not funny. Trying too hard." but that's the real video. Man, I know 80s nostalgia is cool (and it is cool), but not that part of the 80s. (One fun fact about Dead or Alive: Pete Burns legitimately sued Boy George for stealing his look. That's gayer than 9 guys fucking 8 guys.)

I'm not posting in the wrestling forums, because after Loss yelled at me, I don't want to offend them, but I was curious about bloodborne pathogens. But seriously, when you combine A) life on the road, with B) ring rats, and C) rolling around with open wounds... has this not been an issue? It seems like this is even riskier than being in porn. I'm just curious whether there has ever been a scare/issue with this. (I'm also aware that since the only wrestling I watch is death matches, this probably seems much riskier to me than it really is... but still, shouldn't all deathmatch wrestlers have AIDS by now?) -
Continuing my boredom/frittering my time away with my dvd collection, I'm now watching Eddie Izzard's 'Circle' with the trivia track on. It's a bit like Pop-Up Video (oh man, I should have taken that in the tv show draft... now there's a delayed reaction). Fascinating stuff... he's doing the bit about monkeys learning sign language, and it's telling me that female spider monkeys have such an elongated clitoris that they are often mistaken for males. And now it's telling me that a monkey was tried and convicted for smoking a cigarette in Kentucky in the 1920s. Now that's interesting! I really like the effort that goes into Eddie Izzard dvds. They all have this trivia track, as well as an audio commentary. Yes, a commentary on a stand up performance. As an aspiring comedian myself, this is quite valuable. 'Dress To Kill' even has him doing the entire set in French. With subtitles, it's still funny.

Isn't it ironic? Don'cha think?

I was just playing Guitar Hero 3.

Sweet. In unrelated news, Hilary Duff is sampling Depeche Mode for her new single, and blatantly ripping off the chorus. No big deal, but the song is "Personal Jesus" which is still fresh in everyone's mind, I think, from Johnny Cash and Marilyn Manson.

Just be a bum, girls don't care.

"I've Got A Golden Ticket" from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Here's me singing into a dildo, then.

Well you don't have the picture of my asshole to work with yet.
-
I think later today, I'll post a picture of my asshole. You can ad that to the greatest moments.

Ha ha! I do that too. "Yeah, I'm a starving artist/struggling writer." Which is technically true. It works better than "I'm a motherfuckin' hustla." Which is also technically true.

The more I think of it, the happier I am with Kirk Van Houten. What a run this was: "What's going on guys? Patio party?" "Nah, a possum drowned in the pool, you have any garbage bags?" "Just throw it over the fence, let Arby's worry about it!" "That's Jerry. He's a major player down at the sewing store." "Well thanks for introducing me!" "Oh, don't worry Homer, you know me! And I'm a superstar at the cracker factory!" Which segues directly into the "I don't recall saying good luck." bit quoted earlier.

It is. I've heard Frigid Soul speak "IDRM" aloud. It blew my fuckin' mind!
-
Funnily enough, I still picture you that way.

None of those things define your posting persona the way your drinking does, though. It's why I wouldn't put myself in the pothead category, even though I smoked a lot of pot.

I've still never met anyone from here except pbone, and he had to just outright move up the street from me. Oh, and Scroby as well. Should do that more often.

No, you're more of the "openly admits it" type. In all fairness, though, most of these supposed "drunks" have either slowed down to where it's not a problem or quit completely. I just noticed the other day that most of my dark period coincided with the Bush presidency. I will miss him.

Overrated flame. You could cut out maybe 80% of it and it would be just as effective. This I love, though:

As for this, I mostly just go by a poster who posts while they are clearly drunk (for example, KOAB. Myself, even though I was drunk/high pretty much 24 hours a day for several years, I was still able to rationally defend the literal truth of the Bible [a much better thread when you realize that I was drunk and believed none of what I was saying]). Or else, they just admit to it.
