Does sitcoms still/really have studio audiences?
Nighthawk replied to syxx2001's topic in Television & Film
Family Matters is also guilty of this. I can understand Urkel getting pops, but when Carl and Eddie were getting it, yeesh. The earliest I remember was Happy Days. Like the others, literally every single recurring character would get it, including Tom Bosley. There are many eerie similarities between Happy Days and Family Matters. Both spin offs. Both had supporting character take over the show. The father figures were similar (blustery, overweight, overwhelmed, etc). Both had a sibling inexplicably disappear. The appleause thing. There's more I can't remember, I haven't been reminded of this in a while. -
Jesus, you spelled Sam Kinison wrong. Anyway, he's the answer. He's iconic and funny. Can't beat it.

You probably don't know my style yet, so I'll inform you that my signatures in no way represent endorsement. The banjo is a superior instrument. Tool remains suck.

They hardly invented that.

I knew someone who though Rob Zombie's "Dragula" said "slam in the back of my naked ass"

I'm sure he told them.

Every character getting wild applause for walking into the room is one sure sign it's time to end the show. -
Film isn't a real degree.

Many things Adebisi did on Oz. Dude was awesome. Said was the only character worthy of killing him. If he had to go, that was the best way. Other things from Oz: -Jefferson Keane taking out the bride and groom as they exit the church. -Cyril going nuts and brutally beating/stabbing people. -Said refusing the pardon. -Bricks: "Hey faggot, you done with your faggotry yet?" I still use that line. I like Bricks almost as much as Adebisi. Schillinger and Robson had a lot of good stuff too. Funny lines from them: Schillinger: *observes Muslims* "Yabba dabba do." Robson: "Jihad? YEEE HA!"

Let's be sincere and non-self-referential

Not exactly, but it partially depends on who you ask. Sociopathy is more of a sub-group of APD, and is more introverted and selfish. You can have these things while maintaining a superficial level of charm and good social skills, as opposed to the unfeeling callousness. In the old days they would call that a psychopath. -
Short answer, yes. I don't particularly like most of his novels, I think he's better suited for short stories, but that's the one I unequivocably do. I've read it several times. Be warned, parts of it do indeed get very cosmic and extremely symbolic. It's well done, but if anything throws people off, that's usually it.

Personally, I wouldn't give a shit if somebody gave me semen brownies. I mean, apparently you couldn't taste it. Sure, I wouldn't eat them if you told me beforehand, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Of course, a lot of people aren't as well adjusted as I am.

This is a silly discussion. Rap is music, regardless of what the white man says. I recognize where it comes from, but you can't say "These are the greatest rappers" anymore than you can say it about bands in other musical genres. Rap, despite what you may have heard, does not have a tangible measurement of quality. You know who I think the greatest rapper is? Shock fucking G. LL, by the way, had two excellent albums, one pretty good one (all three very much in the past), and a bunch of average to crappy ones. Not much else to be said.

I was surprised by the filthy sex in that. "Crawly flood of semen" is an actual quote. Finished "No One Here Gets Out Alive". Interesting. I was disgusted by his wiccan wedding. Hopefully that was one of the bullshit parts. I'm going to take a break and just read some comics for a few days.

Watched Total Recall earlier. Have to add, *bullet to the head* "Consider that a divorce."

I've listened to select songs from Tom Waits' Rain Dogs multiple times today. The fact that I'm nursing a bottle of whiskey only partially explains this. No, it completely explains it. I'm going to get some Spacemen 3 albums. I want to get into them next.

I'm not even gonna piss and moan that it should be "IDrinkRatsMilk and his friends". Because I've found my place as "Incandenza's friend that wants to usurp him."

So I was drinking this Sam Adams regular Boston Lager. It's the most beery beer I've had and is great with a meal. Anyway, they've got these labels on the bottles that say various things about how great they are. This one says: "Beer is liquid bread. It's perishable. Freshness matters. In 1988 we pioneered freshness dating so you know your Samuel Adams beer is the freshest. Once a year I swim in it." I paraphrased some of that. But it opened with "Beer is liquid bread." and closed with "I swim in it." That is utterly insane. -

You're nothing, man. Real killers don't talk. -

In the interest of sincerity, I was once diagnosed as a sociopath. I don't believe it, however. Another psychologist (who looked remarkably like Willem Dafoe) had me with antisocial personality disorder. Probably closer to the truth. -
Tarantino Boards New Friday the 13th Movie?

V is the most underrated of the series. It's pretty universally acknowledged as the worst, I think just cause it wasn't really Jason. Put that aside and it had some of the best stuff. The reveal didn't bother me. If it looks like a duck, you know.
