Explain? Interesting, but explain. They are almost universally hailed as Jesus Christs within their genre, yet they suddenly arrive and are sold to us like Star Wars or Matthew McConaughey, without particularly doing anything to earn such status. I don't particularly care for either, and I can understand an active dislike because they are average artists ascended to godhood on the basis of a public opinion which came from... where? They also admittedly carried some influence and had one huge memorable hit song. In short: The most overrated groups, while far from the worst, appear to be so in counterance to said overration.

The creator of Family Guy, Todd McFarlane, said that he intentionally made it so gay people wouldn't like it. I only half like it, myself.

It may interest you to know that Christian rap was also invented in '88, by a white guy. Let's all acknowledge this: Run DMC are the Led Zeppelin of rap.

The remixes on that album are tight as fuck and worth what I paid ($7) for it alone, though I would have spent 12 or 13 if I had to. Although I did think it said "Carl Cox Megamix" but once I got it home, realized it was Chris Cox. A shame, cause you know, Carl Cox brings the good shit. The mix was still pretty good though. By the way, War is the only U2 album I actually like, and Bono is a prick, but I wouldn't call them overrated. Objectively, they're a pretty good fuckin band.

Dark, slimline cases with a small image of the original cover art in the middle, which if placed side by side, form the prism and rainbow from DSOTM on their spines. The set also comes with a hardbound book, by the way. I'll admit it's a hell of a nice set, just a poor choice of what's in it.

The past few posts have given me an idea for a concept rap album called Run DMX. I'll bring it along when I show up at Incandenza's apartment.

If the selected posters under discussion met, I'm sure we would never post on the board again. If those five posters left, the board would be worthless and die. I think we should meet and kill thesmartmarks.

From the sound of it, I will love Kid A. I adore barely cognizant noise albums.

I also like Blueberry Boat. Is it me, or is Napoleon Dynamite in The Arcade Fire?

To make a long story short, the whole situation is dictated by money. I like it out here though, I may consider settling when the time for that comes.

Yeah, I never really mentioned it, but I moved temporarily to the San Francisco area over the summer. All the stories you've heard about the city are true and understated.

I'll come and visit you for real. I'll be back in Florida in January or February.

I have sexual fantasies about Meg.

You know, Vicky Beckham's solo album is really terrible. I'm starting to wonder if I should just get rid of it. It has a really great cover, on the one hand, but on the other hand... man, does it suck. I only have it to be a Spice Girls completist, but is that something I really want to be? I think my best bet is to keep it, but throw it in the closet and pretend I don't have it.

I slept in a closet for a long time.

Speaking of errors in box set, there's Pink Floyd's nearly $300 insult. First, who but the most die hard Pink Floyd fans are going to drop $300 on a box set? And if they are die hard fans (hell, if they're only moderate fans) they're going to get about one disc's worth of new material out of it. What a joke. Cool packaging though.

So I was listening to this album today: And it sucks. Despite this, I can't stop myself from listening to it. It's as if Rick James were the gayest white man on earth and never matured past the fourth grade, or Frank Zappa had a lobotomy and started playing a casio keyboard instead of a guitar. On the technically positive side, the singer does have a falsetto which would put King Diamond to shame. I can't even hardly understand the lyrics, but here's a sample of what they sound like to me: "Bad boy won't you suck my dolly I piss my ass with a motherfuckin smile on my face And I get real stupid and you and you and you Cunt [not can't, cunt] stop me I'll show ya how official midgets jack me off La la la la la I hate Jimmy Page" That's makes so little sense that I can't help but find myself enthralled by it. I wish I had their first album, but not at the prices it's going for.

Their "Ah yeah!" and "Check this out" remain some of the most (over?)used samples in music.

I mean to say happy birthday, buddy!

Hey, I hate you and hope you die you worthless prick.

Even though I haven't listened to those albums yet, I'm still betting Outkast's albums were as good or better. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik may not have been as inovative as their later work, or quite as good, but it was damn good for what it was and hardly a blemish on them. ATLiens, I can't find anything bad to say about it except it wasn't as good as Aquemini. Aquemini is just one of the greatest albums ever released. OK Computer might be as well, but there's a certain point of greatest reached where nothing is better, just good in a different way. Aquemini is there.

Not bad. It had me in a kind of trance (it was on headphones, by the way) to where it was over and it only felt like it'd been playing 5 minutes. I agree with Foetus that they were the only industrial band and nobody else should want to associate themselves with the term after that.

I also listened to Diamanda Galas' Divine Punishment, though I can't find a cover for it. In retrospect, those were some pretty schitzophrenic album choices, although they were getting progressively more insane. edit:
