I ran across this comp purely by accident. I'm pleased, because I remember really liking it, but not what it was called or who was on it. My first exposure to JG Thirlwell, Cabaret Voltaire, Psychic TV, The The, Coil and Einsturzende Neubauten was from this comp. Pretty influential.

I got that excited over the Spice Girls reunion. I was going to fly to LA for it, but I ended up losing my job that same week, then they canceled like half of their gigs due to lack of interest. It just wasn't meant to be. I just don't like... live music, unless it's in a small venue. This shit is the opposite of that.

Were I to name like, my ten favorite Prince songs, at least three of them would be from Purple Rain. "Darling Nikki", "Let's Go Crazy" and the title track. One opens the album, one closes it, and one's right in the middle. Great fuckin' album. The rest would be like, "Pussy Control", "Sexy MF", "Diamonds and Pearls", "Head", ""The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" and (perhaps ironically) "The Cross", off the top of my head. I also have a soft spot for his sillier stuff, ie "Jack U Off" and "Bob George".

My resolve to adopt if I ever had children is strengthened. It's the most noble thing a person can do, and they just wouldn't let me have one if I were a total fuck up. I saw an advance screening of Choke for free a few days ago, and I'm still paying to see it again. Highly recommended.

I worked at Albertsons years ago, and I never heard that. But like you said, new programs. Light 80s pop just makes me think of pornographic murder, largely due to American Psycho, but that means that I'm in a constant state of murderous fantasy when I grocery shop. Unless I shop at the discount grocery store, where they play oldies.
