Oh, not Jesse. These conspiracy theories, as Monsoon would say, are highly dubious.

Discussion: Possible DC Universe Movies

I think "Hulk"-ing Superman is the best thing that could be done. Superman Returns has been on HBO a lot lately, and it's such a weak movie. Hopefully, Singer won't be asked to return. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy's work, but we need someone who knows that in the 1980s, Superman received as much an overhaul as Batman. I completely agree with you guys about the animated Superman. Out of all the Superman adaptations over the years, Timm and the gang's version is the only one that completely holds up. Also, I'm so glad that article mentioned SuperMax. If they do a competent job with that, it could be huge for some of their B level properties. -
Paul Christy is one of the WrestleCrap entries this week, I believe. That's where I saw it for the first time, and holy shit, it's crazy brilliant in spite of (or because of?) Paul's completely awkward ineptitude. It's must see.

I just started my subscription Tuesday night (the night that a lot of stuff was ending, including the WCW Japan Supershow). I'm watching the Roberts/DiBiase match, and this bit of commentary jumped out at me. (On wrestlers being comfortable working the right and/or left side of their opponent) Gorilla: It's very important to go both ways in wrestling- Hayes: Yes. Gorilla: Especially here in the World Wrestling Federation. Hayes: (suppresses a laugh) Yes! A comment directed towards Pat Patterson and the like? Maybe JR didn't start the tradition of ribbing Pat's lifestyle choice on commentary. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it. By the way, if there's anyone who is reading this and is on the fence about getting 24/7, do it immediately. I'm blown away by how great it is, and besides, next month is Flair Month.

Here's a short history of Batman '89 off the top of my head. Hope it clears some things up. At this point, everybody has heard how they wanted it to be Bill Murray and Eddie Murphy in an Ivan Reitman-led comedy version of Batman. At some point, this idea was dropped. You can probably thank Michael Uslan for that. He's got a pretty interesting story, if you want to look him up. Anyways. It wasn't until Beetlejuice became a hit that Tim Burton got the job. By this point, Sam Hamm had written the legendary shooting draft that includes the horseback chase and Dick Grayson/Robin. I believe the climax even involves the sonar bat attractor from Year One/Batman Begins. Obviously, Burton would cut Robin just like he would in Batman Returns. What happened to the climax is a little more eventful. No one on the crew (that includes such non-comic fans as Burton, Jon Gruber, and Jon Peters of An Evening with Kevin Smith fame) liked the ending. It needed more punch. Jon Peters wasn't dreaming of a giant spider yet, so they turned to their writer. Only, he wasn't on set. There was a WGA strike at the time, meaning Sam Hamm couldn't participate in the film making. So the braintrust decided to make Joker the murderer of the Waynes, some Hamm vehemently disagreed with when he saw the film. He still protests it to this day. So while AndrewTS is totally on the money about BTAS, I have to defend The Batman. I never thought I would, but I caught an episode a few weeks ago that held up. Sure, it was a Superman crossover with the full Bruce Timm cast of voice actors (at least Daly, Delaney, and Brown), but I think it may have improved since its awful, vampire-riddled beginnings. This has been Useless Batman Information Theater.

No mention of Supermax through the entire thread? I think it's the most exciting concept for a comic vehicle in quite some time. It's a Green Arrow movie where he is arrested for being a vigilante ten minutes in and sent to Supermax, a prison for Meta Humans. Run by Amanda Waller. And incarcerating Luthor, The Joker, and a host of B through D level DC villains. Hopefully they green light it soon. -
Is this the one where the main plot is a treasure hunt? That's one of my favorite, laughably bad unproduced scripts. But at least The Penguin wasn't a mutant in it. So I was able to see The Dark Knight twice over the weekend. It really did things to me that no other movie has done. There were parts where the twists and music and camera work left my head spinning. And I don't mean it was making me motion sick. I honestly couldn't wrap my head around everything that was happening. I'd almost say it was something guttural. I was barely able to talk afterwards. To simply surmise my point, I loved it. Sure, there are a few things that stick out to me, which I'll probably address after I hopefully see it in Imax. Nothing major, just a couple of minor flubs/plot holes. Not that they subtract anything from the finished product. There is one thing I want to mention, since no one I've told this seems to understand. You can only see it in one, maybe two shots, but the year on Harvey's lucky coin is 1922.

I still want a super hero movie with a James Bond style cold opening. Imagine Spider-Man 4 starting out with Spidey swinging into action as Rhino bursts through a wall. Give them ten minutes to fight (and hey, maybe actually let Spider-Man get some good quips in), then go from the main credit sequence into the real story. This just sounds so perfect tot me, I'll never understand why they don't do more of it. I mean, come on, Sony; you'd get to market an extra Rhino action figure and everything.

You can tell Russo wrote this because the author has no grasp of how a contract works.

IESB.net has TWELVE exclusive clips. They mostly expand on stuff from the trailer. The site's getting hammered, so I've only seen half of them so far.

I'm thinking . But to be honest, I have no idea. And these reviews talk about there being plenty of twists. Three weeks and counting...

There's a big (if unsurprising) spoiler in the Rolling Stone review. Apparently, there's a review on AICN that's riddled with spoilers, but I'm not going near it. Just a head's up.

I was going to make a list of Lego parody games, but instead I learned how awesome Lego Texas Chainsaw Massacre could be.

Comcast Channel One OnDemand has a Dark Knight section starting today. You can watch the first three trailers, a new alternate trailer (not the Verizon one), the three featurettes they had on their website, and a new episode of Gotham Tonight with Mike Engel (Anthony Michael Hall) featuring Harvey Dent's campaign manager, current DA Roger Garcetti, and Dana Worthington. New Joker stuff from the trailer:

Is the History of the IC Belt something they put together themselves or is it just straight from a Coliseum Home Video?

If anything, its the line "an excellent wrestler, wasn’t a cry baby and never whined. " Also, I remember in 1999 when Mideon, Viscera, and the Blue Meanie made the cut for the video games. I guess these days you just can't fit all these guys in a game...

I saw a preview on IGN for a game called Animales de los Muertos that's a 3D zombie shooter where you control your character with the nunchuk and aim with the Wii remote. It looks pretty good. There are a lot of weapon options.

I mean, holy shit. That's perfect.

Yes yes, a million times yes. I want a cheap port of a Price is Right game for the Wii. I'll admit that I've already got the board game. Price is Right owns.
