Yes, I'm sure that Orton behaves the way that he does to "keep kayfabe alive," and it has nothing to do with his well-documented manchild tendencies that go back all the way to his teenage years. Gasp! Really? Tell me more! -
Well, I'm an English major. But haikus are Japanese, so I don't know what you want out of me. If I was forced to make a judgment call, I'd dock you because technically, Peach's is two syllables. Sorry, dawg.

Man, Orton is the best heel in the world. He has marks, smart marks, AND hotel staffers hating him. -
Thanks. I had to go to class and didn't have time to put up an image. These are international style posters, in case anyone was wondering.

How many posters does this movie need? All of them? Okay! Three new posters are up at Yahoo and they're the top story at http://www.batman-on-film.com/batmovienews.html . I think people are out on foot to do some viral marketing scavenger hunt later today or tomorrow

Don't know what show your watching, but Orton has been awesome the last year. His promos are great heel promos. He's menacing with his deadly eyes which fit into his "viper" character. And the concussion kick is my favorite finisher in wrestling. Hitting Cena with it right after JBL tapped tonight was fucking brilliant. He combines the opportunist gimmick of Edge with the pussy character of JBL with the violent, cold, calculating persona of a heel Steve Austin and they all blend together perfectly. His work in the ring has been fantastic. I love, love, love his concussion-based offense, including the headlocks which fit perfectly into his offense. They're completely logical and complaining about them because they're not a hurriquebrada special lucha libre shit is so 2002 of you. Short story, Orton is god. Cena is Jesus and I would have settled for him winning. HHH is old news. Couldn't agree more. Ever since I started watching again, Orton's added the stalking on all fours for the RKO, the concussion kick, and he's really stepped it up on his promos. But it's the kick that did it. Once he started punting people in the head, he became a completely different character. Now he's a completely different wrestler than he was a couple of years ago. I thought his work during the Rumble build up was some especially phenomenal stuff.

Yes it is. It shows where the older movies are. And yet, no one is talking about Drillbit Taylor.

I'm on the fence with WiiFit because so many random people play my Wii when I'm not around. Several of my roommate's friends are big fat party animals. I don't like the idea of someone getting fucked up and thinking they have to jump on the board as hard as they can for points.

Big Show's probably too smart at this point to attempt the moonsault. Think about the hell his knees go through in everyday life. Its just not worth the risk. Considering the 11-month/year debate pertaining to MVP (who, if we wanna get this thread positive, is one of my favorite guys to come along in a long time), I wonder if a ladder match at Judgment Day could be the Summerslam 1998 for MVP and Matt?

They own the house but the yard is still the Undertaker's. -
If you wanna read too much into it, the posters have actually told a story using nothing but visuals. The original teaser posters illustrate The Joker doing street level crimes (graffiti with blood). Next you have the international teasers with Batman overlooking a serene Gotham City from inside a skyscraper on one and The Joker walking into the city on the other. And now this: giant explosion with the Batman down on the street, having come down from his tower. Sinking to The Joker's level, perhaps? If it's a world without rules The Joker wants, he has to get Batman to break his "one rule".
-
I really like the way the rusty brown colors from Batman Begins contrast with the cold blue color scheme of The Dark Knight. It ranges from the posters to the movies, it looks like. I guess Batman Begins is the literal sun setting on Gotham and The Dark Knight is just that...the darkest night in Gotham City. Escalation, nightfall, et cetra.

So instead of getting laughs based on how bad his monologue jokes are, he'll just laugh at them until people laugh at his laughing. Brilliant.

Boner Kawanger replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
(I have such a fascination with TNA that I may have just written entirely too much on the subject. It's like the puzzle box from Hellraiser. I have to figure it out, despite the promise or torturous damnation. Sorry.) If I had to guess, they have a major Kurt/Karen angle (no pun intended) planned. I don't know, maybe she'll leave him but then swerve somebody (and, by proxy, swerve us all). Whatever it is, it probably won't change the fact that they'll have more segments devoted to them IN THE BACK WITH JB Jeremy Borash than any other angle. I am so excited that it's Thursday. I honestly feel weird posting in a TNA thread more than once, but honestly, I can't wait for this show. I've recently got back into watching as much wrestling as I can after nearly quitting entirely. Impact is pretty much can't miss television for me. And that is I the point I wanna make, because I think I'm on the other side of the fence as you, bps. Sure, Angle deserves his rematch, but I really think one of TNA's bigger problems is their lack of hesitation in running PPV matches on free TV*. I mean, a lot of people are going crazy for the Lockdown match between them (I saw it, I wasn't that impressed, but that's just my opinion). Why not have Angle admit to making a mistake the way he backed Joe into the corner? Say he had no way of surviving a cage match with someone he had screwed around with for a year or however long, but dammit, he's Kurt Angle: Olympic Gold Medalist. He can beat anyone, anywhere, anytime. Of course, the subtlety to the angle is that Kurt wants Joe without the cage to run his usual shenanigans. Sorry for the fantasy booking, but with that match you can capitalize on a hot feud and have Joe destroy the Angle Alliance single-handedly to ultimately prove himself. Instead we have a not-so-random three way match (these guys actually have a lose history within TNA, right? I think they've all wrestled each other one on one). The problem is, they threw it together by ripping off Money in the Bank and already ran the complete ripoff with Make Believe Muscle Lil' Petey Pump. But I digress, because Feast or Fired is a completely different topic. Back to my original point: TNA is can't miss television. Why? Well, I don't know how you guys feel, but I still think Booker T vs Robert Roode in a first blood match on the live Impact was one of their stupidest decisions. It honestly felt like the blowoff match (with a gimmick) to a feud used to promote a tag team match (with double the gimmicks) that just happened to include these two guys. God the sentences that explain this company are long. So what I'm saying is, I watch Impact every week. I have, for lack of a better term, a TNA fan. Yet they haven't got a dime from me. Some of my friends and I bought WrestleMania this year for the first time since 2000 because of the build up. But I wouldn't even think twice about ordering a pay-per-view because all of the important stuff happens on free TV. Sting/Angle title change number two, Sting's return one-on-one match (with about an hour of build-up mind you), and now the Angle/Joe rematch. Not to mention, I think they've almost done a legitimate job of pushing Jay Lethal but looking at it, I think both times he's lost the X title were on free TV out of nowhere to advance an angle. Woohoo, less than three hours away! Damn I get carried away talking about this company. -

Boner Kawanger replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
I rarely, if ever, post about TNA, but I've found myself watching it every week. Not that I like it; there's a perverse enjoyment to how stupid every aspect of the show can be. I say this because I think I figured out why Team 3D went from arguing heels to babyfaces. Because if they're going to feud, one of them HAS to SWERVE the other. This is how TNA works at its core. Get from point A to point B by any means necessary, even if it means changing things without warning or explanation. Only in TNA's case, they're at point 1 trying to get to point B, which is on another fucking map. I can't wait for tomorrow night. -
I will admit that Victorious Boxers is somewhat fun, and is probably great two player, but if you're a fan of the manga series it's based off of, and you play story mode, you won't be happy Never read a manga in my life, so I'll check it out. Thanks.

There are a couple of boxing games available now (not sure if the Don King game is out yet or not), is any one of them worth playing? I was really excited for a boxing game after playing Wii Sports.

I think you're right about the Edge turn there Diablo, but its hazy for me, too. As for Jericho, I kinda buy him as just a grand shit disturber. -
We'll get a new trailer through the viral marketing in about two weeks. They showed it at Comic Con yesterday. There are a few descriptions out there. Here's one from IGN: April 19, 2008 - It wasn't on the panel lineup. It wasn't advertised. It wasn't supposed to be here. But the fact that Warner Bros didn't signal a new trailer for the Dark Knight was going to be in New York didn't stop the company from surprising attendees just prior to their presentation for The Spirit (check back with IGN later in the day for details on that panel). Paul Levitz, President of DC Comics, came out just after Marvel's Incredible Hulk panel ended to address the attendees. Due to a packed schedule he wasn't able to say too much, but kicked off the first new footage for Christopher Nolan's eagerly anticipated sequel. This is the first time footage from the film has been shown since the IMAX footage and trailer debuted. Levitz noted that this particular trailer was set to debut "in a couple weeks." Images were flying fast and furious, but here are some of our quick impressions. The trailer repurposed some older clips, remixing them into something that seemed more plot-centric than the Joker centered piece from last time. Extended sequences featuring Rachel Dawes meeting the Clown Prince of Crime were shown, and attendees also caught more of a glimpse of what appears to be a love triangle/feud that develops between Bruce Wayne, Harvey Dent and Dawes. While Two Face was entirely absent, a couple hints were dropped about Dent's dark future. As usual, the Joker was the star of the show. A significant portion of the trailer featured Heath Ledger's much-hyped performance. The trailer revealed what appeared to be the genesis of Joker's rise to power in Gotham, with him meeting with a group of people (the mob?), saying the answer to their problems is to kill Batman. That segued into the amazing sequence from the first trailer where Batman and the Joker have a showdown in the middle of the streets. Our opinion of what we saw? It's more of the jaw-dropping, drool-inducing stuff we've seen throughout the past year. In a way we weren't as blown away by this trailer as the first because we pretty much just want to see the movie. We don't want any more teasers or glimpses. We know Ledger's Joker is breathtaking. Simply put, we just want to see what has easily become our most anticipated film of the year. (And just so you don't rush to conclusions, what we saw was still impressive.) In a couple weeks, all will be revealed. Keep an eye out for the new trailer, particularly through the Warner Bros viral campaign. Levitz mentioned something to the effect of finding hints and clues to see the trailer again. Stay tuned to IGN for the latest news from New York Comic-Con. From movies to television to comics to anime, we've got tons of news for you to check out. You can access our New York Comic-Con hub by looking to our Comic-Con graphic at the top of this article. And MTV has a really good breakdown that's pretty dialog heavy so I won't post the entirety of it, but check out this gem: - In one of the most foreboding moments of the trailer, Dent emphatically states “You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

While we're looking for promos, does anyone have the interview Cactus Jack did on the second Raw after WrestleMania XIV? The one where he says "I gave you Cactus Jack. I gave you every GOD DAMN bit of energy I had..."

I think this is worth mentioning if their teaming is rare. According to the Hall & Nash shoot interview, they'd do the spot where they'd back into one another and do a slow turn and face off to see if a Razor/Diesel feud had potential.

Who isn't a Stooges fan? I think it's pretty unbelievable how well they still hold up today; not great, but out of that era, they're head and shoulders above the rest. Hell, the Stooges even form the basis of my favorite Seinfeld joke, from when Kramer is in LA.. (spoilers for length)
