Contestant on NBC's "Contender" committs suicide
Boner Kawanger replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
Wow, poor guy. I can't believe David Caruso is writing for the AP now. I thought he had a new show. Poor, poor man. -
JLU has been very hit and miss so far, but when it's good, it is good. Even the less than stellar episode have something enjoyable. Next week will be good, with Superman fighting the REAL Doomsday and Batman uncovering information on the government conspiracy.

If that's why we're cancelling shows, then Fox is in trouble. So is CBS. And ABC. And NBC. And UPN. I myself loved the show last night, but I'm biased, since I like funny stuff that makes me laugh.

Wait, so he wears a suit in the non-hallucination scenes, but still that mask? I don't really know all about the Batman stories, so you'll have to fill me in on this one. Why the hood/mask/whatever? Jonathan Crane often found himself the target of bullies who dubbed him "Scarecrow" with his gangling legs and gawkish features, Washington Irving's fictional Ichabod Crane made real. Fear of his oppressors defined the young Crane, who vowed to conquer his weaknesses by knowing the nature of all phobias, and in doing so, avenge himself upon all who taunted him. Later, Crane studied psychology and biochemistry, parlaying his advanced knowledge of fear and the human mind into a Gotham University professorship. Crane's unorthodox and unsafe teaching methods would ultimately be his undoing, forcing his dismissal. As revenge, Crane adopted the rags and tatters of the Scarecrow, literally frightening several of the University's regents to death with a specialized fear gas which made each man's personal demons all too real. The Batman ended Crane's reign of terror, and subsequent criminal endeavors, but gained a bizarre new addition to his rogue's gallery in Arkham Asylum--a psychopath whose only fear is of the Dark Knight himself. Mild Spoilers Ahead Apparently, in the movie continuity, Crane (a doctor at Arkham) is smuggling some kind of drug and needs the mask as a disguise. When he begins using the fear gas, he decides that designing a scary costume would be impractical, because the fear gas will do all the work in scaring victims. In the real world, it would be impractical for a man to not only look like comic Crane (Bale himself in The Machinist is too big) but to also dress like him. Imagine a slender man wearing a red sweater and brown pants. Try adding hay to it without it looking ridiculous/falling out all the time. Hope that answered your question. It was kinda vague. -
Fox to "Cut Down" Arrested Development

Now I have no reason to watch Fox on Sundays. Seriously, that's going to be one soul crushing ninety minutes of animation. Stale Simpsons and repetative, formulatic MacFarlene MacFun Hour. -

Good point. He's so damn likeable, too. I would expect Lucious to have shit his pants the way Bruce was driving, but damn, he hung in there. -
Understood. Thanks for posting the news, though. It was really lacking in this forum.

If it isn't too late, we tricked my friend Will into eating a cat treat last night.

He's mean. Please don't ban me for that; my head is not on straight right now. -
Yeah, he needs to sound lazy. Like Garfield. See, there's something that works about the show. You have an alien living with this family (not named ALF), and instead of changing their lives or using mysterious powers, he's lazy and just uses them. That's different from FG.

Good efforts, but get a new title and don't report news that is about a year old (Murphy as Crane).

You and I seem to disagree(I do think you're spot on with Episode III) on a lot of things, 2GOLD, but you're still one of my favorite posters in this forum. Here's what's working about the Batman trailers: The Anticipation. This was the first time the public has seen a real life Scarecrow. And we saw him for two seconds. This was also the most we've seen of Batman, and holy hell, he works. Completely trumps the other movies in presentation. And those of us in the know have still yet to see Jim Gordon. Makes me want more. The Cast. Like 2GOLD said, this is a great cast. You have Caine and Neeson, two actors that register with the public as good actors. Holmes gets the attention of the teenagers. My friends are recognizing Bale as a complete badass from Equillibriam. With most of the other movies, people were excited because it was Batman, it had cool looking gadgets, or because they just cast big stars as villains. The Presentation. The Music. Combined, they make this look different, very important for exorcising the curse of Batman & Robin. The Hype. People are talking. The webmaster of Batman-on-Film is getting word from people who were not Batman fans and are now excited for this movie. Simply put, the ad campaign for Batman Begins works. -
...yeah, I think I'll hate. Something just seemed off about it. Maybe it can find its feet, but last night was really weak. The stuff with the kid as class president really bothered me, just because it was so childish. A kid running a school belongs in a Saturday morning cartoon. I tried to like it, but Family Guy's overexposure really started to hurt it for me last year, and now Seth has entered the realm of "cult creator", which today either means completely underground or Hot Topic sale of the week. And everyone saying that the characters are too similar to Family Guy's is right, unfortunately. That's what made Futurama so good. The Simpsons was about today's family, and Futurama was about tomorrow's office. Both of these shows are about wacky families that flashback to irrelevant situations. Can't wait for the t-shirts.

I noticed all around the Internet that a lot less people are bitching about the Batmobile now. Awesome trailer. Everything looks just right. -
I've made a huge mistake. It is hard to tell without subtitles, and it is funnier if you think he says "como".

In before The Ben Stiller Show. -
Gob: Oh, you're going to be in a como alright. Sorry, but as someone who speaks a little Spanish, I really love those jokes, and that line just makes that one. Another Great Moment: In God We Trust "Where is God?" "THERE IS NO GOD." The lady deliver that line sounds like she's in an English B-movie from the fifties, and it may be one of the greatest line readings in history.

According to the PPV schedule, Bad Blood was replaced by "TBA". That TBA is ECW ONO. Nice av, BTW. 2 many abbrev. PotD lol

While we're talking about the DVDs, I feel the need to mention two deleted scenes. Lucille Two makes a joke about George Senior's arrest, and Lucille fires back with "No amout of money can bring your husband back from the dead". After Maeby calls Michael to tell him George Michael is going to burn down the banana stand, GOB insists they take the Segway, which gets a top speed to .4 MPH with two people riding it. Michael gets off and runs, while GOB waits for it to power up. Good stuff.

...both. Maeby is Surely hot.
